For prices between $2-4k it's mostly about the manufacturing costs, actually. There are far more components that go into a "true GMT" caliber, which means that producing (and finishing) those tiny little shits takes more time, effort, and capital expenditure which drives up the cost (or price) of the movement.

Almost nobody takes the watch functionality seriously anymore.

Everything is about the fashion divers, fashion tachimeters, fashion chronographs that nobody actually uses for shit, not even the actual divers. But when it comes to something actually useful for the people like say DAY OF THE WEEK just look at your phone lol.

Casio royale really surprised me. Not only it has global time and quick bookmark for four time zones, you can actually set whether your city uses daylight savings or not. Also a perpetual calendar. Casio might be the only brand dedicated to telling you what time it is. Everything else is about jerking off to the movement finish

Logistics.

If you want something shipped to you from Russia it has to first travel on a train to Europe.

When I needed something from Japan to Russia I could still buy it, but it took a literal trip around the world from Japan to US - Germany - Finland and finally to Russia.

I still think this is Rolex's bullshit excuse to exaggerate the significance of their Caliber 3185, since it barely took Miyota a bit of alteration to come up with an affordable true GMT with the Miyota 9075.

Best part is, despite the listed accuracy of -10/+30, mine is barely gaining 5s per day to the point that it's already performing better than a Sellita SW220. I've talked to Vario's CEO and he's planning to use them on the next Empire release on August and I'm definitely picking that one up.

Hell, why bother with a Sellita SW220

Office GMTs are a easier to make. Quite simply, you take a day-date movement and turn the day functionality into a 24 hour hand.

A flyer GMT has a jumping hour hand that can be adjusted back and forth that also drives the date. It's a pain in the ass to make and it's a movement you can't really use anywhere else, unlike the office GMT which you can easily build from an existing day-date movement.

Or better even a poor drive with the second hand just making ten little steps instead of one big one. And given that the solar watches exist now the power efficiency doesn't matter anymore.

That said from my conversation with microbrand CEOs, it's essentially just a test run to see how it'll go with their designs, after the first release they'd return to NH34A's since cheaper cost means higher return because the NH34 is roughly $40-50 cheaper than the Miyota 9075.

For the 1970s, that's still state of the art, it's easy for digital watches to stay on these days due to Eco-Drive/Solar Technology but back that that didn't really exist so if you wanted to maximize battery life, it makes sense to turn the display off after a certain period.

Yea, it's why I've stopped scalping Zelos as well since after inquiring with the guy if he's ever going back to doing Sellita or ETA movements, he said it's just not financially viable doing so anymore now that NH and Miyota 9000 movements are much more easily accessible.

I'm assuming the only thing that would change this is if they decide to work on complications that either movements can't work with, like Moon Phases or Chronograph.

They are all very different looking, wearing and featured watches.

What do you actually want?
Do you need date? Do you need day? Do you want to wear it with a suit to your friends wedding or go scating and fall on your face?

Cool look? Pragmatic look? Fancy look?

The first watch I actually wanted to buy for myself was some crazy ass looking orient with an open heart and over the top decorated dial looking like it wants to be a Harley Davidson bike. My dad told me that orient is a terrible shit brand and I listened to him, got a boring Seiko instead, still regret that decision, should have followed my heart.

It's the
>boyfriend watch
craze that spread among women so that they can doubly flex on other women, their one and seemingly only pastime and joy.
A man's watch emphasizes the dainty feminine wrist; makes it look more delicate. This affects the man that sees this.
When a woman sees another woman, fashionable, likely fit and pretty wearing an obviously expensive, man-sized watch she assumes that the latter's wealthy bf or husband gave her his old watch. This happened a lot where I live when the ceramic subs first came out and especially now after the 41mm.
Women who see this will seethe internally, which was the whole point of the exercise from the outset.
Before some whore seethes I was told this by a very candid boutique attendant when queried why women's sizes like 28mm etc., were unfashionable and why panerai and rolex subs etc., were being seen on women in my city.

TL;DR look up the "boyfriend watch" craze

oh don't worry, I get you. Funnily enough the only fags that do this is like the guy I'm talking about. Absolutely insufferable with no personality hence why they sandbag that with expensive watches.

I've had better interactions from people who actually collect budget watches since not only do they tend to share the same autistic view I have in horology. They're also excellent references for great value watches to impress your relatives and friends into thinking you got them something that costs thousands when it probably was barely even $200.

Less than 10k. In NJ
Type doesnt matter as long as its a very good buy
I see each watch can be customizable and if you pick the right combo you can possibly sell your watch for 5k more than you bought it for the day you receive it from the dealer
I dont care about movement, just class in the design
Im ok with dive watches and nautical/lunar theme
Definitely Bracelet unless the leather strap really looks good and will be a good investment
wrist size is 8.25-8.5 inches

I will be reading the OP links while you respond with your shitty advice that does not include a link with a price to the watch you mention which i know nothing about

I would really love a real silver or gold watch as well.
A Native American themed silver and turquoise watch with lunar phases would be the watch I would design.
I also am interested in the fabrication of pure silver gauntlets from 10 oz bars.
Probably more silver than that for the size im thinking.
I want a silver gauntlet with leather straps that cover about 60% of the forearm
Ive only seen native american silver gauntlets that cover about 15%

If you're buying a watch as an investment then just look at the rolexs which you probably won't be able to get because of official dealers cuckery

Anything else will lose value as soon as you buy it and walk out of the door

Would personally reccomend the sneedmaster via chrono24 or something, cheaper by 20% against the official omega store so you don't lose any value

but since its your first buy you might be iffy about buying an expensive watch online, gl on your find m8
