I wear a lot of custom made casual (oxford, denim, chambray, and flannel) shirts and jeans that were fashionable during the raw denim craze. Parhaps I speak more for myself then than on behalf of women in general. I still stand by the fact that the physical traits of men have much less to do with attraction than what's typically thought, it's mostly that women will asses you with their baseline standards in mind on whether or not they're met. A lot of men like to complain that women don't want them out of circumstances that are outside of their control and that's just not true. Multiple studies have shown that men rely more heavily on their visual perception in comparison to women who care more about status and personality so there's more room here to maneuver.

What love looks like is very curious to me. When you're in love, those "ugly" physical traits become something that you wouldn't change for the world. It's a part of who they are and you see beauty in what's unpleasant on the surface. Having a certain level of initial displeasingness to the eye can build grit and character. Even my really hot ex, I just wasn't that into him because he had little struggle in his life and people always approved of him. Any acceptance into social circles was automatic, everything came easily. Where's the strength in that? He looked like a model and I was only mildly interested because he had very few challenges he'd overcome in life. Maybe if he'd been less attractive, he'd have understood a level of pain and resilience through it that I could personally resonate with and the spark would've been stronger.
