never wore a watch, want my first.
I wear gold jewellery, what type of (budget) watch is good with that? I'm not an expert but gold rings + silver watch does not seem very appealing. How do you guys decide how to pair your watches?

avoid gold plated, the plating will wear off.

I like these casios, this one is about 50 euros, that's within the budget.
Could you recommend some other gold toned watches? Anything under 150 or 100 euros goes.

I can't help but think if this guy had an actually masculine voice, face, and demeanor, his channel would have 10x the followers that it does. Most of his advice is good but part of me just sees him as dashiell hammett's idea of a homosexual minor villain and I don't mean that as a compliment. The pigeon toes, the sliced back thinning hair, the unnecessary flourishes on what would otherwise have been a perfectly reasonable and masculine outfit. If he was a gigachad with a deep commanding voice it would work. If he dialed back on the pinky rings and the carnations in the lapel it would work. But overall he just takes it a few steps in the wrong direction and it ruins it for me. For the record I've had sexual relations with other males numerous times and I'm no stranger to the gay "scene", so there's nothing about gay-coded stuff that bothers me per se, it's the way it's done in this "ageing bottom" fashion, like you feel like he's going to beg you to let him gargle your balls the whole time he's looking in the camera, but he hasn't quite graduated into Dirty Fat Ugly Bastard territory so you can't even really do the meta attraction thing with him. He needs to step up his perv massively, or dial it down just a notch or two. Thank you for reading my youtube comment.

From the pic it looks like the left one is the newest released coaxial version with sapphire, and the one on the right is the previous version with hesalite? I've been thinking of picking one up but I don't know if the newer version is worth the extra money instead of buying the older version 2nd hand. I mean, from my end it actually throws into question the prices other manufacturers set for their in-house watches. Like why are Tudor, Rolex, Omega, JLC, etc charging insane prices for watches with movements that are only slightly "better" than Chronometer grade ETA's?

Also if it means anything, Breitling does in fact develop their own in-house movements as well, which is more than can be said about a lot of manufacturers out there.

And they do interesting stuff like High Accuracy Quartz like their Emergency models, which have built in transponders.

People come down so hard on Breitling but honestly there are way worse actors out there in the watch space.

>Like why are Tudor, Rolex, Omega, JLC, etc charging insane prices for watches with movements that are only slightly "better" than Chronometer grade ETA's?
It's pretty obvious why they cost more. A lot of money goes into designing and engineering a watch movement from the ground-up. In terms of servicing, the in-house movements cost more because they don't have universal mass-produced parts that can be sourced easily/cheaply, and often you need to send them into specialist service centres because a regular watch repairman doesn't have the right tools and knowledge to work on it.

In most cases I would prefer a third party movement from ETA, Miyota, Sellita, etc. for the reasons that you laid out. But for a company to price a watch with 3rd party movements at the same level as watches with full in-house movements is stupid. Tudor sells their dive watches (with in-house movements) around the same price as that Breitling Superocean. The only reason Breitling charges the same amount is because they want to make fatter profit margins and they can get away with it because they know people will still buy it because it says Breitling on the dial.

>Nice trips but why would you have sold it. I’ve always wanted one too they have a nice lime colored on I wanted

So there's this stupid concept of a "watch journey" which is about the watches you buy and sell as you learn what you like and what you don't and where you eventually end up.
The "watch journey" actually means that there's a certain watch you want that's really expensive but you can't afford it, so you buy and flip a sequence of progressively more expensive shitters until you eventually buy the watch you wanted in the first place.

If you love that Sea Wolf for EXACTLY WHAT IT IS, then buy it. If you really want a, say, Rolex Submariner or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or whatever, then do NOT buy the Zodiac. Save your money. You won't be satisfied with the Zodiac since it's not your dream watch and when you sell it you'll take a loss, which will actually put you further from your goal of Fifty Fathoms ownership.

Really, the true purpose of the "watch journey" is to get you comfortable buying an expensive watch. i.e. if you can swing 200 bucks then 500 isn't so bad. If you can swing 500, then 1000 isn't that bad. Once you've paid a 1000 bucks for a watch, is 2000 that far off? And so forth until you can emotionally justify spending the 10k+ on the watch you want.

At most, you marvel at the movement for about ten minutes after you buy the watch. After that, you don't give a shit. A solid caseback and a thinner watch would make the watch more comfortable and wearable.

I like these pre-ceramic no-date subs. Keep in mind that "No papers" hurts the value a lot more than having no box would. You can buy a box (or a reproduction box that is indistinguishable from genuine) pretty easily. Having papers with the matching serial number is like a certificate of authenticity. A lot of dealers won't even touch a Rolex without the papers.

If it's genuine and resale doesn't matter to you, I say go for it. Just know that it's not going to shoot up in value over time like other Rolex watches do with complete box and papers.

I know what you mean, but that's also a silly argument these days since, companies have been using beige colored lume longer than they actually used the tritium lume that changes color. It's been decades. Plus, it's being used on watches that aren't even trying to mimic older watches.
