Are zippos still the ultimate fashionable EDC you can carry? The mere sound of it screams cool.
Or are there better lighters out there? Butane insert aside.

This is cooler, and more efficient, and you don't end up smelling like lighter fluid by handling it

i assumed that, but i wanted to ask first, since smoking is not fashionable. so i was wondering what fashionable could warrant a lighter. in any case, whatever lighter can be hidden inside whatever carrying container you utilize for your cigarettes is the most fashionable. you'll be standing outside in the rain with your head retracted into your jacket because it's cold. there's nothing fashionable about smoking.

I smoked a pack a day for years and used a Zippo, but that was just because the lighter affects the taste of the cigarette and I preferred the way my favorite brand tasted when lit with one. I'm also in the habit of opening Zippos slowly so that they just click and don't make the loud metallic sound typically associated with them.

Try cigar shops or especially places that sell tobacco pipes and accessories if you can find one, that's where I've seen them before. The real Dupont ones are stupid expensive but I've seen reasonable knockoffs that aren't totally insane, maybe $80-100 for passable quality.

Dohoho, Zippos start at €30, going up for anything fancy, going up through €75 up to €120.
Only cringelords spend their money on Zippos, let alone mods. Lighter flick tricks are all up there on the cringe level of 2005 amateur beatboxers.

they certainly look nice and are wildly impractical compared to a standard bic, so yes.
>Or are there better lighters out there?
most gas station bic lighters are going to be more useful, cheaper, and you won't feel like an idiot when someone steals it from you at a party. the other options are super tryhard like a plasma lighter or any non-zippo, non-disposable lighter

I've got my dad's 1959 Zippo but the only time I use it (after refilling it with fuel because it all evaporated...) is when I need to dress up for a wedding or funeral, to go along with my (modern) nickel plated cigarette case.

As a fashion accessory, Zippos are cool and classy and the construction top notch and history is neato but as a practical tool, a simple Bic disposable lighter is much better.

Max /fa/ - vintage all metal lighter that's not a Zippo

High /fa/ - vintage Zippo, the older the better

Modern /fa/ - all metal butane lighter

Daily /fa/ - Bic lighter, color-matched to the cigarette pack

pleb /fa/ - cheep shit Chinese lighter you get for free when you buy a carton of smokes which never run out of fuel, as it will break long before that, with the heat shield first falling off after a couple of days requiring you to keep pinching it back on, then the spark wheel completely breaks off while the lighter is still half full of butane rendering it utterly useless and you now have to ask someone to borrow their lighter, like a fucking hobo.

Zippos are cringe.

The reason smoking is cool is because it gives off an air of nonchalance. Spending more money than you need to on a smoking accessory diminishes that.

Every Zippo user I've ever met has made using a Zippo their "thing".

That's the opposite of nonchalance.
