After going back to the store and testing Guerlain Heritage EdP a couple of times more:
Opening still horrid. Drydown still really nice. Lasts long but doesn't really project that much, which is acceptable considering it might be a good daily driver. If you smell the cap of this at a store, you probably wouldn't buy it.

they don't have edp, it goes directly to parfum. I spoke to some dior rep at sephora (champs élysée). He told that basically they re two different fragrance. Parfum is not in this case a stronger fahrenheit edt

Thoughts on YSL Jazz? It's not available here in the US, but when I was in Paris a few months ago I smelled the La Collection version at Sephora and loved it immediately. First impression was maybe the most pleasant 80s fougere I've encountered.

They are different, but similar. It's small refinements and a bit of sweetness which make BdJ more fitting to modern times, as well as a stronger rosemary note instead of that dry patchouli. I like both, I own both, that being said the price for BdJ is indeed a bit high for what it offers. It outperfoms Zino on me, easily, but wearing BdJ only makes me want to wear sick amounts of Zino instead.
