>How accurate are Russian/Soviet watches anyway
luck of the draw/ adequate enough
soviet/russian watches mainly use calibers that are more than half a century old and are virtually unchanged.
vast majority of their watches dont even have quickset date (including modern vostoks)
there are also some russian brands who in recent times opted to use chinese calibers from seagull.

>People always shit on Soviet quality so I wonder why watches get a different view.
because the people who would buy soviet/russian watches are mostly doing it for the novelty. Accuracy is not a pressing concern, its about having something culturally different. Their relatively simpler movements and no frills purity is part of their charm.

You can always open the caseback and regulate the watch yourself. My old vostok keeps very good time.

Ah, so youre more interested in the curvature in the gears?

I am really not sure. I think it is a nice touch, although if my poor gear theory doesnt remember if it creates an advantage or not. Apart from the less weight obviously that is. If I were to guess, it allows for a greater application of torque to be applied to the shaft.

Heres a good resource if you want to sift through movements lol.

But if I had my guess why they pulled away from curved spoke gears is due to manufacturability as it would increase the complexity of finishing the gear

So this strap is awkward on my wrist. Currently the watch slides up and down and sometimes sits on the bottom of wrist. Its like the perfect hole would be one in between the two I have available on strap. Whats a good tool to use and method to add a hole so the strap, and watch, fit perfectly on my wrist.
