without that part, when you take off your watch theres a chance it will just slip off the strap (depending on the watch's design)

that extra part essentially locks the watch in place. You can hold the unworn watch by the buckle and it'll never fall out.

I want to get a Silver A168w just to pad out my shitter collection with a classic and it seems that depending on what region you're in they have one face or another, with 'WR' between the 'WATER RESIST' (This one seems to be for Europe) and then another one without the 'WR' but instead with a tiny 'U' in-between the bezel below 'WATER RESIST' (seems to be the one here in Aus)

there are lots and lots and lots of basic fliegers like that, from $100 to $6000+++. Other than the movement inside they have little outside visual difference except for the brand.

please dont spend good money to get a IWC that has average finishing to boot. They only coast on their "uhhhhh did you know we made those for the Luftwaffe during WWII?" heritage meme so they can charge people an arm and a leg for their "history"

The heyday of IWC watchmaking was in the mid 80s and throughout the 90s prior to Les Manufactures Horologeres being bought by Richemont. IWC was fortunate to have two genius technical designers among them, Richard Habring and Kurt Klaus. Klaus designed the Valjoux 7750 based caliber 7906, which was a crown operated perpetual calendar that was ingeniously simple and clever compared to other perpetual offerings at the time. It greatly reduced the odds of a customer breaking the mechanism and the brand has used the mechanism in some form ever since. However, LMH owned two other little brands - Jaeger LeCoultre and a fledgling, reborn A. Lange & Sohne. After their acquisition, and probably in an attempt to differentiate the brand, the focus went to more affordable sporty watches in steel and has stayed there ever since. I can see why people don’t like the modern watches because they don’t much appeal to me either. But Kurt Klaus is a Ludwig Oechslin tier genius when it comes to watchmaking and it’s hard to overstate his impact on the brand and the industry as a whole.

Then again, the people mocking IWC probably don’t know anything about watchmaking, or history, or even the brand itself, they just know it’s acceptable to dislike them at the moment.

if you are actually rich, you don't need normies to know you are rich, its already a normality to you.

And even if you are rich, there are actual HH brands you would rather get so you can show that off to your other equally rich friends.

when you realise this, you'll understand why rolex is so keen to stick to their designs. Because of how recognisable it is to regular normies who are their main clientele. These are not people who read and follow watch magazines to know what is the latest in baselworld and HH.

Bought this heavy bastard as my first watch on the white market for 18,000. It is a 12k watch new on the gray market. I wish I had a left hand Heuer Monaco, or just the 18k back in my pocket. Absolute suffering. Unironically bothers me thinking about it all the time and realistically I have the choice of keeping the watch or selling for at least as 8k spread at 10k if I’m lucky. Big rip

I’ll also add that getting a Rolex while it might be a new money move to some, if you get one from the AD it’s way less cancer to your finances then doing what I did for my first watch in pic related.

those seikos aren't worth much but its probably more holistic to think of the scratches as your father leaving his own personal mark on them.
if the scratches is deep on the crystal (as to affect the timereading) I would replace the crystal with a new one and also keep the original.
of course, this all depends on how fond you are of your father.

the value is a moot point if you aren't selling them, and people buying vintage would much rather get a watch that isn't messed with so they can decide what to do with it themselves.

Yes, Seiko and Orient look very different from each other so, if I wanted, let's say, an Orient, I wouldn't have to buy a Seiko that looks suspiciously like it, would I? Then why would I buy a Pagani that looks suspiciously like a Tudor?

>because you are actively making the thread worse when you could have easily posted the watches you were talking about
>NOOOOOOOO I'm not enjoying the thread cause images

Your spearging rants are truly laughable. Also, Tudor and Rolex are owned by the same people so THEY CAN'T RIP OFF EACH OTHER, you sad excuse for a human. Pagani, on the other side, is stealing a design that doesn't belong to them.

>why do you care this much that someone else wants to spend $100 buying a watch?
Why do care so much that you keep trying -and failing- to counterargument me?

>taking almost 20 minutes to think up something to reply to me
>still having to insert meme images
