>quick review on the Ted lapidus? Interested on which notes you can mainly pick up in the opening and drydown to give me an idea of the scent.
I have a vintage bottle but it apparently hasn't changed much, opening is this synthetic lilly of thvalley aroma molecules, it smells like a white floral, there is a little bit of fruitiness but its a very oldschool kind not heavily syrup sweet or gorumond. The mid and drydown are much mofr blended with individual notes hard to pick out but i do definitely get lavender and some warm smokey notes. The dirtyness is there i guess but its nothing like actual raunchy dirty perfumes, its more like if you stick your nose in it you get some hints of the kind of dirtyness you would expect from an 80s mens fragrance, more spicy notes than anything theat gives the impression of animalics or body odor.
From a distance you are mostly getting some floral notes, lavender and smokey notes. Totally fine for an office unless you wear 20 sprays at onece.

it's a good fragrance, pretty unique. the gasoline note isn't strong enough to be offputting to most people, it was a smash hit in the 80s-90s after all, so it did have mass appeal
that being said, its popularity back in the day means it's considered a bit of a "dad frag" by some. but then again it's also macho and might make women with daddy issues wet
just try it out, you should be able to find it at a store. the parfum is also a nice modernized, sweeter take that's not as macho

>> No.17244843

>>17244797
it's very different to the EDT and Parfum, hard to say if better or worse
it's more similar to Grey Vetiver - not as spicy as the EDT and Parfum, much less sweetness and ISO E overload and more of a focus on vetiver. actually quite a good cheaper substitute for that frag, not quite as old school smelling as Guerlain Vetiver

I missed these jokes. Did the Eros guy retire or does he do the Bois Imperial bit now?
Also, anyone try picrel?
A few of the notes and the cocky marketing style make me think they’re going for the Aventus crowd.
I had never heard of them before but I was recently told by a girl that she loves the smell of this.
Can anyone confirm whether it’s any good?

blind buy is part of the fun, but even to blind buy you have to be smart.

Don't spend more than $25-30, and don't believe anything from fragrantica.
buy only perfumes from olfactory families that you have already tried.

If you didn't like it, sell it, give it away, or exchange it before buying another one. Don't accumulate fragrances that you don't like just because they are cheap.

Alright fraggots, I'm boarding my (delayed) flight and tried lots of frags as per usual, will post my personal impressions since many of you can't find many of these at physical stores, all were tried on strips ofc, but they had coffe to clear my nostrils, which I used before every new frag sniff. Some of these are re-review. Will just give fragrantica scores for simplicity (hate, dislike, ok, like, love) just an indication, mind you i am relatively strict, don't like nor love without good reasons.

>Burberry Hero edp
dislike
>Gucci Guilty Absolute edp
dislike
>Chanel Pour Monsieur
like, mature and dated but still good if looking for that classic citrusy aromatic Man frag
>Dior High Energy edt
okay, meh, nothing special surely not worth dior money
>Versave Blue Jeans
like, aromatic cola/ sparkling vibes, fairly soft, not overly sweet at all
>Ralph Lauren Polo Green
dislike, the kind of fougere (?) that's too aromatic to like, sour. Drydown possibly less abrasive.
>Polo Black
okay
>Paco Rabanne 1 million edt
okay, i was too harsh las time, good spices and sweet, still not my thing, good if it is for you though
>Paco Rabanne 1 million Parfum
dislike, sickly sweet department, probably a great sickly sweetness, again, nothing I would ever wear
>Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet Man
ok, smells somewhat of shampoo, a little feminine
>Prada Femme edp
like/love, if I were a woman I would consider this, smells exactly like those mini fruit strawberry "yogurt" I ate as a kid, soft and fruity like that, not sickly synthetic
>Terre d'Hermes Parfum, pure Parfum
okay
>Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver
love, citrusy vetiver, still the best vetiver frag I have tried so far
>Guerlain Shalimar
Okay
>Givenchy Reserve Prive edp
Okay
>Davidoff Run Wild
Okay, sweet soft basic frag, good for what it is, not for me
Cont.

Tuscan Leather isn't really an easy to like, mass-pleasing comfy frag at all
it's more of a "confident and bold" kind of pick. very smoky and in your face leather
Ombre Leather is a bit more toned down and cozy if you want another Tom Ford leather, but still might be more edgy than you want

if you want mulled wine, Burberry London smells a bit like that. bad performance unfortunately but it's fairly cheap, so you can always spray it on heavily

Smell with intent. Unclog your sinsus. Actually focus on smelling shit. And sometimes perfumes are just blended in a way that it's hard to pick different notes. There is also different species of basil etc. The more olfactory experiences, and the more you broaden your palette the easier it gets. Just remember to focus solely on smelling shit. I feel like people have come around on Viking over the years. People were just expecting something Aventus-y because of the bottle. It's also a lot more classical than most popular fragrances on the market today, but I don't really know what people were expecting given that it's Creed. Aventus excluded, I find most Creed scents to be better suited to the 30+ crowd, and Viking especially has a gentlemanly scent profile. But I think you assessment is apt. I could see someone like Charles Dance pulling it off a lot better than someone with broccoli hair and a t-shirt. To me it is a very upscale scent, and at 500 fucking dollars it had better be.

Some other stuff I recommend to test the waters and see what you like and what you don't:
Dior Homme Intense - to check if you like iris ( and homosex, goes hand it hand really)
Any perfume from Francesca Bianchi - how you like dirty, and sultry oldschool animalic notes
Sel Marin James Heeley or Acqua di Sale Profumum Roma - do you like salty marine perfumes
Encre Noire Lalique - do you enjoy vetiver
Eau Rihla Eau de Parfum Diptyque - imho, best intro to leather
Santal 33 Le Labo or Piano Santal L'Orchestre Parfum or Debaser DS&Durga - (highly suggest durga) to check if, and how you like your sandalwood
Baccarat Rouge 540 Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum Maison Francis Kurkdjian - to see if you enjoy the baccarat DNA, you may go noseblind real quick to it, but if you enjoyed what you did smell, and you have positive reactions from people, try other fragrances with baccarat DNA, there may be some that you wont go anosmic to.

Is BDC edp worth having? it's elegant, it's one of the first fragrances in the "blue" category characterized by it's mens showergel scent, it's elegant within its means and unoffensive.

I already have ADG Absolu as a gift, do you think I should just continue to use that as my cheap spray, I don't use much, like 3 sprays pretty much
Should I even bother with the travel sprays either, I don't want to end up becoming the guy that wears generic clean scent that everyone else got

5mls? why? samples have 1-2mls, if you cannot find samples or test it in a local shop, some spergs from your local fb groups will be more than happy to make samples for you. If you want a traveler container to respray during the day, just take the bottle with you.
For now you are doing too much worrying, and too little smelling. Get some samples from the lists I have posted that seem most intresting to you, do some testing, see how you like it, how other people like it on you. Come back after that.

>>17247227
you're ruining your frags by shaking them and applying right away, you need to wait atleast 4 or 5 days before using them if shaken, by shaking the bottle you heat up the alcohol and oils and they begin to decay and you lose your top, middle and base notes. dont be one of those fags who sprays their wrist and rub it together.

Call me a schizo all you want, fact of the matter is that L'Oreal fucked me over on two bottles of "beast mode" fragrances and I will poop in their mailbox. I don't care if it was just a bad batch or whatever, if you're in the top 10 European companies by market cap you should have your quality control in order. I don't accept poor QC and neither should you. Same with bad reformulations (just discontinue it) or diluted stuff.

>>17246841
Agreeing with >>17246848, neither is it discontinued nor should you wear a fragrance specifically for the gym.

>>17246865
If that's the Gent's Scents screenshot or whatever, you can ignore it. It's simply not discontinued. Now I haven't written to L'Oreal customer support to talk to some drone in a foreign country, I simply went "online" and checked "availability" at various websites. Notino straight up stocks all sizes except the 40 mL (which might be discontinued, idk). Douglas, Sephora, Galeria and online-perfumeries such as parfumdreams also have it in stock. How old is that screenshot by now? A year? And why am I, of all people, defending AdG Profumo?

>>17247186
Get Cool Water. It beats Aspen by lasting 3-4x as long, so you get a full hour out of it instead of 15 minutes.

>>17247227
Technically they can, but usually that requires some kind of degradation. If you keep them out of direct sunlight and within normal temperature ranges, nothing should happen - unless you have some real vintage stuff made from all natural materials which does who knows what.

4.2oz Fleur du Male on sale for 48 bucks at FragranceX. This is discontinued and expensive, so you should buy it. It is technically possible it's the "La Cologne" version which supposedly isn't as good. The bottles are identical. I doubt it though. It is also possible that it was a listing mistake and you will get refunded and order canceled.

Kek, birch smells smoky in fragrance, Bois Imperial offers you the smell of a fresh cut plank of wood.
I sampled alot of woody, piney, resinous, alot of them do not smell anything near that what Bois Imperial can offer.

HAHAHA
why do you need to post screenshots of stuff online in attempt to "prove" your claim of a smell profile? maybe you are talking about birch tar? do you know the difference between these two and why the latter might smell smoky?

>only if you convince me to buy TLPH Sport as my everyday every seasonal scent. Or should I buy TLPH and call it a day.
Sport is a weird one. Mine 2016 bottle has floral animalic skank. It opens up with weird aquatic "melon?" and gets dirtier and dirtier. People say it reminds them of kouros freicheur, but i only have sport 1986 and cologne 2003 and none of them is similar
