I have a vintage bottle but it apparently hasn't changed much, opening is this synthetic lilly of thvalley aroma molecules, it smells like a white floral, there is a little bit of fruitiness but its a very oldschool kind not heavily syrup sweet or gorumond. The mid and drydown are much mofr blended with individual notes hard to pick out but i do definitely get lavender and some warm smokey notes. The dirtyness is there i guess but its nothing like actual raunchy dirty perfumes, its more like if you stick your nose in it you get some hints of the kind of dirtyness you would expect from an 80s mens fragrance, more spicy notes than anything theat gives the impression of animalics or body odor.
From a distance you are mostly getting some floral notes, lavender and smokey notes. Totally fine for an office unless you wear 20 sprays at onece.

Can you recommend something like pic related without the synthetic/metal aspect and with more woodiness?
Looking for something woody and fresh that's also a bit flowery.

Should i cop lalique pour homme if i already have drakkar as a fougere? I'm not the biggest fan of fougeres but thinking of copping this one.

Is it any good? Based on note breakdown it seems better than drakkar.

it's a good fragrance, pretty unique. the gasoline note isn't strong enough to be offputting to most people, it was a smash hit in the 80s-90s after all, so it did have mass appeal
that being said, its popularity back in the day means it's considered a bit of a "dad frag" by some. but then again it's also macho and might make women with daddy issues wet
just try it out, you should be able to find it at a store. the parfum is also a nice modernized, sweeter take that's not as macho

Tuscan Leather isn't really an easy to like, mass-pleasing comfy frag at all
it's more of a "confident and bold" kind of pick. very smoky and in your face leather
Ombre Leather is a bit more toned down and cozy if you want another Tom Ford leather, but still might be more edgy than you want

if you want mulled wine, Burberry London smells a bit like that. bad performance unfortunately but it's fairly cheap, so you can always spray it on heavily

I can pick up one or two of the described notes and those are usually notes i have a real life reference on like wood, spices and the like. But most often even things I have a reference on get lost, like the supposed basil in Bois Imperial for example. Am I just a noselet or am i normal?

There is also different species of basil etc. The more olfactory experiences, and the more you broaden your palette the easier it gets. Just remember to focus solely on smelling shit. I feel like people have come around on Viking over the years. People were just expecting something Aventus-y because of the bottle. It's also a lot more classical than most popular fragrances on the market today, but I don't really know what people were expecting given that it's Creed. Aventus excluded, I find most Creed scents to be better suited to the 30+ crowd, and Viking especially has a gentlemanly scent profile. But I think you assessment is apt. It is technically possible it's the "La Cologne" version which supposedly isn't as good. The bottles are identical. I doubt it though. I sampled alot of woody, piney, resinous, alot of them do not smell anything near that what Bois Imperial can offer.

Sport is a weird one. Mine 2016 bottle has floral animalic skank. It opens up with weird aquatic "melon?" and gets dirtier and dirtier. People say it reminds them of kouros freicheur, but i only have sport 1986 and cologne 2003 and none of them is similar
