Do you want to get into fragrances as a hobby or what are your motivations? My personal frugal guide for fragrances is the following:
1. Always sample before buying
2. Try to get free or very cheap sample decants, you want to try out what it smells like on your skin for a whole day
3. Make sure you test the frag again, and see if you still like it.
4. If you absolutely love the fragrance, wait until it goes on sale using price checker websites, and then buy it
5. Set a specific amount of money you are willing to spend on fragrances, this will deter FOMO buying some shitty frag.

Good list of popular date crowdpleasers. Few gripes:
1 Million Prive is discontinued.
Code Absolu and Code Profumo might be discontinued, but I'd wait before I personally believe that. Current discontinuation hype might drive prices up.
L'Homme Ideal EdP is good for cuddling, but doesn't really project. Extreme is stronger in projection if you can get past the opening (which smells cheap to me).
Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Signature should be mentioned together with Uomo. It's less sweet and has way more tonka and ambroxan, making it almost coffee-showergel like. Performance is sublime for the price, that stuff lasts hours.

Notice and word of warning for based Bois Imperial (BI) shillers:
it has been brought to my attention that certain low-IQ individuals simply cannot handle the superiority of BI over their favourite (inferior) fragrances, and have sheepishly resorted to filtering out those of us with taste, excluding posts (via the 4chan-x extention) with such phrases as "BI", "bois imperial", "B.I", etc.
For future reference, when promoting Sir. Bisch's product on the thread, please refrain from using the intuitive name for the fragrance, and instead use your preferred obscure term for the fragrance to evade the plebians' phrase filter.

Examples of potential alternative phrases include, but are not limited to: "B-I", "Bo1s 1mperi4I", "holy grail", "1305 1M93RIA1" etc.

Thank you for you patience and cooperation in these trying times, and keep doing the Lord's work, gentlemen.

>green labdanum
>Perfumer Quentin Bisch claims that this fragrance was done to address his prejudice against cistus, a.k.a. labdanum or the resin of the rockrose, a sort of exposure therapy for a workplace phobia. He’s done it with a harmony of green and resinous tones true to the material but extra, with the strong rich smells of paint and glue that some of us frankly find better than roses. It ties together the animalic, the mineral and the vegetal in one huge eerie accord that feels like the final answer to a medieval theological question.

I may rub some people the wrong way, however. Skip the cheap designer phase. Leap right over the sauvage, spice bomb, ultramale, Bleu de Chanel, Aventus&Clones, layton... you know where I'm going.

A good general rule of thumb is, if fragrance isn't a brands original and main export, stay away.

You don't necessarily have to go niche, but you have to do your own homework and effort. No one is going to spoonfeed you their secret-weapons, and the people who do are shills (which this sub is obviously heavily influenced by). The stuff I buy sells out fast in limited batches, why the f#$&, would I want more competition? So I can pay more due to increased demand?

I don't mean to come off elitist or audacious, we are still here to have fun and enjoy the hobby. Think of it like music, start doing some exploring yourself instead of listening to the radio.

It's better to have one absolute BANGER of a perfume than to have 10 meh, quality over quantity imo.

I'm not going to name my collection, half because I'm lazy, and other half previously stated. But with a little bit of homework and effort (also previously stated) you can figure it all out. (Also if you look lower right drawer, those are my unloved step children designer frags, that do not deserve to share the same platform as the bangers.

Sorry for lengthy rant, I hope someone gets value instead of just rustling Jimmies. Just saying the stuff I wish I heard when I first started. - one house recommendation: Meleg.

Nigga please, you’ve attentionwhored with photos of your collection hundreds of times. No one who’s been around for 1year+ here won’t buy your “a mysterious patrician suddenly coming out of the bushes to spread words of wisdom” you having both a dozen of Rojas and Bortnikoffs/TRNP/Meleggs just show how much of a confused noselet you are. Your not much better than them in all honesty. You like crowdpleasers (like your Roja Dove which is less niche than many warm-spicy designer scents), yet you don’t have a single designer frag. Your taste seem to run vintage judging by like 50% of your bottles yet you don’t own a single vintage fragrance and prefer to buy overpriced, limited-run releases that often just try to mimic the greatness of old Guerlains, Carons, Fragonards etc. Even if you listened closer to what the perfumers standing behinds these brands that you love so much have to say, you’d understand you’re in the wrong here. Your modus operandi is just expensive=good, bud and it’s painful to read your pretentious posts seeing through that. Even your selection is not original and basically as someone above says redundant to what Wafts like. I can see why people deride your collection here

It's still good, although some frags were discontinued. Bulgari Black should be kicked out and Fahrenheit should be chosen as the starter in that region. not really. it's a competent basic woody frag at a decent price, but nothing worth anywhere near the amount of attention it's getting in this thread.

Can I get a normie fragrance recommendation?

And no for the love of god I'm not autistic, I'm not reading that flow chart. Besides, I don't actually know what I like

>hurr durr how have you made it to adulthood and you don't know what smells you like

I had surgery as an adult that took my sense of smell of the smell equivalent of legally blind to 20/15. So no, I have no clue whether I like vanilla or lavender or honeydew more, and I'm not about to try 50 million samples just to figure it out.

Here's what I can provide - I'm looking for something to wear in the fall, I live in a south/midwest city (so it's hot, but humidity is not an issue), I go into a tech office 1-3x a week, I like to swing dance, and I like to dress nice - I wear a lot of tailored wool and linen pants/chinos. The shirts I'm a little more understated, just usually a tailored bonobos polo or maybe an outlet polo, occasionally an OCBD. Same for the shoes. Just some old used brown AE's & black AE's.

What stands out about me - I have nipple length hair. but I don't smoke weed, i dont give off stoner vibes. I'm also pretty small and short, so... i mean... idk, i doubt my cologne should be giving off paul bunyan vibes (but i am pretty handy by hobby). I'm not a check flannel type of guy if you know what i mean.

I just want something everyone around me will appreciate. I couldn't give two flying fucks about standing out, I would rather just be timelessly well presented. Oh and i'd appreciate it if it's something that's easy to acquire. You know, available on ebay or at nordstroms or whatever the fuck you consider "easy to access".
