Now on to review my last sample. Next time I'll order some MFK.

>Tauer LDDM
Very dry opening, woody, obviously oriental. It's crepuscular, intoxicating, with amber and spices, dried woods, foreign smells. I dont smell coriander, I'm getting woods and amber with a tinge of cumin and jasmine that's not at all obnoxious and brings everything together.
What sets it apart from other orientals I've come across is a beautifully dry, rustic bitterness. This isn't luxurious; it's natural, raw.

Like the name suggests, this is a "place" frag. But this is not a sultan's harem or any of the usual lavish images conjured by orientals: it's a forgotten temple in Petra, a sunset on Arrakis or a meteor shower over a caravanserai.
It's not boldly sensual or opulent like you might expect of an unapologetically oriental fragrance, instead there's a mystery to it, an elusive, soft and smoky darkness that some call masculine but that I can definitely picture on a confident, playful but elegant woman; I would love to smell this on a girl, it's so complex, deep and smooth. Not stereotypically seductive, but I feel like either sex could make this attractive and inviting, because there's a poetic romance to LDDM. It's the kind of scent that wraps itself around you and brings an aura with it, and this aura is fascinating: complex, shadowy, warm, calm yet powerful with a hint of something mystical.
This is a night scent and I think it can be worn in any season.

LDDM is truly great, yet I'm debating whether to buy a bottle. I'm not sure if it's "my" kind of frag, as in if it fits my personality. Ganymede does, but LDDM might smell too attractive to me personally, maybe because I like oriental girls. What I mean is, this is 100% the frag I'd give my gf, but I'm not sure I want it on myself even though it's lovely and not clearly feminine. It would be a great date frag, but maybe not on me.
Even still, LDDM is a 10/10. Highly recommend anons sample this. Are the other Tauer frags just as good?

order a fragrance a few weeks ago and it finally arrived today. the shipping box, bottle, and its packaging is damaged.
use the sites 'live chat' to contact customer service and explain the issue, request a return/refund.
cs sends me an email... what the hells the point of the 'live chat' then?
they have me upload photos of the damage to an external link.
upload doesnt work proper. try uploading again. shit still doesn't work properly.
contact cs again. they direct me to that same link. try uploading again and get a 'TOO MANY UPLOADS' message.
contact cs again. i'm told a claim has been filed and it could be a few weeks before anything comes of it. they have to contact the shipping service, and they'll send out a courier to inspect the package.

what the fuck.
just send me a god damn return label. i don't want this busted shit.

thanks for reading my blog post.

UNUM is such a strange frag, I've been wearing the same sample intermittently for a few weeks now and I still can't quite put my finger on it
it mainly smells like burnt incense, quite a bit of acrid smoke with it, and there's something that makes me think "oily" as well, it's as if I was close to an oil lamp loaded with tar
imagine the smell incense would have if it produced a thick, black smoke when burned, it's balsamic and warm but also frighteningly black and cold in a sense
then there's a tiny bit of cloves maybe, oakmossa and something dry and woody, but they stay in the background all the time, the balance of this frag doesn't change significantly over time, if not for some of the smoky incense fading and leaving some space to softer embers and amber
that might have been phonological priming to make me think of amber
at any rate, it's terribly good and one of the best scents I've had the pleasure of trying, but I can't exactly put my finger on it

Received my samples of MFK earlier today. I really wanted to try Masculin Pluriel but I couldn't order that. I've already sampled Gentle Fluidity Silver and can absolutely recommend sampling it (9/10, fbw). MFK frags feel a bit more modern, almost boring in a few places.
>724
White florals and soap. A woman could wear this. A woman shouldn't wear this. 3/10 because it's long-lasting and powerful, kinda the shtick of Kurkdjian.
>Amyris Homme
It has the same (coco)nut-amber-vanilla mix in it as Jazz Club and Le Beau Le Parfum, but it seems to be more subtle after a few minutes. Definitely didn't wear this long enough to get a proper impression of it due to location where I sprayed it (had to wash it off). So far, I'd give it a 6/10.
>Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait
Imagine something like Stronger With You Absolutely, but then turned into a more feminine-leaning version and ambed up to eleven with better balance. Sweetness at the strength no man should wear. But is it good? Sadly, it is, but only on women. Easily 8/10.
>Grand Soir
Spicy opening blast with a lot of sweetness, like OG Layton formulation opening mixed with the Tauer LDDM opening, but that fades quickly. It leaves behind a spicy amber-vanilla mix. I have absolutely smelled this before in a way - Profumum Roma Patchouly smells really close, but Grand Soir replaces the patchouli notes in it with vanilla. I loved Patchouly and I feel like this is the more "crowd-pleasing" version of it. Thought my nose was damaged so I also sprayed my Patchouly sample later to confirm it. Anyway, Grand Soir stayed with me the whole day and the single spray blasted me all the time. Easily a 9/10 and worthy of a full bottle. This is an evening fragrance, though, while Gentle Fluidity Silver can easily be worn all day.

>>17224335
I have tried LDDM, Au Coeur du Desert, Lonestar Memories, Sundowner, L'Oudh and Un Rose de Kandahar, and LDDM and maybe Lonestar Memories are the best, with LDDM being the only full bottle worthy ones.

Nice, I'm eager to try the MFK frags now. Which ones would you say are the most worth sampling? I'm guessing BR540, GFS, Grand Soir, then what?
>Lonestar Memories
Might give it a try if it's available on sample sites then. I'm looking for a shadowy "noir" scent, something fit for dates and nights, the darker, dimly lit, more interesting alternative to Jazz Club's pristine and somewhat boring boozy smokiness. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tried my sample of Bois Imperial this morning again, this fragrance is really that good.
It's woody, spicy, fresh at the same time, it also slaps you in the face in the morning and gives you a healthy boost for the whole day.
It's also niche quality for a fair price, without price eruptions like other (less good) niche brands do.
I already own Ganymede, but i most definitely gonna buy a full bottle of Bois Imperial.

Yes and like the other anon said, EDP I think would be best bet. EDT is the most popular, is more fresh and has more prominent edges imo, Parfum is good but a bit too dark for daily use, leans colder weather. I'd rec Bleu over Sauvage since its a bit less popular, has a more subdued and everyday wearable character. I know far too many people who wear Sauvage and its a bit too brash in all its forms aside from elixir which is its own thing.

Depends on the climate, really. If it's hot and humid, you're obviously going to want something light and fresh since you'll be sweating. If you can score AdG Profumo, get it. The new Armani Code Parfum should be out now. Nikos Sculpture Eau de Toilette is an older one but still very citrusy sweet. Has orange blossom, lemon, and tonka bean. Missoni Wave, Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau (if you're a half a fag).

It's not some secret sauce, it's the lavender. It's a very popular soap/detergent smell and CW is chock full of it. Take Le Male, it's also going to have that element. I hated CW when I got it because of the lavender and how dated it smelled, left it alone for a month or two, and then it hit me, it's actually so good. It's still kinda dated and grating, but very yuppie. It's hip to be square.

if you want to explore fig:
Fig Man Carner Barcelona - smells like fig showergel, very blue-ish
Philosykos Eau de Parfum Diptyque - extremely creamy fig, very long lasting but subtle
Philosykos Eau de Toilette Diptyque - much greener version the edp, it gets creamy only on the drydown, much less dense
Athenean James Heeley - a bit less creamy Philosykos edp, more complex with hints of green throughout, my favourite fig fragrance
Ichnusa Profumum Roma - extremely bitter green fig tree, vivid, sap, different from any other fig fragrance
Fico di Amalfi Acqua di Parma - citrusy with fig undertones, lasts 6 hours top
Premier Figuier Extreme L'Artisan Parfumeur - something inbetween philosykos edp and edt, but instead of becoming more intresting and complex like athenean it feels half-assed
Pulp Byredo - overipe fruit, vegetable stand, very intresting but not really wearable
Figuier Eden Giorgio Armani - light, green and misty fig, airy with not much substance
