I’m right handed. The difference between my two wrists in size is 0.78 inches (2cm). I figured that downsizing the bracelet for the left wrist leaves some wiggle room that I don’t particularly like. Whereas on my right hand it has a perfect fit. Shouldn’t I just wear my watch on my right and become a leftie or am I overthinking something no one will even notice? I mean, even left handed people wear their watches on their left hand so is it a meme to not wear it on your dominant hand to prevent bumps?

I've had it for a little more than a year now and I really enjoy it. In some aspects it really feels like a complete luxury watch, on other days it's just a nice reliable tool. It has its quirks but i like it, for some reason i love the lack of AR coating. I don't know what it is, i own other watches with sapphire crystal and double ar coating and I actually miss the reflection on those. For instance this pic, maybe it's my ADHD but I find myself playing with the reflections and the light multiple times a day, the finishing of the indices looks even better when the light is reflected in different ways. It also gives the dial a certain variety because the color changes under different lights. It looks so different outside to inside for example. But that's my opinion of the blue dial, not sure how the black dial is in comparison.

>>17224000
from my point of view yes. quartz is superior in every other way. only other advantage automatic has is that you don't have to replace any battery, but that's negated by the servicing required throughout the years. if there was a solar sweeping quartz, it would literally mog every automatic in every way possible for a fraction of the price

>> No.17224024

>>17224019
Yeah i would say minimum 600 dollars and even then unless its a common movement it will be a pain to repair compared to just buying another copy of the watch. If your aim is to keep the mechanical as a piece for your whole life, use it, and/or sell it forward at least aim for 800+. Now that's not to say every mechanical watch is a porcelain vase you will shake into non function by wearing but you will eat a service charge if you wear the watch frequently.

It's difficult to be completely utilitarian about watches today, as they have never been more useless than now. They are in fact, jewelry. To the point that even cheap ones like casios are mostly seen as lifestyle choices, rugged activewear gshock and nerdy fw91 alike.

It depends on the watch and manufacturer but a reason to not bother with cheaper mechanicals is servicing it will cost 2-3x the cost of the watch on the first service not to mention life time so you might as well get something decent if you want one. It's like a boat, you can buy a cheap beater boat from the marina and then eat thousands in upkeep costs for your shit free boat or just get a decent boat and have those same costs but a better boat.

These people are retarded,
A seiko nh35 costs $35, buy one take it to your watchmaker and he can swap it out in 5 minutes, he isn't going to charge $500.
Anything that uses an eta 2824, you can buy a full new movement on ebay for less than $200 same deal replacement is a 5 minute job.
I mean you should also be getting the seals replaced and stuff like that to maintain water resistance but it won't cost $500 to service a seiko unless a watchmaker just gives you a high quote hoping you will fuck off because he doesn't want to do the work.
You can look up the servicing costs for any major brand, they will have it posted on their website somewhere if you want to send it to the manufacturer to get it serviced. Iirc omega charges something like $500 for a full overhaul cleaning etc.
Any way just look up actual servicing costs nobody that posts in these threads still knows anything about watches
