/btg/ - BOOT GENERAL - HORSEBUTT EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
no
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day.

Congrats on discovering that Rose Anvil is just another youtube clown whose "business model" for lack of a better term is to shill what their sponsors give them and clickbait for views and likes
The actual content isn't important, only the engagement with the content. 99% of his viewers cannot afford half of what he reviews so he tells them what they want to hear, namely that cheap shit like Thursday boots and Blake stitched boots are "totally just as good, trust me guise" as objectively better options
So then the pajeets and broke college students just starting out with better clothing choices think "wow this guy is on to something, better like and subscribe" and now Rose Anvil has suckered more people into giving him clicks. Remember he makes his money off their clicks and getting them to open his affiliate links
The actual content of his channel is completely irrelevant. He'll cut open dogshit and tell you it's great if he can Jew you into believing it

he needs to cut the shilling and half of the shit and just go back to heres a shoe, heres a shoe in half, here are the bits. dont comment on what's good or not because he doesnt know how to get that across properly

What the fuck

On new shoes I usually apply a layer of renovateur and wax straight out of the box for protection (since god knows how long it's been since that piece of leather was made)
It never really sticks the first time, I wear them a couple of times and then reapply. It also gets rid of scuffs etc. The second time the wax really makes a layer and that seems to protect against most things.

there is a "bump" on the welt where the vamp and cap toe leathers overlap in the stitchdown
but they don't overlap at the front of the welt, because the vamp leather does not reach all the way over the toes, meaning if you removed the cap toe leather your toes would be showing
it's a faux cap toe like most fashion boots
this is a very bizzare choice for a "work boot", fashion boots do it because you don't have two layers of leather at the front, making it look bulky and clownish
but here you have a very distinct line half way across the cap toe, where the thick vamp leather ends
it's so abrupt you can see the waxes being displaced over it in the waxed flesh, it looks really weird and angular

What are you even trying to say?
I'll give you a few facts.
- heels look good and people are narcisist
- people who want comfortable shoes do not buy leather boots or shoes with heels
- people who buy traditionally made boots do it either because they want to look good or because they are obsessed with handcrafted shoes

There isn't a single person who isn't delusional that goes " oh yeah these boots with a 3 cm heel are so comfortable I love wearing them and hiking in them all day". I did and it became a terrible experience pretty fast.
>>17225883
Cretin, the presence or lack of clothes doesn't affect your posture. Use your fucking brain before calling people names.
>>17225889
I understand that but the industry never moved on. It's not like boots were always made the same way, there was no goodyear welting in the 800's, now that we know how bad heels are the industry can improve upon the design. Take your average hiking boot, for example, they don't have heels, they have a lifted sole and a recess before the back part of the sole to mimic a heel and provide grip, or they have none at all.
The industry stopped evolving because leather shoes were abandoned and now it's been revitalized by hipsters that only care about looking cool.
