Alright, first impressions on New York Intense.
When I smelled the opening, I thought this frag would be wasted on me, because I'm overall not a fan of citrus, and NYI features lemon as its most prominent and most immediately noticeable note.
A few minutes later though, it took a different turn and my opinion for citrusy frags has changed.
The opening is very fresh, lemon/bergamot take the center stage, with a very slight underlying smokiness which I'm guessing is incense.
Unlike many citruses, NYI isn't fizzy and overly light or insubstantial. The freshnes is there, but it's grounded by a peppery, somewhat spicy backbone.

It smells clean, but I wouldn't say it's a generic, laundry detergent cleanness. It's more intricate, like a special kind of polish you might smell in a solemn and extremely well-kept place.
I don't think it's an everyday scent, because it's very elegant and not even slightly casual. Some "luxurious" scents are relaxed enough to be used casually, like GIT for example, but to me this isn't one of them. NYI is masculine in a mature but not overtly sensual way; it's classy, very refined, fresh but not summery in the slightest. I would wear it for an important meeting, any time I need to wear a suit and come off as sophisticated and competent. It's not the kind of frag that "wears you" because it's not outlandish and audacious enough for that, and I think anyone can pull off NYI, but if you wear this with shorts people are going to smell the discrepancy.

So yeah, I think I've emphasized enough that NYI is the archetypal elegant, classy, luxurious scent. For me it's a 9/10, about as pleasant as I expected, but I don't think I'm going to buy a full bottle unless the drydown blows my mind. So far I still prefer Ganymede, NYI is a tad too refined and sumptuous, and as a result lacks the otherworldly beauty that made me love Ganymede. It's too civilized and not alien enough, but it's probably the best at what it does.

What are your thoughts on based Quentin’s Kenzo Homme EDT Intense and EDP? Been using EDTI troughout this summer and just got the EDP, many people say it reminds them of Ganymede. So far I love both scents, very unique, long lasting and cheap, tried BI in store and didn’t like it.

I have a bottle of yatagan and quite enjoy it, a slightly sweet castorium moss, some herbal elements. Performance is eh, but i love how it smells.
