Yes they let you pick a few standard configuration options but if you want to do something else or something not listed as an option they won't want to make it even if it's stuff they offer. They're pushing standardized boots where you can pick your leather and sole and moving away from actually doing custom boots.

I found the post I was talking about and the guy wanted to add a toe cap and do v bar soles on his tanker pro order. Apparently it took a large amount of effort to get them to agree even though those are both standard options they offer on other boots and should not be difficult to add to a made to order pair. He also had a request about adding eyelets to hold the false tongue that they completely refused to accommodate. They are pushing standard configurations and trying to move away from actually custom speced boots.
