So I have a bit of free time and spare cash so I'm getting to some of my other trash casios. If I change the hand on this thing and put it on a band, could this thing pass as a field watch? It has a screw down crown and caseback, easy to read dial, 100m water resistance when I'll replace the gaskets. Could maybe try changing the dial completely along with the hands. Fun little project.

It's because the stem isn't properly installed or one of the gears in the plastic drive train is stripped. Extremely cheap movement. I've replaced my battery in mine before and I also replaced a badly scratched crystal with a new sapphire crystal also replaced the gaskets in mine. When I put the stem back in I had the same problem. You just need to be gentle with it putting it back in. These cheap movements are extremely delicate for what they are.

All of that is correct except I disagree with iconic, microbrand, and vintage military inspired, iconic is ok to describe any fashion item as long as it really is iconic (like chuck taylors or wayfarers), microbrand is a real thing and owning a microbrand watch is cringe, and how else would you describe a watch that is supposed to look like an old military watch, but is larger, has domed sapphire, etc?

I've never been impressed by Métiers d'Arts.
Many brands are on this segment : Jacob & Co, Van Cleef & Arpels, Channel, Louis Vuitton, Blancpain, Breguet... All it says about these brands is they make a shit ton of money on mass produced luxury goods, so they can afford to pay large teams of people working on 5 watches a year. Also I unironically think it's kind of tasteless... It's not a coincidence if the larger markets for thes watches are chinks and arabs.

I'm more impressed by a brand's capacity to produce large amounts of cool/interesting/accurate/well built watches.
