Can confirm, did manual labour for one year and I considered suicide if it were to become my future. To wake up every morning I sat down in the shower in the dark, at work I would constantly think of other things to try and not get too depressed, and after work I had no energy to do anything else so I often just laid in bed and watched youtube. Didn't even make a lot of money in exchange for the piss poor quality of life.

I think the only difference is that back then it was made for people who couldn't afford then-current Rolexes. Now they mostly rehash vintage Rolex designs and sell to people who can't afford old Rolexes either.

Part of the reason Tudor began to suffer in the 80s and 90s is that you could buy an old Rolex for the price of a new Tudor and that was a no-brainer. But now that old Rolexes are also more expensive than a new Tudor, Tudor has a reason to exist again.

Buddy, you're an airline pilot, you sit down a fuckton. I hear you, I'm a software engineer, I've been sitting on my arse for 2/3rds of my waking life, so I know a thing or two about health shit that creeps up on you.

The good news is you might not be dying young. The bad news is that if I'm right it's going to hurt a bunch to fix. The short is that you've got shitty posture from sitting down for very long periods at a stretch (no pun intended). This'll have distorted your pelvis and the way you tread. Knees feeling like they're fucked, and sitting down for long periods -- that's, among other things, what happens when your posture shifts rearward, towards your heels, and you're feeling fucked because (unlike me, probably) you haven't got massive calves to support yourself from having fucked up legs all your life.

Can you raise each of your legs so that your thigh is horizontal, while standing on the other leg? If so, this is something an actual doctor can refer you to a physiotherapist for, and they'll unfuck you in a couple of weeks.

naw i just tried that i can do that just fine, i even can pull it up a lot more than horizontal, its only restriced by my thigh pressing against the rest of my body at some point
dont feel any pain
i feel the pain on the front of the knee when walking stairs after sitting a long time, a little under the kneecap.
now that i "walked" it off though i just tried stepping up the bed and i can barely feel it.
its worst after sitting a long time, and sometimes after sleeping, in the morning.

There's actually very little that distinguishes rolex from other industrial scale manufacturers. Omega for instance at least has Co-Axial movements to rest their hat on.

90% of the rolex cache is branding that rests upon people who wore them 70 years ago and it has very little to do physical attributes. This isn't to say they are bad, but they just are not significantly better in terms of manufacturing than other high end makers.

This. They're well made luxury watches, but they're not well made in a way that justifies the price premium or availability versus other makes. I don't understand what you think is significantly different about their QC compared to Omega. Everything is industrially finished and they do make mistakes sometimes just like every other large scale manufacturer. Like it is true that they are rarely misaligned but no watch I have had over $1000 in cost has had basic QC issues like that.

>Haven't we pretty much agreed by now that co-axial movements are more or less a meme?
I mean I don't think they deliver a tangible benefit to the end user other than longer service intervals but neither does 90% of what watch manufacturers sell their watches on. It is however at least materially distinct from other watches that Omega is competing against. I guess if you're a George Daniels fan, that's cool.
