Hello frens, I have spent the past 3 years since my HS graduation working bummy jobs and being stuck in a haze of indecision about where to go, what to do, etc. I am enlisting y'alls help because I give up. Please people, suggest cool neighbourhoods and cities I could restart life in. Preferably in English speaking countries but I'm open minded.

while Mexico is way cheaper, you have to take into account that the average income for a college graduate is 600 dlls a month, which equals to 12,000 pesos. I am not kidding.
Unless you have external income from the US or Europe. You are gonna have a bad time here, since those 600 dlls a month places are unattainable for the average person.

idk lad, for a start lower middle class people don't really live in filth. The fact of the matter is that for a while now the only people who have been able to afford to consistently pursue art/music/misc. creative stuff in London is people with rich parents - it's simply not affordable to work 3 days a week as a barista/etc. and spend the rest of your time making stuff anymore. I definitely feel that this has changed creative scenes within the city for the worse - with a lot of trust fund kid stuff there's an air of pretentiousness that I can't relate to, and when the only people who are really doing stuff in the city for the most part are said trust fund kids, starts to feel a little bit dire and like there's not much for me to check out
That said I did find a studio in Deptford for £850 on Rightmove, if I searched for places just outside Deptford could probably find something even cheaper

It's hard to tell if the years you spend navigating your creative impulses are actually a waste. Sometimes those "wasted years" turn out to be the vital moments in life that spark a project or plant the seed for some kind of creative revelation. Maybe it was David Lynch (or someone else - who knows) that said in order to be creative, you've got to dedicate yourself to wasting an inordinate amount of time. That's how you catch ideas.

couldn't agree less, the internet has done nothing but exacerbate the issues inherent to trying to "come up" as in artist
>if your art is good it will speak for itself
is a fallacy belying the fact that regardless of how good you are you're reliant on luck to actually get the widespread interest needed to turn art into something viable

you can speed things up by slowly cultivating an audience, since the larger your reach is the higher your chances of the powers that be deciding to recognize you for your work, but contrary to what one would think the internet has not made that process any easier. you either cuck yourself and hope that the algorithm blesses you by putting your work in front of as many people as possible or do exactly the same things you would be before the internet, i.e. embedding yourself in the scene, networking with other artists and the types of people that like your type of art, and trying to grow organically that way. nothing is different, it's just digital instead of in person. not to mention that getting people to at least try to experience your art is much easier if you know them in real life, even if only as an acquaintance, so a often times the people supporting you online literally are the people supporting you in real life, or at least overlap with them

moving to somewhere with an art scene is still as important as ever for all artists. i can't see the point in just trying to make money, so what if i have who knows how much money and a house? how would my life be any more fulfilled than it is now? investing in a future where my life is as sad and unfulfilled as it is now is hardly an investment at all. having a little crypto or something on the side is one thing but i'd rather off myself than relegate my art to something i just "do". what's really more of a waste, moving to the city and spending my youth at least trying to make it as an artist or spending my youth trying to make money and ending up just as sad i am now?
