>Cleanse with salicylic acid every other day, otherwise just a normal cleansing milk
> Dampen skin, then I apply hyaluronic acid + a serum that decreases redness in face
>Apply facial moisturizer as quickly as possible to seal the moisture
>Apply a generous amount of SPF 50 to reduce UV damage-related aging

>Apply adapalene gel 1mg/g at nighttime to reduce acne + aging

Sometimes I slap some vitamin C serum on my face too if I'm not feeling lazy. And benzoyl peroxide 10% occasionally.

Laser treatment can help with acne scarring. Probably costs some dollars tho.

Also, toner is a thing of the past ages. You used toners before, because the cleansers back in the days fucked up the skins pH so much that you needed the toner to normalize it again. Cleansers don't do that anymore (unless you buy a cheap, bad one from the dollar store). If you going to buy a toner, buy one that serves a function. For example, one with salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, etc. A toner with ingredients that fits your skins needs.
Otherwise, you don't need a toner. Most of the stuff you can find in toners, you can also get in cleansers or serums.

- Use vitamin C TOPICALLY on your skin.
- Exfoliate 2-3 times a week with a chemical cleanser, not a physical one. That means you should use a exfoliating cleanser, not a scrub. The skin on your face is thinner and more sensitive compared to the skin on your body (it's okay to use scrubs on your body).

- Use hyaluronic acid everyday before applying moisturizer. Make sure to dampen your skin before you apply the HA. Even if you don't use HA, make sure to dampen your skin before applying moisturizer anyways. Keeping your skin hydrated plumps it and makes it look less dull and a bit more radiant.

- The most important thing: Sunscreen. For the rest of your life. Most of our aging stems from UV rays. If you're white, you're especially susceptible to premature aging because of the sun.

- Second most important thing: Retinoid. It's the best anti-aging agent out there, right after sunscreen. Apply it a few times a week everyday of your life, before nighttime. Never apply it during the day, because sunlight breaks down the retinoid and makes it weaker and less efficient.

>1.5mm dermaroll with hyaluronic acid applied immediately after finishing a section of my face for max absorption

If you try it just get l-ascorbic acid from The Ordinary because vit C and glycerin are cheap ingredients, there's no reason it should be so expensive.
>moisturizer
Some types can break out certain people so be objective when testing out a new product.

Acne scars your only useful procedure you can do at home is dermarolling with long needles (1.5mm.) Chemical peels are nerfed OTC to prevent people from melting their face so don't waste your time there and exfoliation does two things:
>rubs shit off your face (fingers work)
>breaks apart sebum plugs in the skin (only oily skin benefits)

AM:
Wash face with water only
Actives: Alternate daily between 1) Hylauronic Acid, 2) Vit C + Alpha Arbutin, 3) COSRX Snail Mucin, [4) Have used niacinamide too in the past, and it works nicely]
Moisturiser: The Ordinary Moisturising Factors
SPF: La Roche Posay Shaka Fluid SPF 50 [or more recently Garnier Ambre Solaire Ultra Light Face Fluid because it's cheaper]

During the day:
Top up SPF if I'm outside

PM:
First cleanse: Garnier micellar water
Second cleanse: Dove beauty bar (soap) or more recently Cerave Foaming Cleanser
Actives: Azelaic Acid (unless I'm using an exfoliator / retinol after)
Exfoliator, max 3x a week: Alternate between 1) (BHA) glycolic acid, 2) (AHA) COSRX Blackhead Power Liquid [in the past i've used The Ordinary AHA/BHA like 2x a week, and I really liked it. But prefer separating them now.]
Retinol: 1% max 2x a week (on days when I don't exfoliate)
Moisturiser
Oil: currently using The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil and will mix with Tea Tree Oil (only 3 drops max) if I have acne (rare)
If I have like bad acne (very rare) then I'll also apply sudocrem around the spot (contains zinc oxide and benzyl benzoate)

You save a shitload of money watching a couple of her videos. I went to a dermatologist in high school and all they did was prescribe me BP, then sulfur ointment and each prescription was like $300 and I bought a jumbo tub of sulphur cream for $18. The only reason to go to a dermatologist, besides for a skin disease, is if you want (iso)tret without bothering with online pharmacies.

I get really annoyed when Hollywood faggots get coy when talking about what their dermatologist gives them. "I use an acne bodywash prescribed by my doctor..." Then you just later find out it's just salicylic acid bodywash you can buy at Walmart.

>>15922570
It doesn't really matter, I guess PM is technically better but I do it in the AM because I don't want my face drying out in bed from that + the adapalene. You don't need to double cleanse to get rid of sunscreen, it comes off with water which is why you're supposed to reapply it throughout the day.

You only need the sunscreen if you're getting UV rays. So if you're driving, working in the backyard, next to a window all day then yes, use it. If you're colored you can get tinted ones to match your skin color more and the 15 or 30 SPF leave less of an obvious streak. You don't even lose vitamin D absorption when using it btw, you actually maximize the efficacy by minimizing unnecessary UVA exposure.

I'd suggest using Azelaic in the PM tho cause it's a silicone-ish cream texture, and putting a moisturizer and then SPF would just feel uncomfortable imo. Vitamin C can help too, Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% would be a good start. So it would look like:

PM 1

Tretinoin and Isotretinoin (accutane) are good for treating large amounts of acne. For more regular skin adapalene (differin) would be the better choice as it is milder and less drying. You can get also get it otc in the US unlike the other two.

Konjac sponges are great for the face and fine exfoliation glove (korean & moroccan style) are best for the body. They need to be replaced monthly but you can get them cheap in Daiso or walmart.

I exfoliate twice a week as my skin needs it due to my work.
AM:
-NEOGEN Cleansing water/ KIEHL's herbal cleansing water
-The Ordinary Niacinamide 10 zinc 1
-Natio moisturizer SPF 50

PM:
-Natio rosewater cleanser
-Konjac sponge
-Secret key peeling gel/ enzyme powder exfoliant (as needed)
-Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
-Natio night gel/ COSRX Rice mask (during winter I also use LuLuLun sheet masks)

Weekly:
-lactic acid 2%+ HA or AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
-LANEIGE Sleep mask

Living in Australia is tough, I want to start a retinol serum but I think I'm going to have to wait for winter as the sun is too harsh.

Why not just using face masks as night cream? I just wonder what's the point of wearing active ingredients just to wash them off after 20 minutes or so.. And because it's such a thick layer, most of the compounds won't even make it into your skin anyway.. I get it when it's a clay mask to absorb oil and pull sebum from your pores, but why would I not just save a shit ton of money by applying anti-aging masks as if they were regular face creams?

I suffered terrible terrible disgusting acne previously. It's mostly cleared up now, I still get a couple small blemishes every week. My main concern now is that my skin is always so red, especially after I get out of the shower. And it looks oily/shiny all day. It gets better throughout the day, but still uneven skin tone.

I've been out of the skincare game for awhile. My routine is:

Apply Vaseline on face when in the shower. Rub it mostly off under the water. Pat dry to remove as much as I can. That gets like 95% of the Vaseline off, the rest matte-ified. Then I use a sunscreen moisturizer.

It sounds incredibly autistic but honestly I've used it for the past 2 years and my skin has never looked this good (which isn't saying much, but still).

Does hyaluronic acid reduce redness, or does azelaic acid? Whats the difference between them? Is salicylic acid a must have for good skin nowadays?

Alright skinfags, the patch of skin underneath my eyes (both of them) has always looked a bit retarded. Veins visible, blue-ish discolouration (idk I'm colour blind, might be purple actually) and small lumps on the skin. I get a decent amount of sleep, I eat healthily and don't do anything that's well known to cause bags under eyes - it's not even puffy, just discoloured and veiny. My skin is very pale so I'm sure that doesn't help.

Is there anything I can do about this? I've never had a skin "regime" or paid much attention to my skin. I use a Neutrogena facial cleanser in the shower but I don't focus it on this area - I only really use it to prevent pimples.

wut. vaseline is usually used after a PM routine to 'lock in' any actives you put on, never heard it used in this way.

In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Got my skin is just completely obliterated at this point in my life. It has been fucked for 2 years straight.

My nose is always red as fuck and occasionally blows up with white pustules. The area around my nose is always red and irritated. I get seb derm in my eye brows, and in my mustache. I get acne on my cheekbones, which is riddled with hyperpigmentation to do the pustules.

If i eat anything containing industrial seed oils my entire face gets itchy and every one of these things breaks out at the same time. Same with refined sugar. I suspect my nose is red as fuck because I have to blow it all the time due to constant rhinitis but everything elsr is worsened by diet but not cured by avoiding culprits because I've done weeklong fasts without seeing any improvement.

I have to force myself to not care because if i did i would kill myself.

AHAs will work on the surface of the skin but may make your skin more photo sensitive, BHAs (like salicylic acid) will go deeper into your pores and clear out oil but can be drying. PHAs are like AHAs but sometimes more gentle and don't cause the sun issue
start using a chemical exofliant once a week and see how your skin reacts, if you don't notice any drying or irritation you can up it. it also just depends on the product, if it's a strong concentration that you leave on then at max use it 3 times a week, if it's a cleanser that you wash off with a low concentration then every day use is fine
personally i like stuff with salicylic acid cause it helps with my oily skin, you can get body washes, cleansers, or serums depending on your needs

My skins pretty senstive so im trying not add more stuff to my routine like toners etc. at first my skin started peel alot but after that the pimples that mostly appear on my chin dont appear anymore which made me happy

the Paulas choice does not help at all to me. Maybe in other spots of my skin but not my nose sadly. The black heads still appear which sucks. Other product that could maybe reduce them? (i got big pores)

>The area around my nose is always red and irritated. I get seb derm in my eye brows, and in my mustache
>Also I've tried every antifungal solution, nothing cures the seb derm but they all irritate the fuck out of my skin and cause more acne. Cerave causes my skin to tingle and sometimes even causes a burning sensation

I had the exact same problems. My skin is the best it's ever been now and for the first time in a very long time, it feels healthy and hydrated. The key was quitting all actives and antiungals and basically doing nothing else to my face besides moisturizing. I noticed that my seb derm and flare ups got worse over the years on the areas where I applied the products. Every time a flare up got severe, I visited my dermatologist just for him too repeatedly tell me to apply the antifungals again (he didn't know shit).

After quitting cold-turkey, my skin got a bit better but it was still irritated, red and extremely sensitive. My moisture barrier was basically nuked. After doing a bit of research I stumbled on this product: https://www.biom8.com/product/skin-conditioning-oil/

This product alone improved the redness by about 70% overnight. It also felt extremely hydrating the first time I put it on so I knew right away it was working. Be sure to gently rub it into the affected areas, don't just let it sit on your skin you need to actively rub it in. I used to the oil two times a day for about 2 weeks and saw great improvements.

cont.

I then stumbled on urea and read how it's supposed to be this holy grail ingredient for compromised skin barriers. I got this product:
https://www.dermedic.pl/en/products/79/31/ultra-hydrating-cream-gel.html

This was an absolute game changer. I believe this finally took care of the compromised moisture barrier for good and got rid of the remaining redness. It also smoothed out the texture around my nose. The sides of my nose were severely fucked up and now you can't tell that I ever had anything there, it's insane.

Final step, only wash your face if you must. It kinda goes against your instinct but you're basically washing away the little amount of protective oil on your face you have. I only wash my face if it really feels dirty and then only with tap water. I also only wash my hair and face in the shower once per week and never go above luke-warm. Do everything in your power to not irritate your skin until it finally heals.

And that's basically it, I can even grow a beard again without the skin getting all dry, flaky and irritated.

Nothing wrong with some light foundation. Make sure to buy one that is non-comedogenic (aka won't clog your pores). Just buy from a high quality brand. Not something from the dollar store.

Am I wasting time using retinoids like e.g 2% ones from Ordinary? I seems to be nothing compared to actual tretinoin, but I'm trying to use up my regular retinol before buying that. Bit then again, am I not wasting time like that? Could retinoids somehow achieve similar results to tretinoin, or is it hopeless and should I just switch now?

Sounds like bacteria from shaving. Try using a high quality trimmer instead. Use a proper aftershave.

Have any of you overcame a stye/chalazion that took months to go away?

Still have one for 5 months. Tried daily hot compresses, doxycycline (twice), and daily eye lid scrubs, but nothing helps. Even got it surgically removed but it keeps coming back. I only wear sunglasses but I wash them every week since I got these eye lid problems.

Is it bad to use face wash every day? I don't use soap/water every day on my face, usually every other when I shampoo, but wondered if this was good practise.
