Not to defend this thread but those are called gaiters, they're functional and fit the accuracy of techwear harder than 99.5% of the shit in techwear threads. You would know exactly what they are and what they're used for if you went /out/ a single time in your life. Those ones in the picture are dumb though, they usually go mid-calf. May as well just wear pants at that point.

To look aesthetic when you live somewhere with incliment weather and constant rain. My city is constantly voted worst dressed city in America because its always raining so you'll walk down the street seeing a hundred people in the exact same generic rain shell + jeans outfit. For me its a way to stand out + look aesthetic in those kinds of conditions while remaining dry warm and comfy. If I wore a normal fashion fit it would be soaked, miserable, garments ruined etc.

Another reason I wear techwear is simple: I'm a huge time /out/fag and impulsive. If I'm already wearing a proper outfit shoes etc all I need to do is leave a daypack prepared in the back of my car and I can go on random last second hikes without much planning and still be properly prepared if I get stuck somewhere overnight. Every choice I make when wearing techwear is practical. (instagram zoomers forum retards and taobao buyers do not understand this basic concept of techwear, which is how they made it cringe)

All the gorp shit in this thread is just a slightly less shitty version of how all the normies dress on a bad day. Not really techwear as its typically known, even though it is totally under the umbrella of techwear. Not a good example of what I mean.

Techwear is cringe now because of massive diffusion into normie sphere by over-played brands like nike acg, taobao brands, instagram/forums, and that one faggot who lied about inventing health goth to get in some vice articles. But its really my only option short of dressing like every other gross slob who just moved to Seattle for one full season.

The best trail runners are the kind that look like normal running shoes but with carbon plates in the midsole and thick tread underneath. The big clunker "trail shoe" kind are strictly for weekend warrior casualfag boomers who have no idea what they're doing. Or frail old people who need the ankle support. Inherently useless because they take so much longer to dry. I hear idiots say they wear them to stop rocks from getting in their shoes compared to real trail runners, but that's why ankle gaiters were invented. Waterproof ones are trash tier too, if you're in conditions that necessitate it you should be wearing a boot instead in the first place.
