First sprays of Carnal Flower in probably three months. Absolutely divine, and it’s almost annoying that I’ve wanted a white floral that lasted longer for ages, and this does, but it’s so powerful it’s too much for me to wear. It’s still elegant and beautiful and one of the best from the line I’ve tried, but I wish it was a bit more tame.

If you don't think flowery notes are a good match, then what notes are of interest to you? Look for fragrances with those notes and start there. But be warned, if you're new to this you probably won't know what you like based purely on your mind's idea of that note. There are loads of "badass" fragrances with fruits and flowers in their ingredients. What matters is the vibe they give off when combined with everything else. Get some samples, try them on skin, see how they perform and evolve over a few hours, then assess what you liked and didn't like. Research further based on that.

Creed's prices are a meme, you're probably right though

>> No.15758548

Definitely, not sure how much others on here will agree with me but personally I think Creed is a meme and honestly paying more than £40 for smelly water is a fucking huge meme too no matter what the ingredients or the house or the nose behind it or whatever else. And I say that as someone who has spent way more than that on a number of occasions

To answer your question a bit more properly I think you should wear fragrances that suit who you are and the vibe you want to give off. Age and style appropriate. Like it would probably be weird for you to walk around with heavy leather, tobacco, incense frags or whatever if you're 17 or 18 and just starting uni and will be surrounded by the same age group who will probably still be wearing fuckin Lynx deodorant or something as their daily.

I don't know what your budget is like but personally I don't like to spend a ton so I typically just try to go for a somewhat crowd-pleasing designer or designer-adjacent frag for work/uni.

If you want to give off the rich posh vibe maybe something from Penhaligons, less people will probably be wearing these although they're priced pretty similar to Creed. You can get four free samples from their website (you pay for shipping). People seem to like Lord George, I like Terrible Teddy which is a smoky ambroxan bomb that probably doesn't really suit me, I quite like Juniper Sling too, that's sort of fresh sweet and a tiny bit spicy. People say Sartorial is good but I've never smelled it.

Really it all just depends on what vibe you're going for

>> No.15758646

>>15758548
Wow, thanks for the detailed response. Definitely agree with you on the pricing, why would I spend literally 4 times as much as I would for a reliable drugstore frag like Aramis. Penhalgions seems nice but again, yeah, 270 USD, maybe I'd get a bottle for special occasions, but it's just not viable for daily wear. You're definitely right, it would be weird for me to wear a mature frag like English Leather or Fahrenheit. I might look around for something with grassy/green notes, something like Drakkar Noir but cleaner and grassier.

Nice? Somewhat, though Date is a sickly-sweet chemical mess in my opinion. The problem is that they’re comparable in quality to things like Eros or 1 Million and he’s selling them at near-Roja prices. Black Tie is fucking 397.00 USD and the notes seem completely generic. If Jeremy stayed in his lane and sold his frags at like 100.00, they’d be decent, honestly. At the prices he’s asking, you’d have to be a drooling retard (I include Pajeets and coomers in this category) to buy them unironically.

No, you're not yet. Interviews are only about to take place in December and you wouldn't hear back from here till August 2021 for a conditional offer anyway. Also hate to break to you but 50% students here are awkward Chinese kids smelling of sweat and unwashed clothes, 40% are normal kids like elsewhere that will smell of Axe/Sauvage mixed with the smell of spilled VKs in a club and a vomited kebab on the Market Square/King's Parade on Friday nights. The most of the remaining 10% of poshos will always secretly look down at you no matter what because you're not one of them and the worst you can possibly do is to openly try to impress them. Just embrace your upbringing, that's the best time in your life to learn that integrity is one of the most important things in your life. Otherwise you'll look as comical as Boris' son with his long hair, wearing Carhartt jackets around the town. That being said the people here who has double-barrelled names, belong to Pitt Club and live lifestyle similar to the one from the movie in your pic related wear whatever their mothers bought them for Christmas in Harrods. I've seen some Floris, Pehaligon's and Creeds bottles but they don't give a flying fuck about them. My general advise is to get involved in some respectable Full Blue sport as soon as possible (if you'll make the cut lol) other than rowing - which is, funnily enough, perceived an incel sport on the college here and won't impress anyone but your facebook friends from your hometown (there's no chance for you to compete in the Varsity against Oxford if you didn't row on like Olympics before lol). You'll meet great people there and after getting a Full Blue you'll be swimming in pussy. I had girls dtf literally putting their Instax photos to my college pigeonhole. It's gonna keep you sane in this otherwise strange city.

International transfer applications are already open and I've heard back. The college I'm coming from in the states has loads of Chinese and Korean forex students, they're mostly tryhards that dress like rappers and wear CDG frags. I was in a fraternity but dropped after the first semester. Most people here don't even wear fragrance, just the occasional art hoe or gay wearing niche stuff, the Asians too. I've maybe smelled Axe or some other Drakkar clone on 2-3 normal men. Lots of candy smelling bullshit on the girls. I mostly wear Nuit D'Issey or Issey Miyake Pour Homme, pretty inoffensive and cheap. I figured maybe people would be doing it up more in Europe. Good advice there though, I don't know what VK is and it's good to know Carhartt isn't in fashion. Is Full Blue like pro or club sports? I play tennis and soccer club sports here and I'm decent at both, probably no good at soccer by European standards. I mostly wear polos, knitwear, straight fit pants or above the knee shorts, loafers or bucks. Maybe I should play into the American shtick a little more. Good advice though, thanks for that. What college are you at and what do you study?

I like Lush’s stuff. Yeah, I know, they’re a girly, hippy, fruity brand. Don’t let that put you off. They have very legit perfumers working for them (Sarah McCartney used to), and they make very snice stuff. I like their Karma soap, personally. I bought their Ginger bodywash a while back, I think it’s a seasonal Christmas item. It’s great. Obviously a lot of ginger, but also other spices and other stuff, just smells great.

Interesting how Wafts have done videos on Prin, Bortnikoff and Areej this year and each time they’ve been noticeably disappointed. I feel like their argument of “Were only disappointed because we hold them to higher standards” is fair, but it’s a shame. I guess they still need to keep branching out. I did find it funny when. Dan said one of the Bortkikoff’s made him think “I have to buy a bottle, I have to buy a bottle... of something else”. At least we can’t accuse them of bias.

>International transfer applications are already open and I've heard back.
Ok, that makes sense. Hopefully Corona will calm its ass down till then as otherwise you won't get much of student life here. Basically last two years were lost here because of it. All college life subdued, mayballs cancelled, no face to face teaching, zoom 'pub' crawls etc. It's been a shitshow.
>I figured maybe people would be doing it up more in Europe.
That's the case but don't expect every other person met on street wearing some snice fragrances.
>it's good to know Carhartt isn't in fashion
It's not, it's just ridiculous to see a son of the Prime Minister wearing workwear and have any workingclass pretense. Integrity.
>Is Full Blue like pro or club sports
Full Blue sports are sports that you can compete on the Varsity against Oxford. After winning you get privileges like access to Blues stash including blazers, ties, sports fleeces etc which are hardest flexes. That's the university-wise level where you often have professional athletes competing. In theory we don't do sports scholarships like in the US here but in practice they often come to do some MBA or other bullshit degree just for the sake of playing sports. Other than that you have intercollegiate level where you can represent your college against other Cambridge colleges. It's way less competitive. I played rugby for my college but wouldn't last 10minutes against Flip Van der Merwe and other Blues rugby players
>I play tennis and soccer club sports here
Both are good, you'll meet great people there. I reckon soccer is a bit more competitive than tennis here but try both. Just be sure to join early. You can also try pick something new like cricket or just do lax that's heavily American-dominated if you'll ever miss your compatriots. Overall try as many clubs and societies as possible (not only sports-related). That's what makes this place enjoyable. Don't be one of these nerds focusing purely on your degree

One point more: get also involved in your college life. Depending if you're an undergrad or a postgrad try to run for some position in the JCR/MCR committee. International officer or sports officer or whatever sounds like a good fit. >Any recommendations, I do want to get her into niche a lil bit
I reckon you don’t understand how women work. 99% are not interested in niche or finding an interesting scent matching their personality. They’re interested in status and flexing it (at least in their own minds). She doesn’t like coco mademoiselle, gucci bloom, un jardin sur nil, the one. She likes Chanel, Gucci, Hermes and Dolce&Gabbana and the idea of owning something from these designers. She won’t be happy with a niche fragrance that she and her girlfriends don’t know or she hasn’t seen it on Instagram no matter how good it smells. If you want to get her something that she finds ‘niche’, aka has massive presence as a pseudo niche in womens magazines, buy her Le Labo, Diptyque, Jo Malone, Tom Ford, Dior/Chanel exclusive lines. That’s just how it works. That being said don’t be a fucking simp and buy her whatever you want to smell on her. That’s what I always do and neglect all of my girlfriends preferences. You will compliment her a few times and she’s gonna love it too, don’t worry. I just tell them that it’s expensive and if they haven’t heard about it jokes on them or even better take a girl to a luxurious department store and buy what I want her to wear there. They love the experience more than the fragrance anyways and you can test a few new things yourself.

sometimes I wonder if the companies make the fragrances so weak because of the focus groups giving "too strong" feedback. you can see these reactions when youtubers ask girls.

"it's too strong" "this is not so strong I like it". we are getting watered down crap probably because of this line of thinking.

Do as many sprays as you think the fragrance in question and the situation needs, weather etc. Know your fragrance, go heavier on watery scents and easier on denser scents, it's not rocket science.

Just spray it on your two pulse points. Or once on the front of your neck and maybe once behind so you leave a trail.

Walking through the vapor cloud is wasteful. If you don't want to wear even one full spritz's worth of fragrance, buy a tiny atomizer and you can do your rationing without losing a drop.

It’s obviously the ridiculous pricing consequence (just put these $300 in perspective and ask someone if they think that’s a lot of money or not) and I’m happy that clone houses exist to take a bit of the market from themed but I couldn’t wear a clone myself. This just feels so cheap and the scent is never the same. The worst kind of clones are those that try to be as close as possible desu, I wouldn’t feel as bad wearing some ‘inspired’ scents like Tres Nuit.

No worries, I’m rereading this post and maybe a should add that I don’t hate women or anything like that. We’re just different, men are into things women are into people. Both of these basic character traits can go wrong in this hobby. I prefer every day and night a Stacy who buys Hermes fragrances just because she can’t afford their handbags over some dirty fragrance nerd who collected 100 bottles of basically the same type of scent with negligible differences for some autistic reasons. Men can also be cringe. I have forgotten one more brand of women’s ‘niche’ Holy Trinity: Byredo. Byredo, Le Labo, Diptyque that’s what’d make a good gift for a girl.

What are the honest to god odds that Creed and other houses are actually using real ambergris?
