J Crew is having a sale on their Ludlow loafers for about ~$150. Made in China but supposedly by the same factory that cranks out Grant Stone, quality is supposedly pretty good.

Jay Butler has lower profile, lower vamp loafers on sale as well. Blake construction but supposed to be very comfy.

I know neither of these are European but these are the best suggestions I have off the top of my head.

I mean, it’s true that it’s a lot harder to walk into a brick and mortar store and find an OCBD without a comically small collar or skinny fit, and that middle- shelf shoe manufacturers are getting rid of their chunky American lasts in favor of slim and long Italian designs. Also, the good stuff that Brooks Brothers and J Press does sell is increasingly lost in a sea of skinny stretch garbage.

However, there are other elements of /tip/ that are becoming increasingly popular. I see tweed trousers and jackets on department store racks a lot more than I used to. Harrington jackets and camel coats are becoming easier to find. Trendy places like Uniqlo and H&M are selling more relaxed fit, mid rise trousers than they used to, and these styles will hopefully begin to spill over into more traditional retailers. Work shirts with large open collars (not exactly /tip/ but still an interesting revival of mid century fashion) are becoming more popular. Bean boots and moccasins remain as ubiquitous as ever.

If there ever is a full-on revival of /tip/, I think it’s more likely to grow out of the American midcentury workwear niche than the /sprezz/ niche (though I think there is a lot more overlap between /sprezz/, /tip/, milsurp, and workwear than people here like to admit. a lot of people in the actual menswear world move pretty freely between these styles)

As long as the cut and quality of the cloth are to your liking, it doesn’t really matter from which brand you buy. If your “modern style slim fit stuff” refers to trousers fit like leggings and suits that fit like henleys, all you have to do is run when you see “skinny” advertised. Always check for the measurements of clothes online and compare them with your measurements (and perhaps even with your clothes that fit the way you like to roughly estimate how something might fit).

However, ancient norms such as “no brown in town” (brown being “barred” as it isn’t a “city” colour like the preferred black) and whatever you’re advocating don’t concern the majority of people nowadays. You can not impose your preferences on others. People have the right to choice.

I'd say its bait but people really think this. 'Tailored' shirts don't even look good on fit people, let alone the average /tip/ dweller. Go for a roomy fit or bust. And tight trousers look terrible on everybody. If its hugging your leg you either look twinky and dumb or fat and awful. Most dads wear slim shit clothes because that's whats in shops, and they look bad.

Why people who frequent /tip/ threads consider leather jackets of any colour remotely congruent with the style is beyond me. I have not seen a single article on an ivy/prep-related website endorse leather jackets.

To my knowledge the only preppy line to have included leather jackets in promotional material was Ralph Lauren Rugby -- and I think it did so precisely because it is subversive.

So stop being a retard by recommending stuff that isn't /tip/.
