I meant to reply to you in the other thread. I personally moved to Parfumo. From what I gather:
Fragrantica
>The best database of fragrances
>Mostly poor quality reviews and in particular no negative reviews as they always deleted if they get downvoted to many times by fanboys of a scent.
>Shit userbase mostly, it's hard to find knowledgeable people among countless absolutely useless reviews. No easy means of following someone's reviews but googling 'fragrance name + username + fragrantica.com'
>Active but useless forums full of boomer fragrance moms spamming emoticons.
>The layout was nice, I hate the current one.
>However, the 'popularity over time' chart is really nice.
>The notes were often wrongly added but most of the time they were ok and the way they were sorted from the most prominent to the least was very useful to pick up what you actually smell in a fragrance. Now it's way less readable.
>Somewhat good categorization in different fragrance families, it helped me a lot when I was redoing the old chart >>15726931
Basenotes
>Shit database because as far as I understand every addition must be verified by some admin.
>Best reviews but a lot of them are few pages long essays.
>Very knowledgeable people
>The forums here are arguably the best place on the internet for having actual in-depth discussions about fragrances.

>> No.15727029

>>15727020
Basenotes cont'd
>You can make your own list and browse fragrances but it's not very user-friendly and what's really the point if some of your fragrances are not in the database anyway?
Parfumo
>The second best database, I already had problems with finding some more obscure fragrances there. But be aware that I'm a hardcore nichefag.
>Good reviews but sometimes they are a bit pretentious.
>Good userbase with many knowledgeable people who are easy to identify. You can also follow other users.
>Forums seem somewhat active but I don't know how good they are.
>The chart section on each fragrance contains a lot of interesting information. Often notes+type pie chart tells me a lot about a fragrance.
>They also have the Men/Women/Old/Young pie chart that everyone can vote for, so you can tell how feminine or masculine a fragrance is. Unlike on fragrantica where you could sort votes by sex but it was absolutely useless for this purpose.
>There is a function for voting the most prominent notes on Parfumo but because of the sheer number of users I still find the fragrantica one way more accurate. On the other hand I'm at the stage where I know what most of ingredients smell like, so it's quite fun to come back to trying to find out the notes myself.
>The Souk thing seems interesting but it seems that virtually all sellers/decanters are based in Germany, so I rather prefer to rely on my local fragrance facebook groups.
>Custom shelves, quite nice way of categorizing fragrances. As a default you have 'decants, miniatures' shelves on top of the 'have' shelf so it's particularly useful for someone like me who typically has way more samples&decants than full bottles at any time.
Overall I migrated from fragrantica to Parfumo and I'm not looking back. It will take me some time to rate all of the fragrances I rated on fragrantica etc but I'm not in rush.

Btw, I've had Mendittorosa Le Mat from pic related on my skin for 8h+ already and can share some thoughts as I believe it's worth bringing to your attention for other reasons than one of the weirdest bottles I've seen. It's a brilliant galbanum+rose presented in an overall oriental-spicy way. If you are a fan of galbanum then I believe sampling it is a no-brainer. Very out of the box (perfectly masculine) rose with a lot of seductive power.

tobacco rose- theyre lying about not smelling like tobacco, its the smell of you gently rolling the end of a fresh cigarette between your fingers to check for freshness. Opening was iffy, 4x sniffs later I really like it, the tobacco blast is gone. t. ex smoker. very nice now

Salome- urinal cake, straight up. do not like. 5x sniffs later its becoming something else, actually more pleasant and enjoyable. scent memory of an old church bathroom. hard opening for me to like, but its getting better

anibus- blah, i dont even know what this is, no love nor hate, neutral scent

dark knight- hairspray and chocolates. almost pleasant, my nose is intrigued. kind of nice, getting better

under my skin- no. no, no, no, no, no. im picking up more now, but its a tough one. theres something underneath i like however

e-water: i like this one

dark knight- books or cardboard. i dont even know, i think im getting vetiver, i get the shoe polish bit. my nose is probably blown out at this point. meh

bengale rouge- i like this

sticky fingers- very nice baked goods with urinal cake in it. its neat enough.

lovers tale- all of hers are starting to smell similar now. did not like at first, its ok now

these are my first impressions. As such, my opinions will probably change. im a picky cunt apparently.

There is no tobacco in this fragrance, so you're off here. There is however something in it that makes it have an ashy thing going in the background.. anyway you sampled a lot (nice samples btw), personally my nose gets fucked quickly and I have found I appreciate samples the most one day at a time where i wear one new sample each day.

The kind of things he says are the things you would normally say to close friends, and talk about with them in depth. Over-sharing is a sign of loneliness I think, people don't do it if they have a real, reliable social network in their life. It can't be cathartic to tell the world about your jerking off habits, especially when his comment section will just fanboy over him no matter what. wow this is smooth, can smell lemon and vetiver but it's very very cohesive unlike TDH (my favourite) which doesn't smell like a blend of stuff, TDH smells like bitter oranges, straight up whereas this smells and feels more toned down but luxurious, like silk v cotton
>5 mins later
hmmm smells like cumin
musky and not too pleasing
where did the fruit go?
>10 mins later
ah ok it's melded with my skin now
back to being very silky in texture
now smells kinda vanilla esque with maybe a hint of orange
reminds me of iced coffee for some reason

all in all, I can see why people would say this is an upgrade to TDH. If you're in the mood for something smoother, luxurious and silky as opposed to the vibrance of TDH that can be hit or miss I'd say try this if you decide you want a more mature higher end scent with a similar attitude
this is TDH but grown up
personally I prefer TDH still because of it's aggressiveness but I'll wear this tonight and see if my gf likes it

The one on anon’s pic is one of his weirdest, more avant-garde fragrances, it goes from fucking habanero and chili peppers and fire, to soft mint and sandalwood. Personally wouldn’t wear it but seems based to me. His best is Orquidea Negra like other anon mentioned.

I love it, of course, it's one of the best "manly yet elegant" frags I've tried, the rum+patchouli really does it for me. I've sampled tons of other patchoulis but none come close to it. Perfume is the correct term, but is often associated with female scents, at least here in the UK. "Cologne" seems to be a generic term in America, and in the UK it's called "aftershave", which is worse because that's the one time you should apply it.

Perfume, scent, and fragrance are generally the acceptable terms. If you call it "juice" Pierre Bourdon will fuck you up.

Yeah I'm in Burgerland cologne refers to men's fragrance and perfume women's. That's what I thought it was. So cologne is a specific type of perfume, with perfume or better yet fragrance being the more appropriate general term. Got it.

You’re a little off there, chief. Perfume is the 100% correct term for the smelly water in the bottle. Fragrance after all is a broad term that can refer to the smell of food, drink, anything at all. But in the context of these threads we know what it means. People that create the stuff are called perfumers (or master perfumers in some cases). They create perfume.

There are different “strengths” or “concentrations” of perfume:

Eau de cologne
Eau de toilette
Eau de Parfum
Parfum
Extrait de Parfum

A lot of what’s in the bottle is chemicals like ethanol, but to that certain amounts of perfume oil are added. Eau de Cologne is the lowest amount of oil to alcohol. It’s quite a small percentage. The further down that list you go the more oil is in the bottle.

To refer to something as a Cologne might actually be correct in some cases. Colonia by Acqua di Parma is a classic example of an Eau de Cologne.

If you mean the Acqua di Gio Profumo (the one in the picture) it’s a really great designer scent I think. It lasts a long time, has a nice clean smell and works well in lots of situations.

If you mean the original Acqua di Gio it’s a little dated and a little generic these days, but it’s a classic for a reason and it’s still a nice smell, just nothing remarkable.

I've been thinking about a fragrance for summer too desu, I'd like to narrow things down to four scents - hot/cold/day/night.

I think I'm pretty set on my cold night perfume being Penhaligons Terrible Teddy (I've posted my bottle of it here a few times), cold days I'm not too worried about right now as I'm happy just flinging whatever on, I have a bottle of Burberry London and a bunch of designer samples to get through so fuck it those will do.

I want to try and find a nice fresh/sweet/clean thing for warm days, is there anything that's subtle but doesn't have abysmal performance? I have an old splash bottle of 4711 that I was going to just decant into a little atomiser and carry it around but really it only lasts ten minutes, ideally I'd like something in the same vein but a bit more exciting and masculine, less old woman. I have a sample of Juniper Sling by Penhaligons too that I kinda like but I wonder if it's a little too middle-aged man, also I think that's better for nights, and it doesn't seem to perform well either.

I have a sample of Neroli Portofino on the way, I've smelled that before but it was ages ago and I didn't take time with it (it was in duty free lol) plus a couple other things. I was the guy asking about Live Jazz in the last thread and one of you suggested some Amouage stuff so I went ahead and ordered some samples.

Any thoughts?

In the shower, I use a water-activated gel cleanser.
Then a honey-almond bodyscrub.
And on the face, an exfoliating gel-scrub.
Then I apply an herb mint facial masque,
which I leave on for ten minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine.
I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol,
because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older.
Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
There is an idea of a Jeremy Fragrance.
Some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me.
Only an entity-- something illusory.
And though I can hide my cold gaze...
and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours...
and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable,
I simply am not there.

Ah, yeah, I basically go with Interlude daily now. Interesting thing to me is that in autumn and spring it smells way more balsamic and green than in the winter. It works great in high heat as well. The incense is way more dominant then and the fragrance unexpectedly more subdued.

Thanks, I mean, one can make living out of trading and I know people doing it. But when someone is so charmed by one of the worst places on internet to get financial tips from like /biz/ to the extent where he comes to threads on other boards and recommends people here to go post there to retire early, then I think he might not have what it takes to make it. Trading/investing with consistent results is really harder than most people think. I'm 100% positive it's just easier to land a 6-figure job than to get rich from trading. I wish him good luck though and hopefully he will make it.

I have an old splash bottle of 4711 that I was going to just decant into a little atomiser and carry it around but really it only lasts ten minutes, ideally I'd like something in the same vein but a bit more exciting and masculine, less old woman.
Try Eau de Guerlain. That's a classic cologne that actually lasts. Turin called it the best citrus fragrance on earth.
>I have a sample of Neroli Portofino on the way, I've smelled that before but it was ages ago and I didn't take time with it (it was in duty free lol) plus a couple other things.
If you end up liking this kind of white flowery summer scents then be sure to test Ferrari Bright Neroli. It's a cheap gem very similar to Neroli Portofino but lasts longer and costs 10x less than Tom Ford.
>I was the guy asking about Live Jazz in the last thread and one of you suggested some Amouage stuff so I went ahead and ordered some samples.

aight lads, give me an outlandish recommendation or something, I want to find that fragrance, you know what I'm talking about. I'm yet to smell a lot of them, probably the one I look for is the sitting already on the Sephora's shelves and I ignore it or its a hidden niche.

I enjoy Sauvage(not crazy, I use it more because it works with the ladies), ADG Profumo, Fahrenheit, Ombre Leather, LNDL, The One, Armani Eau de Nuit, Givenchy Gentleman Boisee and quite a few others. I do dislike Bleu de Chanel, it smells like rotten grapefruit and blue ballpoint ink.

Overall, probably ADG Profomo is the most comforting smell for me, as cliche as it may sound. I was blown away when I've smelled The One for the first time also. I like Fahrenheit too, too bad it's labeled old man smell.

I did smelled quite of a few of the mall fragrances already. Though I learned you should not judge a fragrance by the paper strip smell, so I can't say how all of them behave on skin.

Another fragrance enjoy a lot is Platinum Egoiste. Man, such a clean but not bland smell. Sorry for the rant I'm not a local, but i've noticed this thread is not usual 4 chan bullshit.

Another frag I'm curios about is L'Occitane. The basic one. That bottle just speaks to me, I must try it.

Did anybody ever try this flanker?

I've actually never smelled the original Cool Water and I've been interested to see what that's like, but a lot of reviews of this say that it's nothing like the original and should've been released as a standalone product rather than a flanker. I was given a sample when it was released and I liked it at the time so I kept the little sample bottle, and I rediscovered it this year and bought a bottle, having completely forgotten what it smelled like.

I don't like it all that much. There's something nice in there, but I find it too sleazy. It has an extremely loud, fruity-bubblegum opening, there's something a little spicy in there too, and once it dries down a bit there's mint and a sort of marzipan note in there. I'm still trying to figure out the aquatic note, it's there but I'm having a hard time pinning it down. It's maybe a tiny bit boozy. These are all things that I love in theory, but something seems off. It's all very synthetic, and you can totally tell it's cheap. I imagine a scruffy, dishevelled 30-something in a cheap suit, who went on a crazy night out in the bad part of the city and woke up the next day on a bench down by the river. Now he's walking home with a terrible hangover. He got into a fight he doesn't remember, his shirt all torn up and his lip is busted. The yuppies are on their way to work and they're all staring at him as he walks past, he's a little ashamed but doesn't really give a fuck because he's still pretty drunk. Know what I mean?

Actually I like it a little bit more now that I did when I started writing this post but it's still not my favourite

incredible description, l'air du dessert marocain, possibly one of the best fragrance names. I'm eager to smell this thing. Funny thing we actually have a fucking classy niche perfumery in the new opened mall in the heart of transilvania. yep, romanian here, sorry. did not entered it last time I went because I wore adidas campus, bomber jacket and baseball hat. I will next time, gonna wear a nice trench coat or something, boots and act arrogant. would probably wear 8 spray of montblanc explorer and act like it's the aventus they have on the shelf, they wouldn't know i'm sure. they seem to have frederic malle and all that, crazy stuff. Just watched that docu posted earlier here fron the French TV, good stuff. Curious how Musc Ravageur smells, not expecting wearability, I unerstand it's more of a personal expression from the perfumer, Raucel.

Something along these lines? If so you must a bit more effort, having sex is nothing out of extraordinary for grown ups. Idk what's the age average here but I think a typical /frag/ poster is not quite the stereotypical /fa/ insecure teenager or a shut in.

It's obviously nice to get compliments but I reckon most of posters here don't really have goals aligned with those of coomers.

Taste is personal, if that's the type of fragrance you are looking for then try a few and decide yourself what is the best for you.

Guys, stop giving the sperg (you)s. That’s what he wants. We know being a thirsty incel is pathetic, it doesn’t need to be said. It’s axiomatic. Don’t let him derail /frag/ again. We were doing so well!

>All 10 ml, bar Colonia Essenza and Pegasus 10 ml
Try to order smaller samples: 1-2ml is often enough to weed out scents you don't like and you can always order later a bigger decants for testing the scent thoroughly. 10ml is a lot (but still better than blindbuying).

Try to avoid Amazon if you can. Search for your national facebook fragrance groups. That's where the best deals are and after a while you'll get a pretty clear picture who's a legit seller. It's especially easy for niche ones, these boomers there are quick to call out fakes and scammers.

If I had to pick from these two, I'd take Prada. That being said I haven't liked neither of these fragrannces.

I’m a 37 year old boomer. I doubt there are too many teenagers here. Teenagers can’t afford frags and they all just wear Axe or Old Snice anyway. The only teenagers here are the shitposters.

yep, i don't really need 10 ml, but I already order 10 mls for scents that I think I will like, some of them already smelled. See how fast I finish the 10 ml and if I really need a bottle. Would buy 5 ml but where I buy from it's 10 ml for the cheapies and 2 ml or 10 ml for stuff like Acqua di Parma, Nasomatto, PDM. Man, I've ranned trough 10 ml of ADG Profumo like crazy, possibly less than 2 months. I buy super cheaps like Chrome on 10 ml too, not sure if I would like a big bottle, great smell but I have to try the Chrome Aqua. All these cheapies add up, I really look to have about 7-10 fragrances in full bottles, not more.

Dumb tomboi fembot here about to drop the knowledge bomb of the century. I live nearly exclusively on a stockpile of MMM Tea Escape EDT (so you know I have a morsel of taste). I personally think the best way a man can smell is Valentino Uomo, Dior Homme (before they changed it), or Byredo Super Cedar. Would love to smell that fancy deer perfume tho.
