Could you throw at me some ideas on floor plan?

Door placement is kinda limiting, so I have a problem to put in my place desk (jysk - gentofte) with PC and printer, sofa (merkurymarket), tv on bookshelves (ikea - billy) and glass coffee table (unknown).

Pic related is current situation, dimensions in cm, american units for room size are about 135x212in.

PC placement is not ideal, because monitor is facing window - I am thinking to move it alongside the window and push sofa closer to the bedroom door.

Its not really possible to simulate sunlight into your house. For one the sun (the light source) is outside of your house, so unless you plan on rigging a 100,000 watt softsun light (pic rel used on movie sets) outside of your house you are never going to get the same effect from putting lights inside your house. When the sun is out its shining into your house and bouncing off pretty much every surface in there. Plus the sun is a singular bright as fuck source of light and to truly simulate this you would also need a singular bright as fuck source of light, like the 100k light for example. Not to mention the color temperature and position of the light source (the sun) changes throughout the course of a day.

If you just want to simulate the color of light the sun produces than here. At noon on a clear day the sun is roughly 5500K. 5500K is awfully white and not a color I would consider very cozy though.

t. Works in entertainment lighting

>> No.15726712

>>15726698
true, but I think something like the marquee region on my picture is acceptable. Of course, it won't be the same effect because you have the sun going through the marquee, plus the bouncing light from the ground and other surfaces. But I feel like a lot strong, widespred LEDs of different colors behind frosted glass or another diffuse transluscent surface could get a pretty good effect. If you rig the lighting appropriately you could manually change the color temperature of the light, or maybe even rig it to a controller. If I were to do this it wouldn't really be for the sake of exactly simulating the sun, just providing similar outdoor-strength light

>>15726704
yeah, warmer temperatures are better, not just because coziness but because blue light is somewhat damaging, while red light is the reverse and even undoes the damage of bluer light, or even helps heal wounds and all kinds of shit if you have it strong enough

Well they're expensive as fuck because they're for professional use and idk how much money you are playing with but led panel lighting fixtures used for tv and film will give you the highest degree of control, accuracy and light output and you can easily chain them all together to a single controller which wont exactly be cheap either.

Honestly not a whole lot you can do it.
Lighting is typically done in layers so you already have a the main source. You might want to get a different diffuser that envelops the bulb if you want softer light.
You might want to get some accent lamps or nightlights to fill out the darker areas.

>needs sound treatment
sound treatment is for people who aren't going to have it mixed properly in a studio. sound treatment, usually consisting of some foam shit randomly but "expertly" placed on the wall doesn't work like most people think it does and is more likely to make little to no actual real difference.
make you tunes and get them mixed, by yourself or a mix engineer, in a "proper" studio. some rokit 5's and a cracked copy of Ozone for Mastering is a fucking joke.
that pic was where Four Tet made an album, mixed by professionals. some foam would have made no difference which is why he never bothered with it.
you need thousands of pounds spent to turn a room into a treated room and can't have shit laying about if you are serious about it. what a joke mate.

As for Art books, I'd rather spend my money on other things, I had a great collection of artist books, who cares, I looked at them enough, I like going to book shops and looking still but, I don't need the reference or need to own them. They're overrated. When I see a huge record collection, I think the same thing. There's no need for it.

I see where you're coming from with books. In this day and age it really is impractical to own books when you could get most anything digitally but for some, books have a value that is not measurable by cost or the space they take up. The act of holding a book and flipping the pages and the slow wear you get on a well-loved book is priceless. That makes owning books worth it for some people. You could also argue the aesthetic value of a wall of books. Full bookshelves can really tie a room together and bring a lived-in sense to a space that keeps it from becoming sterile.

The same logic applies to records, perhaps more so than books because music fans will listen to their record collection way more frequently than a reader will reread their books. The time investment is so different.

I actually don't have any records right now but when I did have a collection, yeah, that is probably how many I had. Does it matter though? It takes maybe an hour at most to listen to a record where it can take days to read a book. Even if you only listen to a fraction of the records in your collection they're still probably seeing more use than a wall of books.

I guess that art is toeing the line between ironic and serious so I im going into it knowing its a bit gaudy. The "black boxes" are going to be a plain contrast to the weird art and the flooring pic related (mismatching furniture scares me) Not going to add so much red tho and maybe more of a brownish tone. Shroedinger's advice. in my defense, i rageposted a bunch of bullshit in this thread. generally, having few things you like is always better than having a wall of stuff. on the same token, hyperminimalism is soul destroying. have some plants, a desk or table, a place to sit, a small art collection, and a library with less than 20 or so feet of books. or whatever, have a wall of funko pops and framed movie posters, just realize that it's not aesthetic. whatever makes you happy

An aside, these small living areas always seem so appealing to me, when I see a big house I always think who would want to live in that? I guess if you have a lot of kids it makes sense, but even if I had money I would prefer a simple room like the guitar picture.

Also yes, this is close to how I'd lay it out.
Instead of the shelving on either side of the tv though, I'd put framed art or posters in their place and line that blank wall with the shelves you have plus more to fill the wall and have a little space on either side for plants. A taller plant on the floor next to your desk would look nice too.
