I mean it's nothing special, you just smell good without looking like you're trying to hard. That's it.

Or in overly verbose review words: I imagine a laid back guy during a summer night, who is at a beach bar with his pals and half heartedly flirts with the waitress when she comes to the table, but just wants to have a good time.

If it was over ~110 bucks? Hard pass.

Are you asking us or are you asking yourself?

I went through a phase of buying a ton of samples and even blind bought a few designer frags (bad idea don't do it) a while back, and I kinda did it just because I like smelling stuff. I think it's interesting. What did I gain from it though? Not much, I eventually found a scent that I have settled on as my go-to (coincidentally the most expensive one I've ever bought) but sometimes I still feel like buying more frags cause I like the exploration and discovery of it.

I'm rambling but really what I want to say is don't waste your money, if you don't have any real reason to buy samples and you like Cool Water then yeah just stick with that one and spend your money on a more worthwhile pursuit than smelly water

I think it's mostly because of corona - many people who were interested in fragrances casually don't wear any scents at all these days, so mostly people who are really interested in perfume stayed here. But I also think that we are leveling up. People who were new to these threads back then have already put their noses on many snice niche scents. Even tripfags leveled up. Given the recent long threads about Bianchi and other interesting discussions many people took part in, I really think that we got a new generation of oldfags in the making.

I'm really interested in what you guys have to say and what you'd like to see- far more than the retards at fragrantica or reddit. I'm open to anything, as well- not just notes suited towards cold fragrances. Hopefully next year I can put something together that you all can enjoy with scents that are hard to find from other large houses.

This was one of my first fragrances and it's a pretty great place to start, particularly if you're in your late teens/early 20s, in my humble desu. It's strong enough to get you noticed and works in most occasions, and it can be found for cheap online. Go to Macys/Sephora/whatever to try it out and if you like it buy it on fragrancenet or fragrancex. You can find it cheaper elsewhere, but if you're not used to buying online those are the two I recommend most given that they are decent price wise and they don't sell fakes (and if on the off chance you do get a fake, they're good about returns and exchanges). I buy all my niche frags from them and have never been fucked over

My manager at my old office job used to wear this every day and it was fucking ridiculous, why anybody would wear this in an enclosed heated space with a ton of other people I have no idea

This got me thinking about that job so I'm gonna do a little blog post here forgive me

I started it in September last year and only stayed until February. It turned out a bunch of the management guys who seemed to be between 27 - 40something years old were really into fashion and shit, they used to hang out at the Ops Manager's desk (who I sat directly beside) and talk shit about people in the office, it was pretty funny. I learned that one of the managers had a Jerememe style Youtube channel where he reviewed frags and the other managers made fun of him for it behind his back, apparently he was doing that thing where he would go up to girls in the street and ask them to compare perfumes. I never checked out his channel and I don't remember the guys name now. They talked a lot about Aventus and I also smelled a few guys wearing it in the office which always made me laugh (I would always wear ADG so maybe I should be careful about casting stones here) but often guys would wear totally inappropriate shit for the office like my manager. Sometimes I wanted to talk to these guys about frags cause it seemed like they were having fun but the office was very cliquey and I didn't want to try to insert myself into that little circle cause I wasn't management and they all talked shit about each other anyway. The Ops Manager was this super bitchy woman in her 50s who seemed to know about perfumes but didn't get roped into discussions with the guys, she only sometimes talked about very expensive niche perfumes. She was horrible but funny to listen to, sitting next to her I heard every bit of office gossip cause she would shit talk literally everybody. I hated that job but honestly I kinda miss it

It’s here! The sample is Oceania.

Oceania pretty snice. Kind of smells like eating an orange creamsicle at the beach. Has that Typical Roja DNA and quality. Not sure I’d buy a whole bottle yet, but I like it.

Burlington... wow. There’s a lot going on here! There’s a lot of citrus, notes say grapefruit, mandarin, and bitter orange. To me, it smells like blood oranges, but I definitely do get hints of mandarin too. There’s also mint in the opening, which gives it a very green, vegetal vibe. Amazing opening, and the drydown gets even better. Tons of spices and resins, rum, oakmoss, tobacco, ambergris... it’s a bit sweet, a bit spicy, very fresh, citrusy, warm and rich. Like I said, really a lot going on. Easily one of Roja’s best releases.

Guys rate my minimalist collection? I'm not into fragrances like you guys, I've just transitioned to using all fragrance free cosmetics products and want to ensure I smell nice and am memorable when I have to be around people.

Fall/winter: Frederic Malle Musc Ravaguer
Spring/ summer: Creed Aventus
Date night: PdM Layton

I'm not sure if Layton is considered a date night fragrance and I considered dropping it entirely and just using Aventus for warm date nights and Musc Ravaguer for cold date nights, but im concerned Aventus isn't deep enough to be used as a date night frag and I considered Musc Ravaguer isn't crowd pleasing enough. I have a hard time getting dates as is, dont wanna scare away a girl because of how I smell.

Ive tired samples of Aventus and Musc Ravaguer and already own a bottle of each. I haven't sampled Layton, but I looked at the notes and it sounds like what I want. Honestly I can't spend much more time sampling so many fragrances. I've sampled about 20 different stuff and am tired and overwhelmed. I just want something crowd pleasing but seductive so I dont scare a girl away on a first date but I want something a bit more unique which is why I'm not considering the more popular La Nuit or The One

Thoughts?

When I were younger, we would use a hookah to smoke hashish.
Music Festival reminds me of this taste, plus incense.

Disgusting.

Layton is basically fancy Eros. It’s not terrible, but it’s nothing special and not worth the money. I personally think Musc Ravageur is a perfect date night scent. One of the sexiest niche scents ever created, in my opinion. It just smells like sex. Just don’t overspray it, you’ll choke people out.

Your choices are tourist-core, and your mission is pathetic; wanting to fit in badly but you'd like to pretend that you have a personality at the same time. I think you should be a bit more honest with yourself and just get a mall fragrance like eros or whatever. Also, stop the wack misspelling of ravageur, it makes you look even more touristy. Your post made me a bit sad, anon.

This post was written wearing coup de foudre, its great broskis. The 3 bortnikoff I've sampled today (vesna/amber/coup de foudre) have been some of the better citrus/orange I've ever smelled.

I tried Nicolai Amber Oud sample I got with my order and lads, it's brilliant. She did a very out of the box thing: took a classic gentlemany fougere with dominant lavender (very much in her Patchouli Intense style but not as much geranium-forward) and married it with an oriental ambery-(slightly)oudy base. It works really well and I thin all fans of APH, PUH, Rive Gauche and all other aromatic fougeres should check it out. The way she brought up the dirty aspects of lavender with oud and labdanum reminds me a lot of how it is done in Caron Pour Un Homme where it's rather accented with musk. I really think that people like Wafts would go nuts over it and I'm only 30 minutes in.

I think that that's the power of Black Afgano - it reminds you of hash but it's so abstractly and smoothly blended that you wouldn't figure this out if not told in advance. Try Ambre Russe by Parfum d'Empire. This is the one I'm not sure how I would feel about wearing in public. It smells of vodka and champagne. I would be afraid of smelling like on a day after heavy drinking with Eastern European colleagues of mine. I am curious though what people who don't know that it has these two notes would think of it smelling it blindly.
