Ok so I just got obsessed with modern looking quartz watches like the Edifice in link https://youtu.be/Z8fEFCPvl64?t=432 , and I think that is actually the design that fits me best.

Help.

t-thanks for the massive exposure, TGV, now I'm sure they'll all be sold out by the time I could have reasonably afforded one.
Still glad I'm onto CyS now, some of their designs are neat and sending their watches in boxes that double as cigar boxes is great.

There should be plenty of not overly polished Cartiers, JLCs and even Breitlings and Rolexes in that price bracket of you're willing to buy used. Those may not be 14k of course. What style are you looking for? Vintage looking three hander with metal bracelet?
You can also do what I did which is buy a cheap fake gold watch (pic related) and save up for the real thing in the meantime instead of settling for a mildly expensive mistake.

Im like 90% sure i could have been the greatest watch designer of all time. Make genta look like a little bitch. I mean honestly how do some of the fucking designs male it through multiple stages of approval.

Yeah i understand them wanting to keep price down but they really should have put a 9000 series movement in it. I'm guessing they stuck with the 8000 so they would not have to adjust the case/movement holder. The price difference between the two movements can't be more than $10 or $15.

Are there any currently produced sport quartz watches that are good quality? I found having more than 1 mechanical watch is annoying cause I don't really enjoy setting the time. Dan Henry was kinda an impulse buy and while it's good looking and not having to set the time is so convinient, I'd say the finishing and general quality is only on par for it's price. I wish Omega would make a 38mm aqua terra with the same updated specs as now except with a quartz movement.
>Grand Seiko incoming
I like sport watches like the aqua terra or monta, nautilus etc. Not looking for a dressy watch. Three hands and a date, but no bezels or gmt hand etc, but one that's still clearly an sports watch.

If 100m actually meant 100m then everyone would be fine with 5m rated watches, the problem is that unless the watch actually meets some iso standard there is no way of knowing how waterproof a 100m watch actually is.
Hilariously watch manufacturers have managed to "educate" consumers into believing that it's acceptable to sell a watch with 100m written on the dial that will flood if you swim in a pool with it on. This has nothing to to with static pressure vs motion or any of that bullshit, watch companies just lie and put whatever the fuck waterproof rating they want on the dial.

This one says you can't wear your 30m water resistant watch in the shower.
The problem is the charts are accurate, not because of some static vs dynamic pressure bullshit that midwits like to trot out to explain it, but because manufactures just lie and put whatever they want on the dial.
The only way to know you are actually buying a waterproof watch is to buy an iso rated diving watch. Or do research on the brand you are buying and make sure that they actually think that 100m means 100m, most don't.

They look great until you remember that square watches look massive on the wrist and the people making them never give you their diagonal measurement, which is the only one that matters in this case.
The designs are interesting but when you start looking at it critically, it's possibly one of the least appealing brand out there.
A lot of their watches while sturdy looking barely have any water resistance, they use a bunch of integrated bracelets and straps, and their pricing is a complete joke, starting at 2000€ for some quartz models.
Who the fuck would pay 3000 bucks for an automatic with just a date complication and 100m WR?
I really can't get over the way they so clearly try to play off the whole "military instrument" look while not even being that shock resistant let alone water resistant.
Great general concept, good design on the surface, complete joke when it comes to specs, 100% larp all things considered.

Yes that's exactly the problem. The only way to understand how valuable or not any manufacturer's water resistance rating is is to carefully read the warranty and be sure that they will repair any damages caused to the watch while it is being used within it's water rating. Or just buy an ISO rated diver and know that the watch you buy was individually pressure tested (to 20% over is rating!) before sale .

It pains me how the Swiss successfully managed to trick everyone into thinking that quartz is inherently soulless and not horologically significant.
They managed to find a way to run electricity through a rock to make it vibrate exactly 36000 times a second and to then measure that and have it advance a second hand by one tick. It's really cool and interesting. And in the beginning watches wore the quartz label with pride because it was space age technology and watches were beautifully designed to show it off. That quartz timekeeping managed to bring beyond-COSC horological excellence to the masses for a fraction of the cost of mechanicals is also an achievement. It's the absolute democratization of timekeeping.

Because it's a Cartier tank but bigger with a cheesy tough guy bezel on it to look tougher. It looks like a watch trying to be something it's not. It's like manlet cope in watch form.

But he picked the ugliest Santos. I am not a huge fan of either of the watches but I prefer the Santos.

The simpler it looks the better.

It's more like the reverse of small seconds; the seconds are the full circumference and the hour and minute hand are in a small subdial.

RUDOLPH VALENTINO – 1926

>Rudolph Valentino insisted on wearing his Tank watch in every scene of the American silent film The Son of the Sheik directed by George Fitzmaurice, which would be his final film appearance.

>This delightful inconsistency is visible in the film stills, where the "Great Lover" wears traditional Middle Eastern garb along with his beloved watch.

>This was the Tank's first movie role.

>I'm sure most people out in public know fuck all about watches but do know Rolex

They do know the brand, they do not recognize their models, you can wear a tank watch and say it is a rolex and normies will believe it as long as they do not look at the brand.
