>seriously this "leave an awesome watch behind for your kids" thing is the most retarded thought in watchmaking, it falls apart if you think about it for even 1 second.

It only works if the watch has actual sentimental value, and that means the watch has been used and abused and the watch has some memories tied to it.Getting a really nice watch and only wearing it sometimes because the objective is not wearing it to pass it down without being destroyed or scratched is ridiculous. That's why even cheap watches can be passed down, their market value is not important, the key element is the relationship between the watch, the father and the sons/daughters.

An idiom is a figurative, non-literal meaning attached to the phrases.

So "a one waych collection" is not literally a collection of a single item but a figurative way of articulating the idea of a single item fulfilling many roles.

Just like when something is up in the air. Its not literally up floating around its a figurative way of explaining somethingbis undecided

There is a vido review up for the san martin vintage diver, I'm pretty annoyed about the bracelet.
Also someone in the comments pointed out that they made the dail sort of grey black to give it a vintage look but then the ceramic bezel is a lustrous jet black.
Overall i really want to get one but the bracelet sucks and im not holding my breath for them to make another bracelet that fits that model.
Also the aliexpress page says they are out out black dials and people that order for the 11/11 sale may get dials that say submariner instead of automatic.

Yes, most ot the watches are popular options for the average consoomer.

-Speedy is obvious
-Seiko black, yes, diver yes, white...that's unusual I think.
-Tissot is a normie and good brand
-Khaki field is nice and cheap
-Air king is nice and cheap, good option for entering the Rolex gang, same for oysterdate
-Seamaster is nice

I think at that range not many people look for Tags or Cartier tanks like the other anon said, aquaracers maybe, but not tanks, they are really niche watches for people looking at a specific aesthetics, square watches are not for everybody.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm projecting, but I had a bit of a trauma from my first seiko. STORY TIME: it was an SKX with the second language in spanish. One time I accidentally left the day on spanish and the guys started making fun of me thinking I was a latino--and my skin color is a little tan--so they had this mexican whiskey or something and were like "Ayo Anon you're mexican, what does it say here on the ingredients" and it pissed me off so much I stopped wearing it for a while, and when I did again, made sure it was in english. So there's this part after 12am when the watch changes dates and the language goes into the second language for about 2hours, and I was at a friend's that I was trying to nail, so it's about 1am and her dad comes in and looks at my watch and whispers "Oh damn Stacy I didn't know you were into latinos..." when he had never had a problem or said anything about that before. So I never wore the watch again. All other bilingual seikos I get are on japanese or arabic (since I don't look neither asian nor middle easter, people really don't assume anything, or on some cases don't even know what the language is). That's pretty much it.

No, I didn't. He explicitly mentioned the iron cross, which is a Nazi symbol, no matter how many "muh history" arguments one makes. Nazis adopted it from their nation's recent military past as direct successors. In other words, twitter/zoomers etc correctly call out Nazi symbolism per his argument. The VC cross' only connection with Germany is a single Prussian medal that has nothing to do with the million other iron crosses in history.

Ofc a poltard sees iron crosses everywhere and is ready to defend their history that is not at all Nazi, I swear guys.

I've seen davosa a couple of times. When is a Sub homage no longer a sub homage ?

This one has different hands, dial indices, a HE value obviously inspired from seamaster. Bezel edge is different. I really like it, not sure how worth the ~€800 it is thought

Sub homagespiss me and it's off not that they are a homage. Some are so well made and good looking. if they just used some different hands and different bezels it would be a really great watch in it's own right. They are like 80% of the way to be a respectable brand.

>continued consolidation in the high end watch market
>demand side now mostly consists of Rolex, Patek, AP and RM
>supply side is controlled by around 4 big conglomerates
>Extreme value given to brand identity and subjective/designed rarity, far outweighing value given to actual craft and material
>Watches degrade further into only being status symbols with no further interest given than the initial price of acquisition
>little to no chance for independents with interesting ideas to enter the market
>existing brands with technically genius and artistically interesting pieces struggle to survive and have their real market prices drop by 50% or more
>everyone continues to pay double list for steel shitters
The same thing that has happened to high end fashion in general over the past few years.
It used to be all about artisans using high quality materials and making creative pieces, now they make most of their revenue from logo printed shit-tier tshirts and focus mostly on marketing and brand identity, to the detriment of their quality.

If you just care about brands then yes, it was better in the 70's when omega was 2000's seiko tier and Rolex were actual tools.
