it likely wont do much and you'll risk residual moisture damage on the dial. Use a small eyeglass screwdriver and take the movement out. IIRC there are like 2 fastening screws along with 2 mini retaining washers (please be careful and dont lose them, i almost did.). At least that was the case for mine. There are vostok opening videoes on youtube. Its scary the 1st time doing it but after that its nothing much.

The watch is a 1911 Le Modulor first introduced in 1995, one of the most beautiful 1990's-2000's luxury sports chronographs and Ebel's flagship model at that time. Yours seem to be a later, "facelifted" model available from around 2000, retail price would have been at around 4000-5000 euros.
Their main markets were Italy, Germany and Austria, so I'd look for "verkaufte artikel"/"Ogetti venduti" on ebay.de and ebay.it to establish its current value (many sellers won't post outside their respective countries so they won't appear on ebay.com), but it's probably around 1200-1500 euros.
Ebels are notoriously undervalued on the grey and the second hand market, what's a shame because they are among the few brands with a consistent design language and their quality is way superior to the contemporary Breitlings/Baume et Merciers.

Is there transparency when it comes to pricing in the luxury price bracket? To me, 100$ for a minor utility and a slight aesthetic gain is already much. But in the watch world, 1000$ is kinda entry level, 5000$ is decent but not much and the fun starts at 30k+ it seems. So let's compare a 10k watch like a submariner to a 50k watch like a nautilus. Where's the 40k of additional value coming in? The prices are also inflated, but less than the ones in watch world, there you can have a professional bike for 14k-17k full equiped, some basic pro bike for 10k, really really good bikes for 5k-6k, cool bikes for 3k, decent bikes for 1,5k, and beginner bikes for 750, and the most important thing, the gears, once you start buying at the 1,5k range you start getting all the benefits of higer tiers unless they weight more, so you can have a nice bike for not a lot of money. If you compare both worls you clearly see that watch world is fucked up, really really fucked up, things cost more than it should but is like that because people are willing to spend money.

i have leather ones from 2mm to 4mm.
i never wear the 4mm, i did not know when i bought it.
I bought it for my 19mm wide orient but due to its thickness its horrible to wear. Its like a fucking bdsm wristband.
I then bought another leather strap which was 20mm wide with the intention of squeezing it into the 19mm.
it had perfectly fine thickness but due to the quick release springbars it will not go into the 19mm. And i cant take them out to use normal springbars.

I've set a max budget of 1000€ to spend on watches for the forseeable future. Basically I just go to the gym and work (desk job, business formal). Should I try to snipe one watch and wait for the perfect value offer and the dress it up or down with bracelets? This would limit me to a white or black dial that's kind of basic to fit all possible situations but high quality and maximum wrist time which would max out the value for money even more. But it also comes with a bulk risk and no alternatives to fall back on if something breaks. Or should I split the budget on 2 watches (one dress, one casual and robust) with maybe something like a 60/40 split. Or should I get about 5 watches with specific purposes and fits, the biggest advantage with this I think is I can get into funkytown on 1 or 2 watches and get some insane chrono or vostok. But I'd probably have to get a quartz dresser which kind of defeats the purpose of a dress watch imo.

I like these, the ana digi has so much charme.
The quartz movement will handle shock much better. So workout should be no problem. I would not do repeated, hard shocks like hammering with it, just so it doesn't rattle the hands loose. But that is just paranoia, usually quartz watches are tougher than we expect. Take care of it, it's a fun watch.
