I believe that building is in Bali funnily enough.

I cannot vibe without open-plan architecture. What is the point in closing off the kitchen, it's crazy.

Big windows, open spaces, lots of plants - it's not that hard but so many designers/architects don't seem to get it.

Actually, no one was living there at the time. Perhaps you may have a greater appreciation for it in context. It is the principal kitchen within a magnificent, Federal house, circa 1795, in Kentucky no less.

The form is tried and true. Hardly innovative.

Personally I rarely use any form of illumination besides traditional incandescent; especially for any sort of table top lighting. Halogen works well for spot lighting. I never, ever use any sort of led or other bot light source. I'd rather bathe in fluorescent hell.

lol there are led bulbs that produce the same light as incandescent and use far less energy. You're just being a Luddite at this point.

I do love the vintage gas lights you've been posting even though they're not really practical in this day and age. I have a couple of these beaux arts style sconces that I bought in Paris. Just had them rewired so I can finally hang them.

I really recommend giving new bulbs a chance. They're almost universally more cost effective anyway since the initial price is offset by a longevity many times that of an incandescent bulb. Plus many governments will give you a rebate for buying LED bulbs as an incentive to conserve energy.
