My love for obsolete items with vague historical relevance got the best of me and I pulled the trigger.
Sure it's a bit beaten up but it's a model from the 60s so the fact that it still works is already enough considering how many of these east-german shitters were left in disrepair when east-germans discovered the rest of the world and saw that mechanical watches with no jewels were not state of the art in the 90s.
Got it for 190€ with shipping, which is a bit pricy for a watch that's not all that great but again, with the age and how rare it is to see survivors of that era that are even working, I'm calling it a not-entirely-garbage deal.
I've had my eyes on that very specific model fro a while too. I love that specific dial, it's one of Ruhla's few great designs, before they started stagnating and putting out 70s designs well into the mid 80s.

The watch is really small at 36mm so every flaw that immediatly pops out under a macro lens won't be as glaring in person. Main problem will be the worn-out crown (though the movement is fine, according to the sellers and to some photos) and the lugs losing their lacquer.

Problem is, most of these watches were not made with great materials, the GDR being the GDR, so finding any donor with a crown that isn't worn is almost impossible. I'll keep an eye out, but it's literally the first problem to occur, after the garbage leather-ersatz straps disintegrating.
Still, glad I could find the precise dial I wanted. It should arrive quickly. Hopefuly.
