The info in the OP is nice, but I think it’s important to keep in mind that /tip/ is more a vibe/mindset then a set of rules for clothing.

There are no real rules for what you can and can’t wear in /tip/. All that matters is that you come from the right background. Live in the Northeast? That’s /tip/. Go to a prestigious college? That’s /tip/. Have an aristocratic physiognomy? Daddy’s trust fund pays fur your living expenses? That’s /tip/. As long as you fall into this social class, you can wear pretty much whatever you want, and simply the fact that YOU are wearing it makes it /tip/.

On the other hand, someone who doesn’t fit the above criteria can follow all of the “””rules””” but they will never be enough. Are you black? Poor? Retarded? Sorry friendo; doesn’t matter how many brown penny loafers, sack blazers with two cuff buttons, or rugby shirts you wear. You will never be /tip/

I made $85k/yr.

I did literally nothing but work for 2 years. From 7a.m. to 7p.m. I was in my office or lab, and then I would go home and work some more from home.

And your obligations are to sit on tons if committees or
panels. Like Chem Club advisor or some shit. Because what I really want to do on Saturday is to drive across town to fill out van rental forms for a group of 3 people to take a trip to a brewery.

It was hell. I thought about suicide almost every day. Industry is so much better. I immediately got a $15k pay bump, and work 8-5 with no extra obligations outside of work.

well desu, the right looks more tip than the left, simply because of the eyelets, thick metal eyelets are not tip. A dressier shoe should have no metal eyelets and the eyelets should be small, for a finer smoother lace.

The right we can call "dress" boots because of the eyelets and the thinner sole. However, dress boots are not tip. Tip boots include
>duck boots
>rain boots
>chukka boots (if done well)

It's not just this though, it's the cut of the lapelles, and the sleeve height, Italian slim cuts have thin sleek lapelles, and just mainly use less fabric than a classic British or American style suit. There is nothing wrong with a more snug fitting TIP suit, but it's other aspects that will judge whether it's TIP or not. Paying $60 for a shit sweater like that is a waste, you can spend $100 and get drakes, j. press, and occasionally italian cashmere on ebay.
FYI the Polo line no longer makes anything nice, unless its the suits by Corneliani and I think shoes by C&J
RLPL and RRL and where you'd have to look for quality goods bearing the ralph lauren name.

Vintage Polo can be good. Anything recent was made with inferior materials by Asian children and marked up 9000% so you can show everyone the pony on your chest.

Either buy vintage or buy something else, preferably without a logo stitched on the chest.
