>no one will care

You have to purchase a watch for yourself. LITERALLY no one cares. Very few people care about what you wear, already, and even FEWER care about what's on your wrist. If it isn't a Rolex, 0.01% of the population will know anything about the watch you're wearing. Even watch people don't know everything and won't care either because they are too up their own ass to ask, or think it's some elitist shit and wouldn't ask about your watch without feeling insecure.

So if you are purchasing a watch for other people to care about, you have two options:
>Rolex (and even then, normies have no idea wtf makes rolex special or worth a lot. And if you tell them it's a >$10k watch that you have to fucking wind manually every day if you don't wear it for 36h their jaw will hit the fucking floor. And they also will have no clue what the difference among models is)
>Or a watch with a Ridiculous design like that fucking DBZ watch or the Spooky Ghost Swatch watch

That's it.

If you aren't purchasing one of the two above, no one will care or know. So you do it for yourself.

Don't even get me started on the Monster too.
The first gen Monster was bold and industrial but it still looked good, it didn't feel garish. Then came the gen2, with triangular indices that gave it an unparalleled aggressive look, and the addition of a knurled crown that made it even more unique and masculine, on top of being comfortable to use.
Now they've completely destroyed the Monster's identity while tripling the price.

A lot of good points. That's why I got the cream dial one--mitigates the datewheel contrast and the black text and logo look smaller on the dial. I don't mind the logo itself and it works well with the new 20 BAR typeface. It's actually more of a revival of the Red Alpinist series from the mid 90s which had a cyclops and a sportier look than the Sarb Alpinist.

Don't get me wrong. The ST19 is good, accurate and reliable. Its a great movement that made sub $500 Mechanical Chronographs Possible. But it will never match a movement that costs more to manufacture than most ST19 Powered Watches.

things like age, unique patina, history and rarity is often very poorly quantified by money. Sure, this *insert vintage shitter here* is being sold for $200 right now but can you buy it for $200 anytime you want in the future? who knows how many still remain in working order?

obsessing about the cost of a watch is stupid anyway. You might as well say RMs are better than 99.9% of all watches because they cost more

YOU value all those things, so YOU attribute that value to them. do you think a random person gives a fuck about patina?
if I made my own watch that was one-of-a-kind (the most rare item possible), would it be valuable? would it be valuable in the future? value literally only depends on the buyer.

If Hamilton can come in at about half the price point, give or take, they probably can chew a nice little piece of Breitling business off. Just damn good looking watches, at least from the early preview pictures. It beat a certain Lemania calibre that's somehow technically superior in every way but costs a smidge more for manufacturers to produce so it it's been left by the wayside in favour of the cheapy one. >not only are smaller, retro-sized timepieces in fashion, but brands are increasingly looking to their archives. For a short while, there has been a notable trend for reissuing classic watches – particularly those with an intriguing backstory. The latest from Longines? A re-creation of a piece it made more than 70 years ago exclusively for the French Navy.
>The story begins in 1947 when the Marine Nationale asked Longines to supply a robust, accurate wristwatch for sailors. The outcome was Ref 5774, a waterproof 33.5mm-diameter piece that went on to serve the navy’s crews, especially while diving in shallow waters. These pieces have long since held cult appeal, so it makes sense that Longines has chosen to revisit the design.
>For the new Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale, unveiled today, the case has been expanded to 38.5mm – still relatively small by modern standards but large enough not to look peculiar.

>want to recreate iconic vintage watch
>make it a normal 38.5mm instead of a 34 or even a 36mm
>now it just looks just like every other field watch

Fuck you, Longines. Why cant brands do reissues right? you had the legend diver at 36mm,why cant you not do the same for this or have the balls to issue a 34mm mens watch now?

Say with me. Modern Longines is DOGSHIT. Fucking lapdog of the swatch group stuck in a corporal limbo. Fuckers used to compete with Rolex, now they gobble up the shit of Swatch, forever stuck in the middle. No universal design language in their watches. Look at the hydroconquest then look at the dolce vita and tell me they come from the same company
>but anon, one's a dress watch and the other one is a diver!
So? Look at the Sub and then look at the President. Look at the Snowflake and then look at the GS Diver. You can tell there's a certain brand design language. Longines on the other hand is like
>lmao let's copy Cartier since we're so dogshit nowadays!
The fuckers are so useless not only can they not come up with new designs, they can't even adapt THEIR OWN OLD design properly, all you have to do is keep the original proportions. But no, you're so fucking scared of alienating fat mall fucks with 10 inch wrists that you have to make them 40mm to appeal to le modern standards and completely fuck over the original design. Don't even get me started on the dial fauxtina. Longines is peak zombie brand.

Probably a sub upgrade, don't know if they are going to make it in blue like some people are speculating. When they did the pepsi in steel, they screwed up, so quickly changed the white gold version with a blue dial. So if they are going to make a steel blue sub, they pretty much have to change completely the sub range, or is a shade of blue completely different to the smurf.

>Two weeks ago, the 24-year-old Bas was with some of his friends on a little beach in Amsterdam. Enjoying the sun and the water. At some point, he noticed that someone tried to steal the Rolex of one of his friends. He said something to the robber and this was returned with three shots.

>Bas was dead. His murderer threatened to shoot his friends as well if they did anything but walk away. I fully understand that in some parts of the world this is the reality of every day, but here in The Netherlands, it is not. Or, perhaps better said, it was not. Now, the case is still ongoing and under investigation, but we’ve seen a huge amount of “Rolex robberies” in the past months here in The Netherlands. Often, only with material loss, but in the sad case described above, it cost a young man his life.

>Again, in certain parts of the world, it isn’t very wise to wear a Rolex. Or any expensive watch, for that matter. It used to be safe here in The Netherlands, perhaps most of Europe. But it hasn’t been for a while. The news tells us of watch-related stabbings in London. There have been several “Rolex robberies” in Amsterdam over the last few years. Some well known Dutch people were robbed of their Rolex watch in Amsterdam in the last three years, mainly because the robbers knew they had these watches on them. It is easy to see on the Instagram pages of these people what they’re wearing and where they like to hang out.

Putting yourself and your friends in danger because you want to wear a Rolex? I don’t have the answer, it just makes me think about it before I leave the house. It makes me aware that there’s danger in wearing a nice watch in public places. A situation that I only knew from stories. Stories that seemed so far removed from my daily reality. They were tales of horror from far-flung lands. And now these stories are being told by people on my street about someone that lived nearby. It is insane.

>A while ago (before the killing of Bas), I noticed that two guys first noticed my Rolex before they started a conversation with me. That gave me a very unpleasant feeling, especially as it was in front of my home. I immediately realized I picked the wrong watch for that day to wear. I am confident it wouldn’t be the case with any of the other brands I own. Rolex is so well known, also by people who know nothing about watches. The current demand for Rolex doesn’t help exactly. The fact that prices are just going through the roof, even for the models that used to be stuck at the dealer’s windows forever, doesn’t help.

Having shitters is a good option, but another better option would be not being a show-off.Based dalai wear his rolexes and pateks with shit bracelets and under the wrist, sometimes the watch is upside down because he does not want people to focus on the watch and he does not want to use watches as a wealth simbol, he just like watches.

The eternal german is by default retarded and autistic. They just don't take the problem serious until it hits them and then they cope around it and let in even more scum.
I did my part but not endangering my social status, if they don't get the hint, they need to find out the hard way.

>I'ts intended to protect agains pickpockets, that distract you with a map or some dumb question and manage to unlock the watch and pull it off your arm without noticing. (super rare in reality).
I looked around at YT and there are many guides, but I don't think that would work against me, I'm pretty autist and I'm really aware when someone is really near to me, and even more when anyone is touching me, maybe they can pickpocket me if I'm doing anything else, but no way they can get near me and steal my watch by holding my wrists. I once were at a tourist city on my country, then a gipsy non romanian woman came to me and picked my hand, I instantly started backing up while looking around checking the surroundings just in case some other person came to steal (romanians are known for it), the woman wasn't trying to steal, it was just a classic ''scam'', they hold your hand, they tell you your future, they put some herbs on your hand and then you must pay a little money for it, some tourists like it, others not.

That being said the only places I won't wear a decent watch are truly desperate and dangerous places like Sao Paulo and equivalent cities around the globe. Won't wear a wedding band, won't carry much cash and won't wear any sort of clothing or accessories that make me stand out as even earning a mediocre living. Seen men and women robbed for much less than a Casio or $20 titanium beater wedding band in places like that.

Happyness tied to material things is relative to the wealth of the surrounding people, if you are rich but the people around you are way more rich, you will feel poor, but if you flex on poor people will feel better, that's why many people even when rich, are pretty greedy or want to show off.Not every person is like that, but is mostly like that for people who value money and status.

South Slav here. Two of my best friends moved to Germoney. One to work in construction, the other as a molecular biologist. A good quarter of the people my age moved somewhere else better to live. They are all sorely missed here and almost all are law-abiding legal immigrants.
I can't imagine what it feels like to them to be treated as second class citizens by garbage like you.

Literally and unironically ONLY (and I can't stress the "only" part enough, here) employers depress wages. Blaming a working class person, even if they're a migrant, is a fucked up attitude and ONLY helps line the pockets of billionaires because for some reason you're defending them.
