I guess it really depends on your hair type. My hair is really thick and straight, so it actually slicks back pretty easily with the right product. I would imagine that someone with very wavy hair would have to spend a lot more time blowdrying/combing.

This is kind of all I've got by now, without seeing a barber since January at the start of the year. I don't want to go to a barbershop for fear of disease. I might grow for a whole year, but slicked back sides is a good way to deal with additional lengths, and I trim the back myself.

I've done this since 2018
Condition, Get out of shower, dry hair with cotton cloth, argon oil on hands slick back then comb back with comb. Let that sit for a couple hours and then run hands through hair to add volume and make it look less perfect. My hair is dark brown, straight on top but curly on back and sides. People tell me I look like a Greco Roman statue
If you have the med look (Spanish, Italian, Greek, north African, Turk, levantine) it's a great style. I haven't seen this pulled off well on lighter skin blonde hair. They seem to only look good with short or long hair, medium style like that just looks dirty on them idk why

I need some advice.
I'm trying to grow my hair,It's about 4 inches longin the front and 2 on the back, my hair is fine and silky so it tends to curl/bend around the middle of the hair length because the weight is more than what the hair can handle.
also when I use hair wax it make the hair frizzle because the wax would shrink the hair on one side and make the curl/bend even worse.
Normally at home, I just comb it back.
But when I go outside any gust of wind would make me look like I'm going for the emo look.
What to do? I want to go for something like pic related, and since my hair is fine I have to keep the sides long to make for some volume.
And what to do about the hair in the back?
In the image it seems like its weight is holding it straight, but mine is so fine it tends to bend/curls sideways making me looking like anime character.

So I haven’t gotten a haircut in about 5 months now because of the rona but I don’t mind since I’m growing it out. I have very thick wavy spic hair that tends to fall out of place even if I comb it back with a fine comb and pomade. Generally my routine would be to slick it back and then as it falls out of place it does so in a controlled manner that stays out of my face. Recently however I’ve considered perhaps using my fingers and pomade to get more of a messy swept back look like picrel, since the back is too long and frizzy to slick back in a cleaner style. It fell out of place within minutes and I’m wondering if the solution is to get a stronger pomade, a different type of hair product altogether, or to blow dry it? The effect I want is for the hair to still be soft and a bit malleable, greasy, but to stay more or less swept back. Is that possible without the hair getting stiff? Thanks

If you let it grow long enough eventually the weight will hold it down straight but that's probably longer than the style you're going for.
You could straighten it, or cut it short enough so that the back isn't long enough to flick up, and ask for the top to be left longer.
I'm not talking undercut, just scizzor trimmed back and sides with longer top.
