Has anyone got any watch suggestions for someone with literally miniscule wrists and hands? I have a steel rotary watch. Very plain and not even a particularly large watch face but I had to ask the store to take off almost ever single possible link out of the chain just so it would fit on my wrist. As such it looks sort of awkward because the watch face almost covers my entire wrist and the chain doesn't wrap smoothly around my wrist despite the links being small. I have no specific budget but obviously the cheaper the better. I have no specific features I'm looking for but slightly waterproof would be nice just in case I go swimming.

I just want something nice and simple that I can slap on my toddler sized wrists and leave there for formal occasions, normal work days and going out hiking. Beyond that I'm not too bothered.

Funnily enough, these aren't the ones that changed with simplified chinese, instead it streamlined the more commonly used ones to make writing easier and faster and increase literacy without actually training competent teachers.
It basically did to the chinese language what some US schools tried to do with "ebonics" as an accepted dialect to boost the results of students who aren't good enough with normalized english.

It did make reading easier to an extent. The basics can be learned faster.
All it did was move the beginning of the learning curve. The idea was to cancel out the inherent "elitism" of written chinese but it just moved the issue a bit further down the road and created a wall even harder to climb as there is now a larger divide between everyday written chinese and more complex written chinese. Removing key ideograms by simplifying them also removed a key that can be used to contextually get some understanding of unknown words.
Great job Mao, you fucked up again.

What it is though is just incredibly devoid of original thought, since it's as if the creators googled "dive watches" and just took random elements from some of the famous ones and put them together without thinking of how the look works as a result. At least an homage is honest in the fact that it's just ripping off a popular watch. Other microbrands are capable of designing their own hands, or dial, or indices.

Chinese products have earned their shitty reputation because they use cheap materials and slave labor, not to mention that they steal intellectual property from competing nations and companies and then slap their government owned company logo on it.

That would mean they would have to design their own watches, ones that would sell. If they went "legit" they could not replicate a real movement because they are patented so they would have a design and build their own movement from scratch. They would have to compete with other watches at that price level and no matter how cheap their labour is they lag behind in material science and build quality. So once they have done all that work and spent all that money designing and manufacturing a good, desirable watch Chinese watch their neighbours down the road have already stolen the design and are producing reps for a 1/10'th of the price.

>yet people still disregard them
*yet swissfags still disregard them
It's a specific subset of people that only swear by swiss made stuff.
Less wealthy watch enthusiasts have had time to grow fond of japanese as well as german or russian manufacturing and tend to agree that swiss mass-production is pretty overrated and the competition has pretty much caught up.
The people who can actually get into very high-end watches look at specific watchmakers rather than country of origin. That's why some of the highest luxury watches can come from Japan, France or even Belgium and their limited run of 10 pieces a year will be sold out anyway because what matter is the individual people working on it (who at that level are known by name) rather than the origin label.

>> No.15424508

>>15424355
With the lax regulation of the swiss made label it's more profitable and takes less effort to acquire a mid-range Swiss company with a still reputable brand name and a traditional flagship model to build on. Look into the case of Eterna and expect more such acquisitions to come in the watch next industry crisis.

Credor wasn't even available to buy outside of Japan until very recently and even now they aren't marketed. Outside of a few watchnerds they are completely unknown.

GS suffers from a similar issue. Availability outside the Far East was extremely limited for most of its history and they have only really started to advertise themselves to a western audience in the last few years. To the vast majority of normies they hear the word Seiko and instantly think of the cheap affordable shiitter they already know. Unless they see them upclose and in person how would anyone know the difference? I only saw my first GS for sale in an AD that wasn't a Seiko Boutique this year so it could change but that takes time. It's not something that happens overnight.

no, these have been around for some time, the new seiko5s are considerably more in price. They are phasing out the 7s26 movement. The old seiko 5s with the shield like the snk80x series have slowly crept up in price already. In the past I think you could have even gotten them for around $65.

the rotor is audible if you focus on it, but that is a cheap automatic problem, not exclusive to the watch. The strap is pretty jank and you'd want a 3rd party strap but seiko in general is like that.

also you can look at orient tristars. They cost and perform the sameish and are also automatics. But with orients inhouse movement and with a districtive retro flair
