rolexes are not, and never were, these magical watches that had the highest standards of engineering. it's just a tool watch made to above average standards and tolerances. if the watch was actually used regularly, it could probably use a good servicing. if it looks in pretty good condition and not beat to fuck it might just need a little lube. the worst case scenario short of it being nonfunctional can be solved by just taking it to a local watch repair place and having them lube it up a little, which should cost a few hundred and will be fine so long as they are not just throwing the movement in oil and calling it a day.
