So Neofolk fashion is just late 19th-early 20th century peasant garb and early 20th century milsurp? Am I getting this right? Dark and earthy tones only, so obviously only German milsurp– but that doesn't mean you're sympathetic to Nazism, your Nazi sympathies are purely coincidental.

Well... no. But usually when someone asks this question about what "Neofolk" is, a big argument bursts out about Neofolk as fashion vs a musical subgenre and what political ideology its conveying and if its conveying sympathies, support for an ideology vs deconstructing, blah blah blah.

I tend to think of Neofolk style as being about a feeling of romance and mystery but with a heavy suggestion of violence. I don't know. It's supposed to be hard to put into words, and I don't think it's supposed to be checklist of items you can acquire.
