>How to dress this way without feeling like a larp?
Start small.
>Don't wear sweatpants everyday
Opt for nice jeans or chinos. Soon after ditch the hoodies for sweaters, even if it's a cotton crewneck it's a start.
>you've kicked the hoody/sweats addiction everyone has
it's summer so instead of t shirts, start wearing tops with a collar as a start. a polo shouldn't be uncomfortable or feel like a larp, it's incredibly casual yet still better than a t shirt. eventually shift to button up short & long sleeves in your rotation.
>you're basically 50% there
time to ditch the sneakers & running shoes. start small with some boat shoes or ranger mocs. you'll probably find loafers stuffy even though they're also a casual shoe. eventually you'll be comfy in leather shoes and can start to branch out.

congrats now you are not feeling super uncomfortable and haven't made a drastic shift in your wardrobe that your day to day chums will pickup on immediately like you're trying to larp/become something.
just think of the whole process as dressing more like an adult and dressing smart casual.

Even at that point it's still super loud, the "fun shirt" under a navy/tan version of it would be better as it's the same print basically. With a shirt you can also cover parts of it, more versatile to wear with your swim trunks, etc. The jacket is just a jacket and going to always be loud.

get A's. depending on your high school, this can be easy or hard. at mine, it was extremely easy due to grade inflation. fucked up my class ranking though. i had a 3.85 GPA, and I wasn't even in the top 100 students.
study hard for SAT and ACT. those tests arent actually hard. and 90% of high school students dont prepare at all. so if you study even a little bit, you end up in that top 90th percentile. if you study a lot, you can get an absurdly high score.
do some sort of activities in college. yearbook or volleyball or something. you dont have to be good at it. its just good to show interests.
you can do it anon. all you need is motivation.
i did the first two, but neglected to show any interests. i got into a selective state school, dropped out, and am now attending another state school that is less selective. still regionally respected, but its no Harvard

I’ve had trouble with leather cases before. The eagles 2018 super bowl win was one of the only things that made me happy when I was depressed (the other thing was going to church). Also I joined the football team late in high school after that and the exercise involved made me very happy about my self. I have an eagles tie clip and eagles scarf which I wear with my tweed jacket (both gain a lot of normie compliments). But yeah when I do dress without influence from any type classic style (rarely) it would probably be to a sporting event (and I usually try to keep trad there too). Also school logo sweaters and stuff that is in the right situation can be tippy, like wearing an orange sweater if you go to Syracuse.

I know. I acquired more wealth, power, and prestige than most. But you can acquire all you want and still feel empty. What power wouldn't I trade for a little more time with my family? What price wouldn't I pay for an evening with friends? It took a deadly illness to put me eye to eye with that truth, but it is a truth that the country, caught up in its ruthless ambitions and moral decay, can learn on my dime. I don't know who will lead us through the '90s, but they must be made to speak to this spiritual vacuum at the heart of American society, this tumor of the soul....I was wrong to follow the meanness of Conservatism. I should have been trying to help people instead of taking advantage of them. I don't hate anyone anymore. For the first time in my life I don't hate somebody. This is the biggest aspiring middle class giveaway that exists. I come from an old land owners family and seen many times people like you suddenly changing their vocabulary to what they perceive more refined around us. Contrary to what lower classes like to think we prefer to keep our language simple and lighthearted. For example if someone died we'd never say 'my condolences' but rather 'it's a bummer'. Using the word 'pardon' is another dead giveaway etc. You probably sound posh to lower class people but you'll never impress anyone from the general upper class populace this way. At worst they'll think of you as a larping chin. As someone else said at this age you can't really change your vocabulary and the way you carry yourself to don't exude contradictory signals. Thanks man. God forbid someone offer an actual opinion on clothing in this thread. The larp wars are just getting sad at this point. I know Budd's reputation is impeccable for shirting, but I also hadn't heard anything about their ocbd. Another issue is that these are royal oxford. I would really prefer regular oxford but they're currently cheap. Drake's is new to the shirting game, but I'm not at all surprised they're good at it. What aren't they good at? Aren't they taking a stab at suiting now too?

Looking at the Budd shirt, I imagine it's more the type of button-down that is intended to be paired with a suit and tie (i.e. essentially a dress shirt made from Oxford cloth with a button down collar), rather than the more 'casual' unlined collar OCBDs which most people seem to like. The Drake's one is much more the latter - so I'd say it depends on how you'll wear it which would determine what to get.

And yeah, Drakes is really killing it at the moment

Overall it's pretty solid. People will tell you that your pants rise is too low and that it messes up your proportions. I don't think that's entirely true here. The real crim is that you've cuffed them too high and worn sock. If you cuffed them lower and opted for socks in a different color or even no socks, you'd look great. The shirt/pants/shoes combo definitely works.
You're a brave soul. Thank you for posting.

This is literally the story of my family. My father is from an (established but still) working class who made it to Penn where he met my mother. He was very preppy and I could post some of his schools' days photos here as inspo. This didn't help him to be treated as an absolute nobody by mothers' family just because she is from this newspaper empire clan from CT that you can trace back to 400 of New York. They always treated my father as a foreign body that is only supposed to help to raise kids of his wife. I still have some early childhood memories of going to grandparents' house and how weirdly my father was treated by everyone. Back then I didn't understand anything and have regrets for stuff I was saying as a kid. Moms' family always used to give me and my sister nicer (i.e. more expensive) Christmas and birthday gifts and seemed more fun. For that reason as a stupid kid I was saying stuff like that I love my grandparents from my moms' side more etc. I cringe when I think about now and can only imagine how hurtful it had to be for my father and my grandparents from his side. At some point when I was around 5 my dad had cut contacts with my moms' family cold turkey, and they started arguing a lot. There was no night without them shouting at each other and I remember as a kid that I wished they just divorced. That's why I think I grew up as this autistic shut in who had to lose his virginity to a hooker at 21 and now works as a code monkey in SF This kind of stuff fucks you up for life. My parents separated when I was in college and I don't have good contact with neither of them now. I only hear sometimes from my mother talking shit about my father who apparently has now a problem with alcohol and lives alone in NY. Only now as an adult I can fully understand of what my father had to go through and I feel sorry for him but don't really know how can I help him. I like some trad stuff but I dislike things such as boat shoes, barbour jackets, penny loafers, pastel shorts and baggy american blazers.

This is a strawman. A GOOD American suit, from, say, J. Press, fits well, but isn't faggy slim fit. Whenever wops talk shit about American suits, they always use shitty suits from like J.C. Penney as an example, while using the finest Italian tailors as examples of Italian suits.

Well, American suits are similar to British suits, but with some different details, such as a single vent, natural shoulders, an undarted jacket, the 3/2 roll, and unpleated pants.

>> No.15201236

>>15201215
Honestly, those "rules" are meaningless. People just buy suits in a color they like. The average suit wearer doesn't know or care about notch vs peak lapels, double vs single vents, etc. The average person goes to a store, sees a color they like and gets it, and they may or may not get it altered after.
No one is thinking "hmm, this suit is distinctly British with the padding and cut, I should get it."

I got a MTM suit made for my wedding and was actually overwhelmed by how many options I had. I thought I knew what I wanted as far as color, wool, etc. but they started having me pick out buttons, the color of the lining inside, flap vs jetted pockets, vent style and everything and it was a ton to process.
I don't blame the average shmuck for just getting a color they like and going with it
Full bespoke would be overwhelming as fuck

Navy wool as it was for my wedding and conservative enough to use for my future business career (going into healthcare administration). Notch lapels, 2 buttons, two side vents, blue buttons as well. The only detail I chose to be fun with was jetted instead of flapped pockets as I hate flap pockets.

If you are tall and with skinny shoulders, all shirts that wll fit your shoulders will be laughably short on your body and never stay inside your pants when you tuck. U end up having to oversizr the shirt just so it can be tucked and then it doesn't fit your shoulders anymore, and looks baggy. SO I understand the usefulness of a shirt like this, because it at least looks better.

You wear clothing in accordance to your body shape. There is such a thing of it being to slim and to baggy. Scale the room of your clothing properly, and you all wouldn't be having this issue. There is nothing inherently incorrect about Slim or tappered clothing. If you are wearing more baggy clothing, you might be opting in for comfort while doing manual work.

Yea I'm gonna be honest vocabulary, speaking patterns, and mannerisms are mostly derived from your lifestyle. I read a lot of old books so people make fun of me for talking weird because I just unconsciously choose unmodern words because they are just whats floating around. And when I was fifteen fucking years old I knew to say my condolences, and I have said it many times, to even my young friends back then, and no one bats a fucking eye. Its polite, especially if you don't know the deceased, if you went more casual it would seem flippant, and if you were more obseqious it would seem disgenuine and queer.

Ignore this faglord. I study the 16th century and spend all of my time writing in academese. He's either a massive brainlet coping with being easily impressionable (like the sort of person who watches a movie and acts like the protagonist for the next 24 hours) or he's an autist deliberately affecting a ridiculous speech pattern because he thinks it will make him more interesting (which I suppose it will in the same way that watching Chris Chan documentaries is interesting). your haircut can play a lot into this.
if you wear glasses that will certainly play a role.
being tall always helps in looking older.
most of the time it just takes time to earn the respect of boomers in the workplace.
if you don't have a family that also isn't helping you. people always respect a family man because he has a lot more on the line.
a single 27 year old could ghost the company and "go on an adventure"
think about all those articles about young people ghosting their job and not even quitting.
somewhere in all their children, nieces and nephews at least one with nothing tying them down at the drop of a hat quit their job and went on a cross country trip.
I've got at least 2 cousins who've done this. they're the family fuck ups but I'm sure it's altered my uncle's perception of young people.
to anyone pissy about taking cross country trips & finding yourself type shit. that's what a gap year is for.
