I’ll probably replace the Oris with the new Seiko spb145 or a BB58 if I can get my hands on it.

Ideally I’d replace the sarb with an 114270 explorer, but I have more important shit to save for right now.

The issue with fake rolexes is that it opens you up to criticism if someone asks you if it's real. I wore a fake Daytona for years when I was in high school (this was back in the day when fakes were only from China and their movements would break if you looked at them) only because it I liked the design. It was when a professors asked me about it that I noticed how much of an effect it had. Granted, my girlfriend preferred it over the Omega..but it took me years to figure out why.

Bottom line: wear what you want to wear. Fuck the haters. Sorry for spelling...drunk.

Finally my favorite of the vintage Orients. It's pretty simple but it looks fantastic.
Orient has some interesting stuff in its history. Unfortunately the older pieces from the 50s and 60s are all base metal with either chrome plating or gold fill. They don't hold up and the base metal gets shitty as hell once the plating comes off. But there are still some gems to be found and they don't command the kind of prices that Seiko does. Definitely worth taking a look. At one point they had the Orient Star Royal line which seemed to be approaching modern Grand Seiko levels of finishing and these watches are selling for much less.

Fun fact, this is a “fantasy dial”’ which was made in piles in the late 50s through 60s by the Polish or Czech. Sellers of antiques and militaria would pick up “neutral territory” Swiss watches like Geneve, Glycine, or Mentor (now defunct) and paint on Third Reich motifs. You will find many of these watches with SS logos, totenkopfen, and swastikas in Polish antique shops and bazaars. This is pretty similar to the modding of Seiko watches, where people buy and install aftermarket bezel inserts, hands, and dials.

They were known for cheap watches. Used to be an American company but now it is owned by a Dutch conglomerate. The quality is so-so and they are known for their extremely loud ticking on their analog watches. For the same price range, I would recommend getting a Casio. The problem with cheap analog quartz watches is that they seconds hand does not align with the indices. For that reason, I would recommend a digital watch instead if that bothers you or you can step up for a citizen bn150/151 which hits all the marks and is solar powered (pic related).

Ah, that makes more sense. For $3,000 your best bet is probably vintage Grand Seikos, a vintage Seamaster/Constellation, or a vintage Air King. Any of those options would hold value really well and you really can't go wrong.

If you prefer something more niche, you could go with a King Seiko, it's sort of an alternate to Grand Seiko that isn't made anymore, and there were a lot of interesting models made back in the day. They also are HI-BEAT models so that checks the box you were looking for.
