I think that Brutalism is /effay/, but oftentimes it's just an uninspired cube of concrete. Buildings such as The Barbican are a great example of Brutalism, as it is a kind of architectural style which necessitates of the right environment to be enjoyed thoroughly. Putting something like the Torre Velasca in Milan near a Neoclassical building creates an awful juxtaposition as the tho buildings clash and jar with eachother

Exactly how I feel, anon. Not only is the correct environment needed, but each buildings surroundings need to be designed to complement it.
I think this is where brutalism gets a bad rap from - as soon as the surroundings lose consistent upkeep, the whole building begins to look dingy.

I can tell people in favor if brutalism have never lived in or seen a city full of it's influence. It's uninspired and soulles, harsh and worst of all, boring. It does not inspire, it does not compliment, it just exists as a neo cave. i don't get why people keep acting like every brutalist building is gonna be unique and well-maintained when in reality they'd all look mostly the same. 99% the people don't like living in blocks like these, so it's an awfully impractical style to build living spaces in, too
