Should I spend 3k on this bed frame? Moneys a non issue but I don't know if this is just plain financially stupid and a waste. It's from one of those etsy/mid century modern shops. I'm in love with it.

Especially love the headboard. This bed frame could last me 10+ years, should I consider this an investment or am I just making excuses for myself?

it's beautiful and handmade unique wooden pieces usually keep their value (okay, ignore the massive devaluation in victorian antiques)

get the artist to sign it.
they may be the next george nakashima

this is beautiful, and also mid century furniture has the luxury of working with colors in textiles really well (look at the eames house) if you so care to do that in the future. if you can invest in it then do it.

nakashima/wendell castle/paley core, love you for mentioning him

NO NO NO
Don't fall for this meme.

Just google "midcentury" and you would see items like armchairs, sofas, dining tables, coffee tables, wall shelves but no beds.
The whole idea of mid-century style is a living room with TV, better "invest" in other "mid-century" stuff if you like the style.

>> No.15007009

I would advice against the midcentury urban outfitters style. You gonna age faster than you imagine and this style is too stuffy old fart.

I feel like I’m talking to the owner of the shop trying to convince me to get it. Very suspicious.

Some time ago I got a quite well paid job and I'm looking to buy an apartment some time next winter. Because of that I started obviously thinking of how I want the interiors to look like. What resources do you recommend to improve my taste and see the possibilities if I want to go over the white-walls-lots-of-plants-big-windows-mattress-on-floor-kinfolk-minimalism? I feel like I'm missing interior design vocabulary other than what millennials on internet find alluring. I'm following now Dwell, Apartamento and Wallpaper magazines but have some unsettling intuition that most of the stuff there is just a step above the Kinfolkish minimalism I just critiqued, with the target of millennials replaced by 30-something (upper)middle class, well groomed "global nomads" reading Monocle on their international flights. Maybe it's just me being cynical and overcategorizing people but I feel like 90% of interior design publication are recycling the same theme over and over again. Are there any patrician magazines worth following or I should just rather research some interior designers/studios whose style resonates with mine? For example I really like Axel Vervoordt and his studio (I'm mentioning him only for example's sake. I'm 100% open to your suggestions about different styles). but I don't feel like I'm improving my taste a lot just by looking at photos of his work. I'd rather prefer some better structured publication/magazine to read.

It looks aesthetic on photo and movies, but it's a bitch to clean and dust. And it just gets old.
I would do a minimalism decor in my old age.

that is a really mediocre looking frame. if you have that much to spend, get a Nelson thin edge bed.

I'm sure you can get nice forniture for 1/4 of that price if you search for independant carpenters. They're literally charging you just for the brand.

>> No.15011890

>>15011298
yeah, if you really like that specific look then just get it custom made for way cheaper, but again the Nelson thin edge is best bed and the one that all these beds copy but worse
