before I get into crotch height, be aware the inseam is any length from the crotch to the floor, wherever the crotch sits

crotch height (left) is something I use to describe not exactly what the inseam is of the pant, but the height at which the crotch seam sits on the body! this is dependant on the body, the inseam and the waist height, not something "measurable" in one value.

drop crotch pants with a long inseam probably are long enough to drape over your shoes, but if the crotch height is higher with the same inseam, it might mean the pants end above the shoes

this is all pretty much determined by the depth of the seat and the waist height

front rise is often determined by the waist height, high waist pants often have a longer rise (right) to accomodate for the crotch, hips and part of the waist

drop crotch pants will often sit at the hips and may bare the same front rise, but just sit lower on the body

I've added some pics of my own fits to illustrate my point. left is a walter van beirendonck sharp trouser, a cropped pair of pants with a short inseam, but a high crotch height.conversely the womens rick tailored cargos on the right with a similar inseam sit different (I do wear them higher than you should cus the button always looks bad) sits lower.
