Some women don't like the daddychad miasma, but most do, even if they won't admit it on the surface. Personally, I find that women who are out of college prefer the daddychad miasma to the fuccboi cloud because they are looking for a stable, put-together man who makes them feel secure.

This is similar to how dressing streetwear may impress thots in high school/college, but is absolutely cringeworthy for most older women.

Bottom line: you will not age out of New York Intense or Terre d'Hermes. You can wear either for the rest of your life. Fuccboi scents, on the other hand, are artless, juvenile and low-quality, and you will regret purchasing them eventually.

Quick review of Tom Ford's Acqua flankers
>Costa Azzurra Acqua
Probably best in line, a blue fragrance without having to rely on traditional blue fragrance dna. Really nice and unique fresh Chypre. One of the best in class for a woody clean fragrance with good projection and last pretty long. 5/5

>Fleur de Portofino Acqua
Too much honey for my nose and not much going on. 2/5

>Mandarino di Amalfi Acqua
Really true to life mandarin note in this however it really drops of after maybe 30 minutes dries down to a pretty average white floral with a hint of orange. 3/5

>Neroli Portofino Acqua
Just another neroli fragrance really.

>Sole Di Positano Acqua
Has a much longer lasting orange note than mandarino di alamfi, really good harmony between orange and floral. Decent performance for me. 4/5

They have a rude awakening coming once they hit 25 or so and women start laughing at their dumb asses. They gonna learn. Y’all motherfuckers still in the tutorial. You’ll see.

Went to nordstrom yesterday and tried some new things I havent smelled yet. My normie friend was with me as a blind sampler.

Tam Dao- very overrated. Its a good sandalwood reference but not nearly among the best woody I have smelled. I was actually upset that I was so underwhelmed.

Eau Duelle- very photorealistic vanilla. It was so rich and sweet the first thing that came to mind was vanilla bean ice cream. It was just a mediocre like. Good vanilla reference but nothing special.

(new) Tom Ford soleil niege- Normie friend loved it, his favorite. I liked it a lot, really good release. What fucking fabulous whishes it was. Similar but without the leather and just better in every way.

(new) Tom Ford Metallique- We both liked it. Interesting vanilla aldehyde with some woods. Feminine but I would wear it. Way overpriced though at the moment, I will wait for grey market.

Musc Ravaguer- Based. I sprayed it twice on my neck and wore it the rest of the night. So good. Would buy but Im not paying FM prices I just wont. Great longevity. I've heard bad performance complaints but this projected robustly and getting wafts of it were wonderful.

Normie friend thought oud wood and tobacco vanille were garbage kek. He liked black ochid but adored BDC parfum. He is going to buy BDC parfum at some point.

why do they keep cancelling amazing, lavender-heavy fougeres?

Tam dao wasnt bad. Just from the frequent textbook recommending it as a woody here led me to believe there was more to it. I quite like many of the nasomatto wood notes. I can come off a shill for my praise of the brand but I love them all and they are all worth looking into. You kind of write like hookerfag so if its you I'm sure you have smelled them before. Woody isnt my forte so I guess I am just pickier and look for complexity beyond simple reference notes.

It took like 30 seconds for my brain to process soleil neige because I just wasnt expecting it to be what it was. I went from "meh.....oh wait.....wait this is really good....oh fuck its on my buy list". I disliked soleil blanc so I was primed for it to be a rehash of that. Metallique was a great aldehyde because it captured the airiness of aldehydes but it was young and not striking as an old person note. Recently tom ford releases have been underwhelming but these two were bangers to my nose. I'll cop at least one of them come spring...I love vert d'encnes, nobody ever talks about it here but super underrated tom ford private blend

Yeah, it’s me.

I have tried a few Nasomatto frags and liked them, but I really haven’t given the brand enough attention. I gotta get a bunch of samples of their stuff, Memo, and Profumum Roma at some point when I get back.

I didn’t like Soleil Blanc either. Smelled like cheap suntan lotion to me. So same, I wasn’t expecting much from Neige, but I’ll definitely give it a look now. I’ll try Metallique as well, I’m just a bit wary of vanilla-heavy scents at this point, since I own so many of them already. The aldehyde aspect sounds very interesting, though. Have to try Vert too. From what I remember from last time, they have the entire line at Duty Free so I should be able to at least try them all on strips, though that may have changed since last year.

Dont expect to be floored by them. My budget doesnt reach as far as yours, you have smelled a great deal more sophisticated scents than I have. But I grew a little bored of tom ford as this board continues to make me more of a niche autist. These just stood out to me is all. They arent in my favorites list or anything like that.

>> No.14744158

>>14744123
I like the house as a whole. Many aren’t my cup of tea, or quite overpriced for what they are, and a few are complete duds (like Soleil Blanc), but I think he does have some very legitimately good, sophisticated scents. I guess one of the good things about having a larger budget is that I can afford to be less picky. I can grab a bottle hear and there that I like a lot but don’t absolutely love and it’s not a problem.

Well, I’ll try them, see what I think. Like I said, I did like Amouage Portrayal as well, so I may well wind up copping that. We’ll see.

Any insight on Zara Scent #4? Reviews are few and mostly not that positive, but I rather like it. Has a fruit-sweet opening but not fruity like Invictus, more rounded. Then dries down to a soft summery vanilla, very nice. And lasts 8h on me easily with 3 sprays.

I'm a bit critical of CdGs desu because of their performance - most of their scents vanish from my skin after 3-4h max. Out of cheapies I can wholeheartedly recommend Bentley For Men Absolute if you want something woody or Black Bvlgari if you want something more challenging (some people find it obnoxious though as it reminds them of burnt rubber). For the mid budget I'd recommend Eau Sauvage Parfum but maybe test it first as some people are instant triggered solely by a thought of it kek. With £100+ budget you can get whatever you wish desu. Snice leathers, woods, resins, spices etc. If you want to dive into more expensive stuff tell us your budget and notes you like.
>>14746834
100% sure I have a new version and don't care. I had a sample and decant before buying a bottle and I think they were both new versions as well. It still performs ok and the scent is absolutely glorious.

So serious discussion: What are the best vetiver frags? I'm torn between Chanel Sycomore and FM Vetiver Extraordinaire, I can only afford one of those. Any others I should consider? ELDO's Fat Electrician is also great, gotta keep sampling it.

Thanks senpai. I’m testing Heritage and Bel Ami right at the moment. I didn’t expect to like both of these as much as I do. I think heritage has the upper hand right now.

The the anon that gave me recommended me L’Occitane Cade, I greatly appreciate the help, but it I went in store and it’s been discontinued.

To me FM is a little nuttier and cleaner. It’s kind of hard to describe, but the dry down strays away from a sharp vetiver and turns into a scent I can’t really pinpoint. I like it a lot but it has really serious vibe to it.

Sycomore is a lot more sensual and smoky. In my opinion it’s the best vetiver out there.

Sycomore is good but not that different to Encre Noire to my nose. It's obviously smoother and well balanced but I think it doesn't perform well enough in the projection and longevity departments to justify the price difference. Roja is a good one. If you want another clean vetiver then you can't go wrong with Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Audace by Profumum Roma is snice smooth vetiver with creamy tonka beans. You can check Vetyverio by Diptyque. It should be readily available in every bigger mall/dpt store. Timbuktu is a very weird one: think rippen mangos + lots of incense on vetiver background. Absolutely unique and lovely stuff (try to find the old bottle with golden lid). I really love Vetiver Extraordinaire but you already know it (I'd take it over Sycomore every day). Guerlain Vetiver is obviously the staple of vetivers but I'd try the Extreme flanker as its less dated. I remember sniffing Dior's Vetiver from that exclusive line the other day when I was really bored in their flagship store on Champs-Elysees with my gf and I was quite impressed by it.

I despise the brand but MFK has a very good sampling deal (6x2ml for about £13 delivered afair). The same thing with Margiela and Atelier Cologne (albeit I like quite a few Atelier's scents). Xerjoff offers 4 reasonably priced samples of your choice. MEMO Paris is fine if you can suck up the delivery costs. MDCI is great imo. The sample set is costly (90EUR) but you get 5x12ml and Claude is a top lad giving freebies if you want. Nicolai used to offer 6x1.5ml for around 30EUR. Same with Pryn Parfums. I think Penhaligons had some good sampling program, too. If you're based in US and want to try some natural ingredients perfumery then I'd go for Rogue Parfums as you can cut on costs of delivery unlike us Eurobois. Other brands that used to do good sampling programs: Juliette Has a Gun, Histoires de Parfums, Ineke, Parfum D'empire. Ah and not that many people know that the unfamous Roja also offers 7.5ml atomizers.
Most of the costs put forward sample sets here deduct from the price of your first bottle.
If you are based in UK/France Jovoy has insanely good sample prices and many (ultra)niche houses to pick from. If you can pop in to their store then you will get them for free if you're not autist being afraid of speaking to sale assistants. There's this Polish girl working in Jovoy Mayfair who is super sweet and gave me around 20-30 samples the other time. Probably me speaking Polish helped (and the fact that I buy stuff from them from time to time) but I think they just have a policy of not charging anything their customers for samples. Bloom Perfumery has great curated sampling programs that you can learn a lot from.

Based retard :)

Anyway, they no longer carry Amouage at the duty free, so that’s a bit of a bummer. Good call on the Soleil Neige, though. Sprayed some on my hand, walked around for an hour or so, and it just got better, so I went back and copped. They didn’t have the full line like they used to, so I only tried Metallique, which was snice, but too similar to what I already have, and Oud Wood. OW was a surprise. Thought I’d hate it, but it’s actually way less skanky and way more pleasant and sophisticated than I though. The oud’s not too out of control, and has a snice sort of woody-spicy thing going. May cop in the future.

All in all, great trip. Sad it’s over, but it’ll also be nice sleeping in my own bed again, and looking forward to spending time with me girl. Got her a bunch of samples and some nice chocolates, so she should be happy.
