Nice fit but the tie is too skinny for your shirt collar & lapels. Ideally your blazer lapels, length of collar point and tie at its widest point should be within .25" of each other. That's why in the 70s with massive collars people wore huge kipper ties.

try on both. the bedale has ribbed cuff liners which i do not like while the beaufort had velcro storm flaps which i cut out of mine. i went black beaufort and have no regrets. i think its the original model too. it also has the game pouch zippers on the back which might not seem terribly practical since you don't really carry around dead birds anymore, but I've kept papers or put items too big for a pocket in the game pouch during cold winter days so i could keep my hands in the warm lined pockets and not carrying things. pretty clutch when you need it.

Acting like a retard isn't as amusing as you think it is. If you are seriously, unironically, too fucking stupid to tell the difference between sexcore and prep, I will tell you. Don't wear slimshit, don't wear ripped jeans, dont wear chelsea boots or any other fuckboi boots. Penny and tassel loafers are prep, a few SEXfags might wear them, but they are still associated with prep more than they are associated with sexcore, unlike chelsea boots, which are quintessential sexcore footwear.

fashion pleb here that pretty much wears polo shirts, plain t-shirts and baggy khakis year round

can somebody explain to me what is the difference between the fabrics lambswool, cashmere, merino, alpaca, shetland, etc? what are the point of the wool blends and cotton blends?

Tldr:
Alpaca:meme
Cashmere: nice but cheap cashmere isnt worth it
Merino: imo also a meme, looks like cotton so why not just by a cotton sweater (unless of course you like that thin sweater look)
Lambswool: technically a lot of these are lambswool but when something is denoted as just 'lambswool' they probably mean that it's somewhat rougher or thicker wool
Shetland: wool from shetland sheeps. Imo this wool creates the best sweater texture and is also very warm and durable

I don't think this really works unless you're deliberately trying to dress in the way a lot of women dress, with the skinny pants tucked into boots, and the jacket that falls right below the hip. If you had a belted barbour like the international it would still be "feminine" but in a more sharp/stylish YSL type way. The barbour jackets with more relaxed cuts and lower bottoms don't work with overly slim fits, unless the layering is done right, otherwise it creates a weird silhouette thats not flattering.

The knit looks far too long in my opinion, you should fold it in the hem a couple of times so that the proportions work. Now your upper body looks very unbalanced compared to your lower body.

Pic is what I wore today. Herrainpukimo MTM trousers made of VBC flannel, Harley's of Scotland shetland sweater, Crockett and Jones Ashdown derbies and Lopez Aragon overcoat. I really wish the coat was 10cm longer, but there isn't sadly much I can do about that.

No, it is not. It is because your trousers have a rise that is, frankly, 10cm too low that you think it is "correct length". It is very obviously too long, making your upper body look massive and your legs tiny, which is not a good silhouette. The trousers should sit at your natural waist and the sweater should come just over the waistband of the trousers. That way, your legs look longer and more attractive, you get a dramatic V taper from your shoulders to the natural waist, and it all just looks more put together.

Here is an example of a nice fitting sweater coupled with good trousers. Notice the difference?

1) Then maybe don't wear so slim fit pants 2) so your answer to that is wearing stupidly low rise trousers and long sweaters that make your upper body look comically long relative to your legs? That is so smart, wow! Why not embrace the fact that you have long legs, which is a very good thing in terms of traditional wear? It looks much better than having a long torso.

As for the photo not looking good, lol. The sweater fits perfectly, as do the fuller-cut chinos. Very traditional, 40's style wear that is perfectly coherent. The deck sneakers are a nod to the military connotations of the chinos. I personally would wear something like longwings or PTB's with that fit, but the sneakers aren' bad either. What is your gripe with the fit?

Posting some other great fittting sweater / trouser combinations since it seems like nobody here has any idea of traditional wear.

It fits so perfectly that is full of wrinkles because the sizing is shit, the sleeves are also short. Such a short torso makes him look like a manlet with some disproportionate legs. The sleeves are full of wrinkles because it's a lambswool sweater that gets wrinkly when you wear the sweater. I am wearing a perfectly fitting sweater right now that is wrinkled at the elbow because I wore it.
He has rolled the sleeves at the cuff to show some of the shirt cuff, because with a sweater on, your shirt sleeves will be a bit shorter since the sweater sleeve catches some of the fabric on the way down. If he would want to, the sleeves would be longer, but then you wouldn't see the shirt cuffs.
And obviously he wouldn't put a jacket on there... That's just grasping at the straws. A crickett sweater would look like shit because you could throw a denim jkacket on and that would look totally off? As for the similar colours, it's called tonal wear and has been quite popular in recent years. Look at Saman Amel, for example, one of ythe leading menswear ateliers in the world.

I jus noticed that you meant the second picture instead of the first. As for its sleeve wrinkles, it's obviously from the fact that the sleeve is twisted relative to the shir underneath, which makes it pll. He could adjust that in seconds. Your sweater sleeves usually get pulled and twisted if you do something with them on over the day. It isn't related to the fit in any way!

As for the proportions, you are just wrong there. Long legs won't make you look like a manlet, they elongenate you and make you look taller. See Clark Gable in It Happened One Night, looks much taller than he usually does, and really jacked despite having no shoulders at all. That's the power of high waist, short vest.

What makes the model seem a bit shorter in the pic are those full cut pleated chinos, but I think they look really good and period appropriate.

Did you even read what I wrote? THE SLEEVE CUFFS ARE ROLLED ONCE. He could make the sleeves 7cm longer if he wished. Traditionally sweaters have these cuffs you turn around.

As for the body, he could adjust it not to be wrinkly by pulling on the hem, but that wasn't clearly the point of the photoshoot.

Yes, exactly. Nobody's going to stab you for wearing a fairisle that's too long by trad standards, it'll just get pointed out. It's rare that I even see anyone here sperg out if the fitposter says "yeah, I know, but I like it" or "oh, I see, but this is the one I have, so it'll have to do. Well, now that Old Hat was kill things aren't as good as they used to be, but you've still got Hornets in High Ken, a couple-few guys with stalls in the Portobello Road Market (yeah, I know, I know... but there are at least two guys up there who sell good suits now and then), 282 also up on the Portobello Road (but that's a proper shop, not a stall), the Red Cross I think it is in Chelsea, and there's a shop I never learned the name of in the Shepherd's Bush Market selling vintage tweed cloth on the bolt. There's a guy selling some decent vintage suits in the basement of that market in the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane (look for the guy in dreads who also "upcycles" shit that's too worn; that stuff's nonsense in my book but much of his regular stock's worth a look), and there are quite a few other small shops in that general area, especially if you're into workwear type stuff. I forget the name of the exact street they're on but it shouldn't be too hard to find. A few smaller more or less skeevy vintage places all over, as well.

There's no point bothering with Oxfam because they don't sell clobber where they get it, they send it to other shops, to avoid people having to see their neighbors wearing their own used shit I guess. The good thing about the Red Cross is they sell what they get on site, but they've unfortunately learned to charge better than they used to, which is the drawback.

Jeans are still very much in line with the ivy "thing" in my opinion. It is all about rebelling and getting influences from other walks of life; I think denim is no different than wearing white socks with black loafers, wearing rugby shirts with tweed jackets etc, wearing boat shoes on land etc. It's all the evolution of the same concept. And frankly, denim looks very good with many ivy fits.

I am a big fan of denim with earth toned sports jackets, for example. The roughness and texture of beat up denim is wonderfully coherent with coarser tweeds, twills and corduroys. Denim shirts look excellent in the place of OCBD's, as well.

But yeah, it might not be perfectly orthodox trad/prep, but I don't think that's such a serious thing.
