Who here is taking the citizen pill? Quartz? Good. Accurate and cheap to fix. Case finishing is far beyond seiko it's not even funny. Citizen also know how to design a watch to look good. Citizen also have the best titanium in the industry (excluding de bethune obviously). It took me a while to get here but once you go citizen pilled you never look back. If anyone here is a refu/g/ee and has seen the picture of linux distros hopping everyone in /wt/ is on arch linux or some gentoo shit. Us citizen bros are like the enlightened who went through all that bullshit and settled back onto ubuntu.

Kinda happy with the ones I have. Had to get a replacement for my Helson, so I'm the meantime I'm using a NATO strap, which looks a lot worse than I thought it would even I bought the strap. Don't rightly see the appeal in NATOs desu, apart from maybe adding some splashes of colour they look bad, make the watch build way taller than a regular strap, and they feel cheap too, even the leather ones.
Got a Nomos Tangente 38 coming in one of these days, really curious about the leather on that.

I brought it up a couple of times here and people generally didnt seem to care. Im still looking for the best possible modern bracelets to replace the crappy 80/90s bracelets on my 16570 explorer and Tudor sub.

Closest I found was the strapcode bracelet for the vintage Rolex sub that fit my Tudor sub pretty well, but I don't like the overall design of the bracelet. I just ordered the new oyster style bracelet they released which should be closer to what I want.

Hard to find ones that are gud. Meyhofer Super Engineers cost 50 bucks, but the screws dont quite fit the treads so they stick out, the edges of the individual links are sharp and just not comfy. When you wear it higher up, it cuts circulation, when you wear it loose, it flops down and hinders wrist movement. Im sure they are not hollow, as the bracelet itself is heavy as shit.
Then you have the other end of the spectrum, with 600 buck Damasko bracelets for 1k watches and whatnot. IMO, thats just being jewish.
Personally, the best fitting metal bracelet I experienced, was oddly on a titanium Casio. The bracelet hanging somewhat loosely, but the smooth links giving way allowing the (super light) watch to move out of the way when moving the wrist.
Also, metal bracelets get dirty relatively fast, show scratches and sometimes have to even be adjusted according to the climate you are in, but thats not that big of a deal.

However, I wouldnt take anyones praises/shit talk about anything, for anything. In the end, you will probably buy a few straps and bracelets and decide what fits you best (and perhaps rotate by mood or occasion).

Ive had the best experience with strapcode bracelets. Theyre just chinkshit, but at least you know what youre getting with them. If you paid $50 for the bracelet in your pic you probably should have gone for the strapcode variant. a bit more expensive, but wouldnt have any of the problems you mentioned. plus would have included a higher quality milled clasp.

Where do people find these "cheap" second hand watches?

I look on eBay and chrono 24 and the prices are relatively high for what I'm interested in. I could wait for a sale and get new for not that much more.

Most of the used watches are fairly old (or more often than not they don't say how old they are) these would more than likely need servicing once you get them which pretty much strikes out all your savings of getting new.

I'm only looking in the 1000-2500 range for reference.

Oris and Sinn are probably the worst beginner's trap. Got shill like crazy on forums but really they're all derivative entry level rubbish. Popular with poor hipsters and accountants who can't quite get their finances together and step up to something more solid and respectable. If you can't afford a $3k+ watch, just get a $300 Seiko or Citizen and be content with it. They're perfectly fine watches for nearly everyone. Just don't waste your money on an Oris. Pic related, a Tudor Pelagos is a good example of a solid piece and can be had pre-owned in $2.8k range.

Damasko also falls in the derivative entry level almost luxury. But if I must buy a $1-2k range watch I would absolutely go with Damasko over Sinn, Oris, and a bunch of other microbrand trash. At least Damasko isn't too pretentious, and their quality actually solid. Sinn has the worst track record of early failures in my experience and I absolutely will never drink their "muh German engineer" kool-aid. Also met the guys from Damasko at Wind Up event, they were the most down to earth unpretentious guys in the venue. I had a new found respect for the brand just by how they conducted themselves among a sea of microbrand hipsters.

Sure keep telling yourself that. Morons like you love drinking your own kool-aid, buy rubbish and then come on Chinese under water basket weaving forum like this to seek validation for your bad decision. And cycle repeats. I'll just let you be. I don't care enough to buy either brands either ways.
