What’s your daily driver for Fall/Winter? Need some recs

I’ve been wearing French Lover, but I think it’s a little too austere for most to appreciate.

Oud Wood is my nighttime scent, I think it sits nicely between niche and mass appealing. I can’t seem to find a daily driver with that same quality.

I don't wear any fragrence, never have. My GF would probably like me to wear something but I have no clue where to start. Right now I probably smell like Gain detergent, Irish Spring soap, Neutrogena shampoo and whatever deoderant I use. She never says anything like I smell bad some comments that she likes my scent, some other comments that previous boyfriends wore cologne. Just looking for something for when we go out not really an everyday thing. Is this a better question to bring up with her or should I just try to find a scent I find appealing?

>>14698731
Really don't care about her past relationships since we are healthy and together, just feel like the comments might be based on a want for me to start wearing something.

>>14698735
Yeah I really don't care personally about it, her comments lead me to believe she does though. I just run into the idea that she would pick something that they used to wear and now I become a substitute for them by proxy. I guess best bet would find something I find appealing and see if she likes it.
Do most stores offer samples so I can test the waters before committing to any one fragrence?

Sephora has a decent men's fragrance section, not huge. But they also make it super easy to try everything. If you like a couple but want to try them on your skin before you buy you can even as the SAs there to make up to 3 sample sprays for you to take home.

Bleu de Chanel parfum is my go to for most of the year. But in the winter it definitely feels out of place.
I’m often complimented on this perfume and I’d like to maintain a bit of continuity.
With this in mind, and assuming Eros isn’t an option, what would be a good winter fragrance?
Unrelated: has anyone here tried Creed Aventus? It’s their highest rated perfume and ambergris note is a big draw for me.

Sel Marin is very transparent and linear. Does not matter if you aren't buying it to appreciate transitions or whatever. I've flirted with the idea of getting rid of my bottle in the past but I keep it around.

I don't know if Neroli Portofino would be an aquatic really as I don't remember any oak moss or calone notes. I remember loving it the first time I smelled it. I was new to perfume and neroli was new to me. It is unnecessarily priced but the fact that they make so much of it should say something. The same perfumer made a few perfumes for Arquiste which can probably be found cheap on eBay. L'Etrog Acqua probably being the closest to Neroli Portofino. I also really like Boszporusz by Nishane. Hyped up brand at the moment and I think this one is over looked.

Tuxedo, I definitely wouldn’t call ultra masculine, but I wouldn’t call it feminine either. It’s perfectly unisex to me. Just very snice, smooth patchouli, vanilla, and spice. The olfactory equivalent of wearing silk pyjamas. I love it, and women love it on me. Worth another sniff.

Haven’t smelled FL, but RO is basically cedar, sandalwood, and spice. Very little Oud. One of the most underrated Creeds, imo.

Saw one of my regular ladies yesterday. She immediately noticed I smelled different than I usually did. Women have noses like bloodhounds, man. She did love Tuxedo, though.

Also, the gf wants me to try to sample Kilian’s new Rolling in Love for her. Not sure if De Bijenkorf here carries Kilian, so may have to make a run to Skins at some point.

Snice. If you're looking into sea-smells, then get yourself a sample of Profumum Roma Acqua di Sale. That's great and daring scent. Nuclear performance - I was getting 12h+ out of it and typically barely any fragrance lasts on my skin for more than 6h.

Can I get some recommendations? It's really hard for me to focus/look for colognes when I go to Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc to look for colognes.

I've been wearing L'eau D'issey by Issey Miyake for the past year, and it's been the only cologne that I've been able to enjoy and not feel suffocated when I wear it.

I really enjoy floral tones, which is why I chose that (even though it technically doesn't have much of a floral tone)

I liked Chanel Allure Sport for a whilte, And It was nice, just a bit too intense for me. I have an almost full bottle of Bond No.9 Scent of Peace and it always gives me a scratchy throat and stains my clothes with the smell. (I do one small spray behind each ear)

If anyone has any heads up on somthing I should check out please let me know.

I've come to realize that I hate perfume... Any recs for me?
I've been going to the department store couple times a week for the past 2 months, every time I smell a few frags on paper and try a couple on the skin... all the big names and popular ones, at best they smell totally unremarkable to me, all just like generic "perfume scent", at worst I'm scrubbing it off within an hour. Yes I'm probably the ultimate noselet.

Anyway the ONLY one that smelled remotely good to me out of 40+ that I've tried was Amouage Interlude that a small boutique shop had.

Any frag recs for someone who generally hates perfume?

its probably not a coincidence that the one you liked was a $300 niche fragrance.
Try a department store like nordstrom, neiman marcus, bloomingdales where you can try some more high end stuff like diptyque, by kilian, or exclusive collections from tom ford, chanel, hermes, etc. The niche/designer exclusive lines are more likely to go beyond that generic "perfume scent" the pervades the designer market. The also tend to be of a higher quality in general. Don't be memed into creed or le labo though.

Tried stuff from Dior, Chanel, Montale, a couple Tom Ford, dolce Gabbana, Burberry, YSL, Azzaro, a ton by Maison Margiela (all were shit!), Francis Kurkdjian, a few CdG... I always recc people who are in your position to go to a L'Occitane store. Their fragrances are well-priced and lean more natural. If you have a Nordstrom or something, go to the Diptyque area and try them out. The other way you could go than expensive niche is naturals/indie brands. Or there are expensive brands out there that are all natural (e.g. Hiram Green).

You have some actual taste mate. This is how I actually got into fragrance. I wanted to smell nice but hated all the 90s early 2000s associations with fragrance. A&F, Le Male, Adidas Moves, Axe type stuff.

I started reading up and found people raving about how sophisticated, complex, but still mass appealing Bleu de Chanel is with notes of incense/Vetiver/amber. So I finally went out to test it with a new perspective.

I excitedly sprayed it and it immediately took me back to all the early 2000s teenage locker rooms. I continued to smell other designers in the store and found them all to be more or less the same. That directed me to the niche side of things and I never really looked back.

When people are talking about exclusive lines they mean the Chanel, Tom Ford, etc lines that are only sold in higher end stores. These are more niche and are separate from the designer lines you see I’m Sephora type places.

On the contrary. I own a large collection of E.O. and can tell you they can be pretty nasty:
Almost all citrus e.o. are photo-sensitizing, some basil ones are carcinogenic, some others like clary sage can mess with your hormones, others can induce miscarriages on pregnant women, etc
Don't believe that just because they're natural they're better for your health.

I know it's pleb and >lol Hugo Boss but Bottled Night is a really comfy frag for me.
Not too harsh with the violet/wood/musk combo and it starts out a little generic deo spray like but sometimes you don't need a jaw dropping frag all the time, you know?
does anyone else have a guilty pleasure frag that people here or on Basenotes would be attacked by snobs over?

Apparently, one of the key ingredients is no longer being produced, so rather than continuing to sell an inferior version, they’ve opted to discontinue it. They said they’re planning to release a new Bat by a new perfumer, but it will be a completely different scent rather than just reformulating the old one.

It’s not an open relationship per se, we’re monogamous, she just doesn’t consider sex workers cheating. Hell, we shared an escort a while back. She finds it hot. Also, we’ve only been together a bit over a month, so it’s not like it’s super serious yet. I mean, we spend a ton of time together, shit’s been very intense, yeah, maybe it’ll burn out, but it is what it is. I’m enjoying it, whatever happens in the future isn’t under my control. We’ll see where things go, if it doesn’t last, it doesn’t last. Alls I know is I have an awesome woman in my life right now and life is good.

Probably not. Might be that some dickhead bought up a bunch of bottles when they announced it was being discontinued and they might show up on eBay or something at some point, but I know Zoologist doesn’t make a ton of bottles in general, I believe only a few hundred bottles per batch, so there may only be a couple thousand bottles of Bat in existence total, and I have to think most of those are already in people’s collections.

I wouldn’t count on ever getting a full bottle, unfortunately.

Not usual one to hate but whats the oldest thing in that collection? Creeds? Dior Homme? Seeing a collection like this is why I no longer want to buy high end niche anymore. All the bottles look full minus the Amouage. Wouldn't you get more enjoyment out of things you could use with out the thought that if I use this too much I can't resell it or I don't want to use too much they might stop making it? Aqua Quorumfag here, AQ is fuckin godly, but I think I'm the only one on here with it, so definitely post your thoughts when you get it. Just be prepared because it definitely is an aquatic, albeit a very strong oldschool one with a fuckton of dihydromyrcenol and calone.
