Retoast. So I just got a pair of mocs and on my left foot, they felt a little tight on the top part of my foot. Sizing up a half size didn't help too much, so I figured it I replace them, they'll stretch and become more comfortable.

They are the jackman bean mocs, and I sized to my brannock size just wondering if this is normal or not. (I mean according to brannock I have been wearing the wrong size for my whole life so eh)

Been going nuts expanding my footwear now that I have a job, just copped pic from Beckett Simonon. Really wanted a pair of monk straps AND a nice pair in a burgundy/bordeaux leather, so this fits the bill really nicely for 200 bucks. It's really the only color I could justify getting right now. Seems okay enough, but I'll post pics when they come in.

Double monks in particular are regarded as trendhopping because they were so huge in GQ-type menswear a few years back that they're now stuck with the backlash of having been a fad. Anyone actually high class wouldn't need this thread or its advice because their friends & family would influence their style and be their resource.
This thread is just mid 20 somethings who are post college and trying to either
A. find a more adult style
B. not look like a mong in the office
C. wanting to know how menswear should fit, decent brands, fabrics, and how much they should cost.
D. wanting to wear menswear but in a more carefully casual vibe but not denim casual.

-Linen, Seersucker, hemp or popplin shirts or polo shirts. If it is a bit cold: light merino wool sweater

On rainy times I guess you could use some lightweight Barbour, a raincoat or similar, and rain boots

You know what really peeves me? All the people who do prep completely wrong. I'm okay with other styles like streetwear, I look down on them, but they don't make me rage. What makes me rage is all the pseudopreps who make prep look bad. The bros in their vineyard vines t-shirts. The fratboys who dress like a cartoonish parody of prep, wearing pastel shorts and hot pink polos all at once because they don't realize that GTH items should be worn ONE AT A TIME. The "preppy" thots who think wearing a Barbour jacket with their yoga pants makes them classy. The MFA redditors in their tapered uniqlo khakis and slim fit oxfords. The finance bros in their midtown uniforms. It all fucking sucks, it makes prep look bad, and it tricks people who are new to prep into dressing like shit, perpetuating these styles. That's insightful. There is an over-arching aspect to all of this though: most people, whether they dress "prep" or "Goth Ninja", do not have a refined effortless ability to style themselves and adapt their tastes.

It's a tiny group of people, who take the time and actually like Fashion, and aesthetics, fitting, color, sizes, forms. These people have a sense of their own style, and it might involve some pieces of one core or another.

>Dressing "Prep"
This is actually a red herring, it doesn't exist. Because the more and more you try to micro-manage every single piece to try and ensure its "all Preppy/Trad/Etc", the more meme-ish is becomes. You lose your authenticity in this endeavor.

Nothing wrong with cheap clothing per se and anyone that criticizes you because of the label is a classless douche. However, generally you will want to spend more as price quality ratio is pretty good with traditional clothing. Still, I buy my socks, chinos and wool gloves from uniqlo, shirts from drakes and all my blazers are vintage brooks on ebay and my shoes are from Northampton. I'm a total cheapskate so the drake's shirts are all 65 pounds each (which is a great price IMO for a nice shirt) and most of my clothes are second hand or bought on sale. The most expensive stuff I have bought are my shoes which are all gw welted northamton shoes which even despite this are 200 pounds on sale. I'd say shoes are worth spending money on above all. Do you think having a monk strap as a 'signiture' piece is dumb or are they batter than laces?

Just so you know, sleeve garters are fucking horrible to wear, very uncomfortable. Especially those metal ones.

Ah. I don't think I'll need them but it's just something I was looking at.

Yeh, fair enough, but I used to wear those things and I had to stop from how uncomfortable they were, they irritated me worse than the autism that made me want to adjust my sleeve by half an inch in the first place.

I'm seriously considering remaking this mistake with sock garters nowadays though, because you can't cure stupid.
