I'm done anons. Just completed my dream Fall/Winter wardrobe. I might cop samples here and there but I really don't feel like changing anything here as it fits 100% my style, vibe and all occasions I can think of. Also, post your F/W collections, rate, comment.

Still waiting for my Indonesian Oud, Pegwell Bay and Le Frenchy samples.

Im curious how do other people rotate through their frags? Do you have a signature frag? Do you get a new frag every time an old one gets used up? Do you rotate through frags often such as when you get bored of one, special events, only during season change or only wear one all year round?

all i wear is tom ford black orchid (im a man) what is you guys' opinion on it? ill probably wear it anyway because I like it and get lots of compliments on it but when I look it up it's all women who wear it so I'm just curious. I treat it like an accessory kind of if that makes sense, like ill wear it on certain occasions or if I have reason to be wearing a suit just cause I don't feel like everyone wants to smell me all the time. I think I'm just scarred from being in high school when axe body spray came out lol. another thing is I had an ex that wore Viktor and rolf flower bomb and I love the way that shit smells and would like to smell like that desu but I feel or that one is most definitely too feminine of a scent for me.

I'm the guy who blindly copped these few weeks ago. Encre noir is my favorite right now but I think the ck is better for going out/dates, it's just sexier for some reasons. Lacoste white is ok but way worse than the other ones. It does smell fresh but it's too much safe as a fragrance, I think I'm looking for something more peculiar.

bros i need suggestions for a winter/fall frag im new to this and ive been doing research on different ones i want to try, im going to a mall tomorrow and im going to test some
so far my idea list for testing is as follows

bleu de chanel (i think this one might be popular and im trying to avoid frags that remind people of other people)
club de nuit intense
thierry mugler pure malt
lalque encre noire
zoologist Squid Extrait de Parfum (store probably ownt have it but it seems interesting)
Salt Caramel Eau de Parfum
Wonderwood Eau de Parfum by Comme des Garcons
Blackpepper Eau de Parfum same guys as above
id like to test aventus if i can but it's too expensive for a bottle might just by a decant and use for dates if i like it keep in mind i have no idea what i want yet any suggestions?

Everything is high quality and smells upper class, but also seems like it’s off putting to a good amount of the population.

It seems like they’re aren’t any middle ground fragrances between niche and designer.

You get some regulars who sort of organically cultivate a “personality”, and other dipshits decide they want to be special too, so they decide “ok, I’mma be the dude who spams Eros nonstop, I’ll be Erosposter!”. Eventually, the contrived “personalities” start trying to out-shitpost each other and all the good posters get fed up and leave and the general turns to complete shit.

People like hookerfag are fine, he’s not trying to force a gimmick, he’s just a dude who likes hookers and posts a lot of actual content and is generally pretty helpful. Erosfaggot just shitposts and adds nothing to the threads. He is cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer usually wins.

I don't agree with that. I think they're one of the most wearable niche brands around. For sure, they're not even close to the prevalent ambroxan blue type fragrances that you smell on streets in terms of crowdpleasing but none of them is particularly challenging (I haven't try the Arabian prive line yet though). >Im curious how do other people rotate through their frags?
I roughly divide my frags according to the weather and time of the day and then pick one depending on the mood and qualities I want to exude. They give me an aura of quiet confidence and add a layer to my presence.
>Do you have a signature frag?
Not really, but I might have one at some point as I realized that with time I make my collection smaller and smaller. At my peak I used to have around 30 bottles. Now I limited myself to 6 for S/S and 6 for F/W. However, I tend to have some signature note groups/accords.

I didn't comment on your roto eventually in my massrepiies. Good and versatile mix between niche and designer imo. You'll get some hate for JPG but I can imagine where having this bottle comes from. Did you prefer Valentino over Dior Homme? I used to be on the fence with these two. Then eventually I moved on. Also how is Red Tobacco?

>> No.14677218

>>14677158
Jpg comes from the fact that I adore the scent, and the fact that every girl that I dated went nuts over it. As for Valentino, yeah most definitely prefer it over DH/DHI. Red tobacco has a monstrous projection and lasting power. Fills the room woth half a spray, lasts easily 12 hours and more. Stays on clothes and in rooms for days literally. As for the scent, it is really sweet cherry dark tobacoo scnet, wonderful in itself.

Yeah, that's a bummer but longevity is really bad in Philosykos. If you'd like to trade some of the projection for a bit more for longevity then I can recommend trying Diptyque's oil roll-on. I gifted it to my gf for some occasion and it lasts for 4h+. The projection is about a feet though, changing to a skin scent halfway through. Let me think about other stuff. Did you try Byredo Pulp? It's very fig-heavy but there are also some other fruits, so idk if that's your thing. You should test it first though as it is literally a photorealistic strong pulp scent that some people hate. I sold my bottle because while I appreciated it a lot, I couldn't imagine wearing it. I can easily imagine people around you asking themselves who spilled some freshly squeezed juice no his clothes. Performance is very, very good though. I've sampled two fig heavy L'artisans at some point; Premier Figuier and Caligna. PF was really snice and hitting the same vibe as Philosykos (but a bit more smooth and complex). Caligna was more woody and deeper. Both worth sampling imo. Acqua di Parma has some fig-based scent in their blue line. It was on of my favourites of this line and they should be readily available for testing in any department store. When it comes to cheapies then I've heard good things about Ferrari's Noble Fig (don't mind the brand - the line it belongs to is quite good, I really liked my Bright Neroli from them). You can also give a try to Molinard's Figue, I was quite impressed about their scents. Especially for the pricetag. But didn't test it on my skin. Also Armani Prive line had some Fig scent that was very fresh and bright now that I'm thinking about it. Come back and report if you liked any of these recs.

TRIED BYREDO PULP, FOUND IT WAY TOO FRUITY. IT'S AN INTERESTING SCENT, BUT, AS YOU SAID, IT'S NOT ONE YOU WOULD WEAR.
ALSO SAMPLED FIGUIER ARDENT FROM ATELIER. LOOKED VERY PROMISING BASED ON THE NOTES, BUT IT HAS SOME KIND OF "STING" TO IT, LIKE YOU'RE INHALING LITERAL DUST PARTICLES, ABSOLUTELY UNBEARABLE. BERGAMOT + PEPPER COMBO IS THE PRIME SUSPECT.
ARMANI PRIVE - FIGUIER EDEN. ALSO SAMPLED. IT'S NICE, BUT NOT AS FRESH. PROJECTION IS NON-EXISTANT. IT'S JUST A WAY DIFFERENT TAKE ON FIG. OVERALL NOT WORTH ITS PRICE FOR ME.
L'ARTISAN PREMIER FIGUIER. VERY NICE. CLOSE TO PHILOSYKOS, BUT LEANS IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. SADLY I'M NOT EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE IT EXACTLY, BUT OH IT'S GOOD. TO MY DESPAIR, IT DOESN'T LAST AND DOESN'T PROJECT (NOT UNLIKE PHILOSYKOS). I HAVEN'T SAMPLED THE EXTREME VERSION, BUT JUDGING FROM WHAT PEOPLE SAY, IT DOESN'T GET BETTER.
NOBLE FIG / MOLINARD FIGUE / FICO DI AMALFI - COULDN'T FIND SAMPLES AT THE TIME, THOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE I CAN ORDER ONE FOR FICO DI AMALFI RIGHT NOW. NOBLE FIG IS ONLY AVAILABLE AS A FULL BOTTLE AND MOLINARD DOESN'T SEEM AVAILABLE AT ALL.

My question now is what is the best way to test them, should i put it on my wrist since i find it hard to smell on my chest throughout the day? Also which sample should i wear to a date you think?

80s frags tended to be powerhouses, massive projection and longevity, one or two sprays of the strongest ones are equivalent to grabbing a modern frag and smashing the bottle against your chest. I've found out that to get the best representation of how a fragrance smells over time is by spraying only the back of your neck. Just 2-3 shots right to the back of the neck. Avoid the sides on your neck or throat. You WILL go noseblind and you won't smell yourself. Back of the neck leaves a trail and you'll catch whiffs throughout the day. You'd be surprised how long a fragrance sticks around behind you if you've been used to olfactive fatigue.

>> No.14679827

The scent follows you around. I catch whiffs when turning my head and such. It creates a bubble that you can smell throughout the day. The same principle would apply if you spray your throat/sides of neck, it's just that in those location you'll go noseblind almost instantly and won't be able to smell it anymore. These subtle "whiffs" are important because that's what your frags smell like to others when it's in the air or your downwind when walking past them.

>Some mischief and surprise are needed to keep life fresh, for you to smell your perfume anew. Therefore, I urge you, if you are a floral gal, to set aside prejudice and wear a thing without flowers. If you are a luxury goods kind of gal, with a Kelly bag on your arm and Manolos on your feet, I urge you to try on something that you believe to be beneath you. If you are ultrafeminine, wear a man’s scent. And if you are butch, doll it up for once. Live a little. Try it on. It’s only perfume. TS

I just watched the Dior's Eau Sauvage ad for Parfum version and it struck me how much you can tell about differences between it and Sauvage just from their commercials.
>Delon vs. Depp
>black&white vs. HDR
>KINO vs. action movie
>subtle narrative focusing on emotions vs. ROCK, BIG CITY, FAST CARS, DRIFTING, LOUD MUSIC
That's like comparing Antonioni to new Marvel movies. It's funny how much this agrees with the audience.

Redolessence is fine, Gent Scent is fine, Joy Amin is pretty good, Mr Smelly is pretty good. Reviewing fragrances is hard because without being able to smell it it’s meaningless.

Ultimately whatever people say in a video is irrelevant if you don’t like it. You could watch a 30 minute video about how something is the greatest fragrance of all time, but if you go to the shop, smell it and don’t like it you’ve wasted 30 minutes of your life.
