Look listen OP, and do that on campus. What do most people wear? Invert it. If they wear hoodies and sneakers, wear sweaters/windbreakers/parkas and either dress shoes or quality leather boots. Mix nice sneakers in if capable. It depends on your intention, do you want to look like a foreigner from out of state? Do you want to go for a gray man look, and just blend in but slightly classier? Best bet is simply to dress like the best dressed professor on campus. This way students stay out of your way, other professors become intimidated by your presence, &etc.
