Pretty similar, but Azzaro has much higher amount of dihydromyrcenol (whereas its barely even in RG) and RG is much sweeter. They both share a lot of characteristics though, namely that creamy soapy vibe imparted by the lavender, anise, clove in RG/caraway in Azzaro/, and the almost bready coumarin in the base. Drakkar Noir is in this family too and I’d consider RG to actually be closer to the deep base of Drakkar.

I answered this question a while ago with a breakdown to different countries. Polo are fine but also neophyte af. In UK Floris and Geo F Trumpers are the typical choice for /tip/. You can't go wrong with classic Floris' fougers or Trumpers' Sandalwood. Eight&Bob could be a good fit and Acqua di Parma produces very classic masculine scents.

Memed myself into getting a sample of this, so far I hate it

Smells like deodorant, I don't mind that, citrusy and a tiny bit spicy, whatever, but the one thing that is really fucking me up here, is that to my nose there seems to be a note of cooked food in the opening, like fucking fried chicken or something. It disappears relatively quickly but whatever it is I absolutely hate it. Maybe it's the pink pepper note.

When it starts to dry down it begins to smell a bit like potpourri. It gets better but it's not impressive. Not sure why I got it, a 5ml sample as well, don't even want to use it as a room spray. I'll keep trying it and see if it grows on me but I doubt it will

Nobody ever talks about Byredo, Jo Malone or Clean, even though they're shilled everywhere at airports, and at a pretty high price. Are they worth exploring? Any experiences?

Byredo have mostly great smelling scents, nothing too complex but unfortunately nothing that will stand out for someone that is already into perfumes. As is with Jo Malone I think they are a great window into entry level niche perfumery.

Byredo is great: Pulp, Bibliotheque, Mojave Ghost and Bal d’Afruque are all great reference points in niche perfumery. I really like some of Jo Malones but the truth must be said that none of them last for longer than 2h. That’s just a glorified cologne water from my experience. Their approach to layering is great though and you can learn a lot from their recommended combos of their fragrances about how different scents react with each other.

>Now, bearing in mind that I constantly wear and love (and analyze) Cool Water, in both current and vintage formulas, I felt the comparison of Swiss Army Classic to Davidoff's fougère was reason enough to wear Victorinox's EDT, and compare for myself. So I did. I wore it, I thought about it, and within five minutes of wearing it I knew that the eight people on Fragrantica who had made the comparison were dead wrong about it. Swiss Army Classic smells nothing at all like Cool Water. It smells like synthetic aroma chemicals, some of them intentionally "fresh," thrown together in a hissy, unbalanced citrus-woody deodorant, with the most prominent effect that of lemon. Lemon doesn't play any direct role in Cool Water, so right there is a major divergence. SAC attempts a cheap stab at amorphous green notes, none of which resolve into anything recognizable, before settling onto a a base of aftershave lavender and pencil-shaving cedar. That ugly graphite-dust effect, which I find in cheaper fragrances with cedar notes, dominated the fragrance. Cool Water never sets foot in that neighborhood.

This stuff is so good lads. Disgustingly human lust in a bottled form. I think I'll buy a bottle.
