polish maybe like twice a year, it takes a bit of practice but it's fun and only like twenty minutes. and then condition them with some wipe on conditioner grease stuff any time they get soaked or look dry. the only think I'd worry about is getting a big dose of road salt in the winter, I'd definitely recommend wiping them down thoroughly with a wet cloth, letting them dry, and conditioning soon after that

i bought from one uk store (off ebay) but it was a size too small and legit murdered my toes/feet after a short wearing.

my only issue is ebay sellers hide the quality/how the shoes look which is why I didn't buy off one of them.
