Your experience is not new. Most people have been echoing what you've been saying for awhile. Even worse is that the sales staff have no idea what they're doing. You can find plenty of comments where menswear is more widely discussed about how uneducated brooks brothers staff is now. even with simple things like "where are your made in america ocbd shirts?" and they say "all our ocbd shirts are made in america" when in fact the store is filled with malaysian bullshit at a higher price point.

Tops: polo shirts, shirts and maybe some tshirts
Bottoms: chinos, shorts
Shoes: boat shoes, loafers camp mocs or sneakers

You get me. I feel like I'd be better off showing up in my ugly sneakers, sweatpants, and a t-shirt than tradding up and spooking everybody. Actually, it's funny because looking back at events and stuff on campus, you could always tell students from townies because the townies were there in their Sunday best and still looked uncomfortable, while half the students were in sweatpants or jeans and really couldn't give a shit. I remember one talk where they'd brought in a former ambassador and the guy in front of me was just picking away at his nose like he was digging for gold in an ore mine by crashing trucks against the walls. He is basically saying start lifting weights. I actually have a similar build as you do. We both need to hit the gym and even out our upper bodies to our lower. I also cycle 2-3 times a week and it will definitely make you very bottom heavy. My brother only cycled for a year and had some crazy proportions from it. Took him a year to even out in the gym.

If you're really going for ivy look, If you'd want to look more ivy or prep, I'd recommend a button down collar but $$ for that collar roll meme.
